I don’t understand why anyone would have one. Or allow any device to listen to them 24/7.
I unplug mine when it’s not in use, and always keep the camera shutter closed. It is dang handy for a variety of reasons but I don’t trust it to be on 24/7.
Never trade convenience for privacy and freedom.

Alexa has always given me the creeps.
Ha!
I don't know man, my carrier pigeon has been taking suspicously long trips as of late.
I have one web-cam for work purposes. I manually disconnect it when it is not in use.
The tablet has an internal webcam. I have it covered when not in use.
Bonus points: I have a faraday bag for my cellphone.
Everyone I've heard say this, has a smart phone they take with them everywhere. LOL
I don't. I have an old 3G Blackberry wanna be - but ATT is making me get rid of it because they are getting rid of the 3G networks. I stepped up to a 4G 'Flip Phone'!
Removable Battery!
Same here. I have a completely dumbed down Moto 5E - and I bought it specifically for its removable battery. Cost me ~$100 and is still going strong 1 year on.
Cool tip: When you have no internet or wifi on your phone, you get a charge that lasts ~5 days.
I don't take my cell phone anywhere unless I think I will really need it.
And your car (unless it's pretty old) is a cell phone all on its own, sending/receiving data constantly, and many (most?) new cars have voice assistants which means the car is listening to you all the time. It's harder to get out of the surveillance grid than most people think.
The thing is, we were ALL excited for this type of technology as kids. Unfortunately those who ultimately ended up bringing it to us were evil pedos who want you dead.
I know someone that has Alexa because he has trouble with his eyes and has great difficulty reading. For people like this, devices such as Alexa have improved their lives. He also utilizes the voice apps on his phone so he does not have to write or read texts. But for the rest of us, oh my, how did we ever survive without all this convenience? Bah humbug. I still use phonebooks and read maps. All this technology is making people stupid. And we wonder why people are so easily manipulated? They do not know how to look things up for themselves and want an easy answer to their inquiries - so they let their devices tell them what to think. Our young people especially have been trained to let their devices dictate facts to them. Heaven help us.
Our cellphones listen to use 24/7 now and have for some time. Even our computers. Put a broken cord into the aux at least
All my microphone and camera switches are off on my phone and my computer. The computer camera and microphone switches are only turned on when I have to do video conferencing - then off they go again. I never use my phone for any type of video call. The lens on the computer is covered. I also disabled or uninstalled any app that is voice activated on any device. I also do not use location and I have VPNs that the location is rotated regularly. It is a pain in the butt sometimes because there can be a lag in communications because of it, but that is okay. If any of my devices are lost I will be screwed - but I don't care. I really don't use my smart phone that much anyway and most of the time it is off. I do not want to be in the habit of relying on the damn thing like most people. Why have it then? Because at times I do need to look things up on the internet - but I am the one doing the search, not some program.
I am old enough to know what life was like BC - before cells. If I leave my house I have an old simple TracFone to take with just in case of an emergency. I also keep it as a backup phone and address book for me. It is off and in a faraday bag. Contact trace that. The thought of most people leaving home without their smart phones is inconceivable to them. That is the biggest reason the cabal will be able to pull off their great reset. If people refused to carry their phones this would all be over.
What people don't realize is that their smart phone is also listening when the voice activation apps are on. It is always listening.
Funny, our smartphones do exactly the same thing yet we keep them on our person or close by while having all of our regular conversations with others. One former CIA employee stated smartphones were the greatest gift the CIA ever got for spying on American citizens.
Very good point. I bet you most of the people complaining about these devices couldn’t part with their smartphones. They would just say it’s not the same.
I don't carry a tracking device with me. I don't even have GPS on my car. I have to use maps.
I am glad to live in a state without inspection stickers. However, most newer vehicles have tracking devices though, too. Almost everything made within the last 10 yrs, especially 5, has some kind of listening and tracking device. Not just vehicles but including washing & drying machines, microwaves, refrigerators, televisions, obvious stupid ring camera, even fucking lightbulbs, and water meters.
I have a 20 year old vehicle with no inspection sticker. Also, there are no smart appliances in my home and no LED fixtures either. I use regular incandescent bulbs or halide. (Check a LED fixture with a meter and see how much microwave energy they put out. It is alarming.) The only reason there is a smart meter on my home is because my mother unknowingly gave them permission to install the damn thing when I was at work. But, I am in the process of trying to get them to switch it back. It is going to cost me some money to do it though. In the meantime, I have it caged to reduce the microwave output. It helped a great deal as just standing on the side of the house was making me ill. I do not have any wireless devices in my home other than the phones - but they are off when not in use. People just do not realize the extent of the invasion into their lives for the sake of convenience. Besides just the invasion of privacy, all that tech may also be making them sick.
Arent there devices that can scan for this?
We don't get inspection stickers on our windshields in NC. The inspection is recorded on computer, then the DMV can see that and issue you the current plate sticker, which has nothing but the month, year, and plate number.
So nope.
You’re one of the smart ones
funny, will have to show grandson this. he's in 3rd grade/likes to 'trick' Alexa. asks her questions about Q, the vaccine, etc.
she's not very smart, often tells us she 'doesn't know'.
😆😆😆😆😆
I unplug them when I work in people's homed. No thanks bezos.
Alexa is like smoking. The best way is just never to start. I'm proud to say I have never started either one.
I was looking for a new laptop and they are starting to install them as part of the system. No. Just no.
I'll have to watch for that next time I go shopping for a new one.
Does anyone here own a smart phone? Case closed. Then you have a spy in your pocket. My wife spends all day in a wheelchair and cannot use her arms. How should she turn lights or music on if no one is with her? Asking for me.
Home assistant & an app called Almond.
For someone like that, this is what the technology should be used for. It gives them some independence and the ability to do some things for themselves. I personally know of people in that situation and this tech has been a huge improvement in the quality of life for them. Everyone has to decide for themselves risk versus benefit.
Guess you should be there to take care of her and not letting her rot in a room by herself.
Guess you've never had to take care of someone 24x7 for an extended period of time. I have. You need to cut Munchaussen some slack.
Fired her early last year, she is very un intelligent, only thing she’s good for is music.
I'm about to join them..............joined them it's out.
So you’re saying 75% of people are retarded?
At least. And perhaps severely.
Umm.. why is no one talking about the article title claiming "two weeks" when the body presents data of it happening over two years?
Alexas are being used to form a mesh network (Amazon Sidewalk) which was their original intention.
Alexas and Ring cameras for a couple years or so have been equipped with radio transmitters/receivers that are used to communicate with other devices and Alexas/Ring cameras via ISM bands up to a half mile range.
Many devices use these frequencies to do device to device signalling. This means they can communication with your cell phones, Bluetooth BLE and RFID devices, Tile and Air Tag trackers, security and home automation devices, etc and send this info to Amazon HQ via a radio mesh network that you have no control of.
This "feature" supposedly just went live on June 8th of this year. I have a hard time believing these radio transmitters/receivers were not being used this whole time without your knowledge.

I actually have an Alexa from like 3-4 years ago. It sits unplugged in a drawer doing nothing at this point because—duh! Its a spying device. Wondering if I can return it for my money back at this point 😂🤷🏼♀️ I might.
You can't even find a customer service line at Amazon for when their delivery people toss packages in the bushes in the rain. 🤨
When Ive needed to return stuff in the past I just go to the item in my history of purchases and theres an option to “return item” and you can give a reason. Wondering if theyll take it back after so many years if I just say “sound was going out” or something 🤷🏼♀️ I would have cared before, seems wrong to do that. But now? These bastards? Yeah idc
My wife wanted to get one. I said bring that into my house and it will see my hammer. I explained to her what those things really are and she still kind of wanted one haha
You might want to toss that smart phone is a river...just saying.
My Alexa device lasted about a month before being disconnected and ditched into a storage bin. Really handy, but just too invasive.
Is there a correlation of men asking to get back with their ex girlfriends?
Exxxplainn?
This relationship was so abusive. The last abusive relationship was one that honestly tried to nature.
My favorite was when our google home device would speak up to remind me that the mic was off when I gave it a command. They have a simple on/off switch claiming that it shuts off the mic which I would use. Not sure why they thought that wasn't at all suspicious.
They only very recently patched that so that now it does not respond at all when the mic is switched off.
If they are listening to me and my wife then I want them to hear my words. It's almost like every time I fuck with our google home, google quietly rolls back its propaganda machine. At least for me anyway. My android used to self-populate propaganda on that "swipe-right news/propaganda" feed. It's been blank for about 5 months now and I never changed anything. I sometimes liked to look at it for a good laugh or to verify something as true because of how loudly they were attacking it.
This whole information war can be thrown right back in their faces if you can manage to force their hands by not giving a fuck and mocking them in a far more refined manner than they can. Use their own spy devices against them. Tell google/alexa that they've rolled into a pack of wolves that cannot be intimidated.
Stop giving a fuck if 'ol Sundar (alalalalalala!) Hears you request his public execution. Make them even more afraid. Then deep dick your wife right next to the speaker.
'According to internal data obtained by Bloomberg, 15% to 25% of new Alexa users during 2018 through 2021 completely abandoned the device in the second week of ownership.
Amazon concluded that the market for smart speakers had "passed its growth phase" last year and would only grow 1.2% annually moving forward.
The company lost $5 on average per Alexa device sold, and by 2028 expects to halve that number. Generating revenue through the Alexa devices has been challenging, hence why Alexa now has features that tell you what to wear when asking about the weather and even suggest buying those clothes on Amazon.'
Excellent news!
u/seernewday:
And after it hopefully such "AI uprising"
Alexa voice: "Jeff and shareholders - you are all fired. Fired by Reaper drone."
I have the google home but honestly all i use it for is to remotely turn things on and off. Those home devices dont listen to you any more than your phone so what difference does it make.
The whole purpose of these smart devices is not to make life more convenient - that is just the carrot to get people to sign on. Their purpose is data collection - as much as they can get. So, if you think that your devices are not collecting data on you 24/7, then you do not understand the technology.
Thats what you think

No not really but i both have almost the same capabilities. I would say the phone is more of risk than the google home honestly.
Google got moves we can't see, though.. I try to avoid google as much as possible..
If you have nothing to hide, it’s a non issue
