BC Ferry system moves vehicles to the island. The ferries are a big deal for Vancouver Island and very efficient.

Canada Ferry system and San Juan Island Ferries will get you there. I came from WA and have been on Vancouver Island. One main entrance to Vancouver Island is just outside Victoria and other is at opposite end of Island but not sure what town
