“Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.” Romans 12:9 NKJV
“For God does not show favoritism.” Romans 2:11 NLT
I've always had an issue with this one. It's patently false with the entire Bible as reference with examples....but it is to the "Romans", so go figure.
Edit fix: "by the Romans" --> "to the Romans" Dumb mistake. knew what I was trying to say, just came out wrong.
How so?
Favoritism? -Adam -Moses -Enoch -David -Lot -Noah -Israelites ....and sooo many more. If they were not favored by God, would they not have been warned from harm, danger, etc? "God's chosen" is equivalent to favoritism, by definition.
Just always seemed a strange verse with all the examples throughout.
Generally when God warns, everyone to whom the warning applies gets warned, only the repentant listen and are saved. Occasionally the faithful to God are given an early heads up, this isn’t favoritism but a consequence of God’s loving provision and activation of a life principal. This often comes with the burden of warning everyone else. Truer than gravity, “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works. The Lord is righteous in all His ways, Gracious in all His works. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. The Lord preserves all who love Him, But all the wicked He will destroy.” Psalms 145:8-9, 17-20 NKJV
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” I Peter 5:6-7 NKJV
God warns everyone the same, Gods rules and principles apply the same for everyone. We have free will and if we choose to engage with God there are casual outcomes that are predictable, same goes for rejecting God.
In what way do you find the warnings provided to the messengers were exclusive? Noah warned while he built the boat, faithful to God’s commands. The people have free will and rejected. God warned Adam and eve ( the only two people at the time) and they were punished as they are due. Without favoritism God rewards those who seek Him and are faithful to the realities of life God set forward and He punishes those who reject Him. Moses didn’t get to go into the promised land because he hit the rock when God told him to speak to it instead. Lot warned his family in Genesis 19: 12-14 but they thought he was just joking. As they fled Lot’s wife died on the way out of town because she looked back (something they had also been warned against), not wishing to leave her normal behind and she paid the consequence. David didn’t get to build God’s temple his hands were too bloody, the Israelites... oh those poor fools so many died when they returned to sin and rejected God. Jeremiah is a great book for that. As for Enoch, not much is said but he seems to have been such good friends with God, God couldn’t wait to bring him home. Relational rewards do not equate favoritism.
Take Nineveh for example, God sent Jonah to warn them. (When Jonah disobeyed there were consequences, as there are for all who disobey) when Jonah warned, Nianevah listened to God’s warning and subjugated themselves to God. God rejected and they prospered for 150 years until Nahum in which case they reject God and were destroyed.
God does not show favoritism in that God reacts the same to everyone depending on their free will choices. In a predictable and verifiable way, a principle of reality truer than the science of man can explain. Trust God, receive the reward of closeness to God. Trust with faith and zeal to fully experience the Love God desires to give each of us His children. Reject God and suffer the consequences of distance from God. Reject with enough zeal and feel Gods wrath. This reality applies to all equally in that God does not show favoritism. Jeremiah 17:5-8
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:44-45 KJV
Solomon got pretty down thinking about it from man’s perspective: “This, too, I carefully explored: Even though the actions of godly and wise people are in God’s hands, no one knows whether God will show them favor. The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone, whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious. Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are treated like people who don’t. It seems so wrong that everyone under the sun suffers the same fate. Already twisted by evil, people choose their own mad course, for they have no hope. There is nothing ahead but death anyway. There is hope only for the living. As they say, “It’s better to be a live dog than a dead lion!”” Ecclesiastes 9:1-4 NLT
But from Gods perspective, as I have come to understand it, The way the realities of God engage and interact with this grand experiment of free will are loving and measured equally among His creations.
“A false balance is abomination to the LORD: But a just weight is his delight.” Proverbs 11:1 KJV
“The Lord detests double standards; he is not pleased by dishonest scales.” Proverbs 20:23 NLT
“The Lord demands accurate scales and balances; he sets the standards for fairness.” Proverbs 16:11 NLT
“For we are each responsible for our own conduct.” Galatians 6:5 NLT
It is true God made some people especially for His work, dedicated before birth (Jeremiah 1:3) but this is also not favoritism for in knowing how we would react, He still made us. All of us, even those who choose not to be appreciative.
You might not care for the reference as it is a more challenging concept and from Romans as well, but it explains the concept. “Are we saying, then, that God was unfair? Of course not! For God said to Moses, “I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.” So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it. For the Scriptures say that God told Pharaoh, “I have appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you and to spread my fame throughout the earth.” So you see, God chooses to show mercy to some, and he chooses to harden the hearts of others so they refuse to listen. Well then, you might say, “Why does God blame people for not responding? Haven’t they simply done what he makes them do?” No, don’t say that. Who are you, a mere human being, to argue with God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who created it, “Why have you made me like this?” When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn’t he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage into? In the same way, even though God has the right to show his anger and his power, he is very patient with those on whom his anger falls, who are destined for destruction. He does this to make the riches of his glory shine even brighter on those to whom he shows mercy, who were prepared in advance for glory.” Romans 9:14-23 NLT
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9 NKJV
Best I can tell ‘God’s chosen’ are those whom God made that also choose God. We can be chosen if we want to be... and God would Love us all to be. But some will not want that, and God still made them even though He knows the outcome will be rejection. He still loves them enough to let them have their life and still reject Him. In that opportunity there is no favoritism.
You make a good argument, Cotton. Makes sense. Will look at it thru a new lens, now.
You wouldn't happen to be one of those rare Pastors who really knows his sh*t would you? If so, respect. If not, even more respect. Thanks for taking the time.
God bless you for your positive resection friend, your words are a warm encouragement to my heart. I was thinking about how best to explain what is very complicated concept and prayed for a while about it. God woke me up early as he has been doing lately (I’m anything but a morning person) and He guided me to the best explanation. The Holy Spirit provided the Content, I am blessed to get to facilitate The Truth and help your understanding while growing my own ability to communicate those realities. I sent it to my mom to make sure the reasoning was sound. God thinks you are worth the time, and I do too. Much love friend.
I am not a pastor, though it’s funny you mention that as another commenter recently suggested it. I’m a doodler and a noodles by trade, if there is a trade left to be had these days. Making up lost time for not standing up for God. Seeking to please Him first, been a big life change for me this year. My own great awakening to quantum understanding... oh if only everyone could see what I see and feel complete as I now feel. I pray with God that all may repent and return to God that we may truly have equality in God and Peace through unity of the Holy Spirit. A real utopia of spirit that man promises but can never provide.
“Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.” Jeremiah 7:25 New King James Version Thanks to Pentecost and the Holy Spirit we can all be iron sharpening iron. A mighty army for such a time as this. 17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. Acts 2:17 New King James Version
to the romans, not by them, lol.
The big difference is that while being overweight can cause heart disease, smoking can cause cancer, not wearing condoms can lead to STD's, and eating sugar can lead to a visit at the dentist, BEING UNVACCINATED DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE KUNG FLU!
We are literally in the middle of ww3 and we don't even know it.
Some of us do.
No abortion for women not on the pill.
I haven’t been to a doctor in almost 15 years… last time I was at the dentist I had them pull all my teeth and ordered some falsies (10 yrs ago)… I’m done with the bs and guinea pig status. I spent almost 15 years addicted to Vicodin and other pain relievers because my teeth and body hurt so much…I was broken and dying… I broke my addiction alone and healed my body using natural remedies… I have no more pain!! These doctors were happy to just keep loading me up with legal meth instead of addressing my health properly… what do we even need these butchers for anyway? Nothing… this beautiful planet has a medicinal cabinet that can literally heal ALL ills! Put faith in God for He alone created everything and so He alone is in everything!! NCSWIC
Congrats on kicking Vicodin!
Thank you fren 😊
While I understand the sentiment, every story I've seen where a doctor does this is related to triage.
Which, I know, won't be a convincing argument for people who believe that COVID isn't actually causing a serious problem and overwhelming our medical system. But that's the logic.
If the hospital is being strained under the weight of COVID, and doctors are HAVING to choose which patients can be admitted, then they're deciding to triage which patients get treatment based on which took preventative measures and have a better chance of surviving and actually making productive use of hospital resources.
It's the same in a mass casualty disaster. Sure, a field medic COULD probably save that guy with a hole in his throat and is in the process of bleeding out over the next few minutes.
But if there are hundreds of people who need help, then they have to triage. And they might be forced to admit that saving the dude with the torn throat is going to require time, resources, and space. And that time, resources, and space is probably better used to save three other people who aren't literally about to die.
So they make the decision to let a person die who could have been saved in order to save three other people who couldn't have been treated otherwise.
Triage is one of the hardest part of medical work, and the majority of medical professionals will luckily never have to do it (in developed countries).
These doctors who are refusing to treat unvaccinated people are claiming triage. Which, sure, is discrimination, but triage is unavoidable in situations with limited time, resources, and space.
So they aren't wrong to do this IF and ONLY IF the hospitals are actually being strained and people who are vaccinated are dying (of COVID and other things) because people who aren't vaccinated are getting COVID and sucking up the resources. Which is what they're claiming.
Otherwise, yes, they would just be dicks.
Wouldn't anyone with the vaccine just not not need treatment at all since it works so well? Unless they are treating other things besides covid I suppose
They are. In fact, I was just talking with someone the other day whose spouse had a stroke and nearly died as a result of having to sit in the waiting room for almost half a day due to being filled over capacity. It's anecdotal, but it is a problem.
And since no vaccine is 100% effective, there is always the chance that people are going to get sick anyway, which you guys know, since you've been watching it happen.
I call bullshit. "nearly died as a result of having to sit in the waiting room" sounds like an exaggeration
That isn't how triage works. If that person really had immediate life threatening condition, they would be pushed high up on the priority list.
You even acknowledge it as being anecdotal and still consider it the be all end all for your position in this argument.
I work with many doctors. Hospitals have established specific Covid units who only handle covid cases. Hospitals are not overwhelmed as the media has suggested.
You have hospitals laying off nurses (who are in high demand) for not being vaccinated. Overwhelmed my fat ass.
For shits and giggles, were they vaccinated?
I'm not a doctor, so I can't give a credible evaluation of the condition of the patient. However, the person I spoke with does not have a history of bullshitting or even mild drama, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I do not know the vaccination status, as it's become a bit of a political issue and is considered somewhat rude to force someone like a possible Q supporter to have that conversation with me.
I have no issue whatsoever if you choose not to believe this random unnamed person in my anecdote, as anecdotes are not data anyway.
If an ER cannot triage a stroke victim properly....ummm. Anyways, if er waiting rooms are packed it's because 1: the idiots have turned half the country into paranoid hypochondriacs who think if the sneeze from pepper up their nose that they're dying of alphabetacapadeltaepsilon.....variant. And 2: hospital staff is at low levels because they're firing everyone who refuses the poison.
Just cut us a script for CRQ...We wont even need to bother with the visit...Got the WUUhans again Doc ;)
Only problem, the Covid shot is NOT a PREVENTATIVE. Doctors who believe it does zero harm need to look at the VAERS report.
Well said!
A dentist almost didn't see my brother because he forgot to brush his teeth before going lol. Their job is to clean your teeth. People will always find an excuse to not do their job.
A little key here...
When they say beds are full they mean dedicated beds for covid not all the beds in the hospital. When they say understaffed it means they fired too many for not taking the jab. When they give mortality rates it's often not only inflated but taken out of hospitalized only to be a higher percentage rather than total cases whether hospitalized or not. When they say most hospitalized/deaths are unvaccinated they don't count people vaccinated 14 days ago or less. When they talk about rising cases they compare all covid cases over several years to one flu season which is less than a year.
The whole doctors refusing to treat the unvaccinated is the internet hearing something and running wild with it, the reality is that doctors know that refusing to treat someone and that person dying or sustaining lasting injury is at best a lawsuit that would ruin them and at worst a loss of license...
It's bullshit due to simple realities and it should be obvious why...
A hospital may be a different matter but for the same reasons I'm thinking that doctors at any hospital getting told this by management would tell them a few harsh realities rather quickly(much like companies backing down on vaccine to stay employed mandates when people push back and they realize what it would cost them...)

Yes, they are. Death panels are actually almost here.
