You can buy hydroxychloroquine at your local supermarket. Tonic water contains quinine, which is basically the natural version of hydroxychloroquine, and was used for hundreds of years as prophylaxis against malaria. Drink 1 glass per day with zinc, increase to 1 liter per day if you get COVID. (i.imgur.com)

There is very little, if any quinine in supermarket tonic water.

This is real quinine derived from cinchona bark:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HVNMN7W/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Made in the USA.

This is a preventive for malaria that the brit's used in India, it could also be a preventive for Corona virus that some doc's are treating with Hydroclorquinine (sp)

Mix with fizzy water from your Soda Stream, add a bit of Lemon or Lime and a shot of Gin or Vodka and ya have your preventive daily dose like the Brit's did....

1 liter of tonic water contains 83 mg of quinine. Not an insignificant dose when you consider Dr. Zelenko's protocol.

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) 200mg once a day for 5 days, then HCQ 200-400mg one time a week.

Of all the various brands of tonic water only a few have any quinine in them. You are right, 83 mq of quinine per liter, is insignificant. Drinking high quality Green Tea is more helpful than store tonic water, as it has a compound that is like Hydroxychloroquine. I drink Green Tea almost every day. I also take zinc, D1, C, B complex every day, and a multivitamins about every 3 days.

I make grapefruit quinine but when I’m traveling I use the Q brand that has a natural sweetener agave. It’s not an everyday drink but when you can’t make grapefruit it works!

Hydroxychloroquine is the synthetic version of quinine. It has almost the same chemical structure, and is used for the same purpose. Pharmaceutical companies tend to create synthetic versions of natural substances because they can't sell a natural supplement as a pharmaceutical drug.

I prefer the fever tree brand. it is less sweet and more bitter. Also, it is worth checking out the tonic syrups (to be added to sodawater) that are available Some even come with elder flower added.

Tonic water is a key mixer to have in any home bar. The core ingredients are simple: soda water, sugar and quinine—a bitter compound taken from the bark of the cinchona tree, commonly found in South America. It's the quinine that provides that familiar bitter flavor that defines this mixer.

Yes, I know what it is and I do enjoy a good gin'n'tonic, but you are talking about taking it daily. Do you know what else besides quinine and carbondioxid is in it? The daily sugar is certainly going to do something about ones figure... :-)

Q tonic is sweetened with agave.

However, modern tonic water doesn’t have nearly the level of quinine as was in the stuff used prophylactically against malaria.

I would only bother using it as prophylaxis if I was in a vulnerable group during flu season, but if I get symptoms of COVID I'm drinking a bottle per day. This advice is more for people with grandparents.

In Australia, besides the pre-mixed tonics, you can buy this tonic mixer from Coles supermarkets:

https://shop.coles.com.au/a/aspley/product/soda-press-co-syrups-3533971p

https://www.sodapressco.com/pages/faq

Does your Tonic contain quinine? −

Yes and it’s real quinine, not the chemically substituted version. It's sustainably sourced from the bark of the fever tree (Cinchona) and contains 0.76g of quinine per 100ml diluted. Natural quinine is a natural anti-viral, antiseptic and has anti-inflammatory properties. It is still widely used to treat and prevent malaria.

What's the right mixing amount? −

Ideally 1 part syrup, to 6 parts sparkling water. However, as peoples tastes preferences are different, it’s also good to Taste-to-Test. If you are wanting to make up a 1L bottle, fill the syrup to the start of the bottle neck after carbonating the water before-hand. Please note, the Kombucha Concentrates are 1 part concentrate, to 4 parts water.

Great info, thanks, I may go and pick some of this up. One question - is there any reason why you specifically mentioned sparkling water? (And carbonating the water beforehand?) Or would mixing the tonic syrup into tap water / distilled water produce the same result? My understanding is that carbonating water only changes acidity and taste, or does the CO2 have another impact?

No, you can mix it with plain water if you like, it won't make any difference. I like to buy the cheap soda water to mix it with because it's nicer. Lately I've been buying the Coles Sparkling Natural Mineral Water because I figure it won't have any fluoride added.

https://shop.coles.com.au/a/national/product/coles-mineral-water-natural-8836835p

These are the pre-mixed tonics I was referring to:

https://shop.coles.com.au/a/national/everything/search/tonic%20water?pageNumber=1

I tried the Coles Tonic Water but found it too sweet.

But I absolutely love this stuff. It tastes better than the Soda Press mixer, but it's a lot more expensive, however, I don't know how much quinine it contains (I contacted them but they wouldn't divulge it, as it's sort of a secret because it tastes so good):

Most major supermarkets carry it under their own label. Even dollar general here where I’m at carries it (don’t recommend this one, it’s extremely bitter).
