My raise wasn't that good, but a similar story. I've been telling folks for a year, do not fear finding a new job. Great ones are out there and the cool thing is they are actively looking for people with brains, and a spine!
Great news fren! My wife lost her nursing job at a local Hotel California hospital (Novant) in Charlotte and found one at a hospital that try’s to save their patients!
Not always. I took what amounted to an extended unpaid vacation that will conclude with a 15% pay cut. The silver lining is if I am able to work remotely for a long time, it may be worth it.
Similar things have happened in my family: mandates; refusal; job-search. Next came more pay (not 50% - that's whopping), better conditions, more perks etc.
As a hiring manager (engineering), it is fucking crazy out there. Few candidates, and the salary expectations are breathtaking. I don't begrudge them the pay they're asking; THEY WILL GET IT. But for companies like mine that are constrained by long term rate agreements with clients, its causing a bit of trouble. As one candidate correctly summed it up: "not my problem". I LOL'd. He's right though.
My urse daughter quit over vax. Just got hired at a new place that all the unvaxxed nurses went to. Paying her DOUBLE what she made in the hospital.
She was out of work for only 90 days.
Asking for a friend who's newly unemployed in engineering after a long, long time at a military industrial complex mega corp... How do you find this massive job market? Clearly things have moved on from want ads in newspapers, right?
I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Often better horizons are in the future, maybe not right away. Everything that occurs in life is because a God has put in place a path for you.
I just got a 10% raise unexpectedly. We usually only get a yearly raise in August. We are hiring too, medical coders. There are good paying jobs out there. Ours are 100% remote.
That is awesome, fren! HONK HONK
Honk Honk is like my new Let's Go Brandon.
Every time I see it a smile comes across my maskless face.
it's fun

"slow to grok" upvote for the reference🐸
Upvote for knowing what to grok means.

"Hotel California Hospital"..... wow, that says it all. There should be a website exposing all of them.
Which hospital is the HC? Need to avoid.
Both Novant and Atrium
Which is 90% of the medical services in the CLT. Joy.
Don't you love the way GOD works?
Life's been good to me so far...

just savings in commute expenses and time savings alone is worth at least 15%

Nicely done, fren!

I'm not the OP, but websites like Indeed, Glassdoor, USAjobs, etc. Those are the ones I know of, anyway. Dice has a lot of tech jobs.
My Linkdin network nets me a couple serious offers a month.
Thanks, I'll tell my friend to check out those sites and update his linkdin profile.
