In the northeast, you see this until the snow starts. Premade covers or cardboard. Gets the temp up quicker so the heater works quicker when super cold. Usually taken off when snow as that loads up the grill anyway.

Plus, that car is modern enough to have a cabin filter, again, at the intake for the cabin air at the base of the windshield.
