M193 out of a 16"+ barrel will rip through anything M855 will and then some. Velocity is what gives 5.56 it's strengths, 20" barreled ar's firing m193 will blow right through ar500, put HUGE deformation on UHMWPE, and some 3+ plates.
Anything larger than pistol ammo will rip through that stuff. It's not actual armor, it's just meant to keep bottles and rocks from cutting and concussing. It looks tough, but it might as well be a pillow strapped to them with a belt if you come with rifles.
