My dad has told me about the gas shortages back in the 70's and 80's and people were running out of gas at all the stations. Prices were rising 50-60 cents a day. All the gas was getting allocated and that caused massive lines at all the pumps. It also caused a lot of stores to go out of business. He built his business up by himself with a couple cstores in Houston and then when the shortages hit he was able to buy up some closed down stores, which allowed him to use their allocation and put fuel into his best stores. Moral of the story, he was was able to take advantage of whatever cards he was dealt. Everyone else was too scared to even play. Now is a time to be positive and take advantage of the things that only us are ready for. I think its about to get a lot worse though

Wait till them sanctions hit.
Its already starting because of the futures I believe but ya I think its going to get worse
A lot of money to be made in options right now
Get yourself a paper trading account (fake money) and start watching YouTube tutorials.
Options are derivatives contracts that make (and lose) money when the stock rises or falls.
It is based on volatility and is highly leveraged because you control 100 shares of stock.
You can also sell options to collect premium off time decay.
I highly recommend paper trading and not actually trading for a long time. In a recession, options can make a lot of money because prices are very volatile.
I am lucky enough to have failed on about a year’s worth of options trades, so I am pretty cautious and have developed some lower risk strategies.
Many people get lucky and make a ton of money immediately, then develop very poor habits and blow up their accounts later.
Lmao. That system. It's finished
TD Ameritrade has a platform called ThinkOrSwim, which has a Paper Trading/Simulation option… it’s a great way to practice and learn.
What do oil futures look like?
Trump predicted oil would rise 3-4x current prices a couple weeks ago. Things are going to get crazy when gas tops $10 a gallon.
I always say my dad basically is Donald Trump and if you met him you would agree, but he predicted $10 gas in California by the end of the month.
The reserves that Trump replenished? Of course Biden wants us all packed together in chinese style city blocks.
Sounds like a great plan, what could go wrong 🤔
Welcome to European gas prices.
Here in Germany this morning it's the equivalent of $7.71 a gallon, but only because the dollar is stronger than it was the last time gas prices went up.
We pay 20 to 30 cents more per liter than we did a dozen years ago, but a euro costs $1.11 when it used to cost $1.40. Back in those days I paid $9.25 a gallon.
I think Finland has the highest prices right now and they're near $10.00. So is Turkey.
£1.56 a litre or £7 a galllon here in uk
7 pounds is about $10 right now, correct?
Yea pretty much
About half the houses in Germany use natural gas for heating and almost no one uses a gas stove. They're usually electric.
The natural gas price per m3 in Germany is currently around 70 cents, but that isn't a particularly useful number by itself.
The meter on the side of the house measures meters of consumption in cubic meters while the gas company bills you in kWh.
One m3 of natural gas is roughly 10 – 11 kWh.
A 100 square meter apartment will need somewhere around 12,000 kWh per year.
Thanks for the intel fren, glad to have a real warm blooded Gas tycoon here :)
Mind posting an update each day or every other day?
Yes I will try!
Used car prices are currently up 30-45%. Best to wait until 4th quarter of '22 or even wait until '23 if you plan to buy a used vehicle. By then, (hopefully) used car prices will drop back to where they should be.

I have been wanting a Ram Rebel 🤔🤔
This is what happens when you let a mental patient run the govt.
On 9/11 I saw gas shoot up from around $1.10 to almost $2 in a few hours because everyone thought our oil was gonna get cut off.
Irelented the gas crisis in the 70's when I was a child. I remember my Dad going nuts because gas was $.58 a gallon haha
You could only buy by your license plate odd and even days Long lines and pissed off people
Yes! I'd forgotten about that
Exactly!
Just lower your costs! C'mon, man!!
Lol I want to raise the price even higher for democrats
Putin says thank you Biden for the sanctions every time the price of oil ticks up.
I remember those shortages. You could only buy on odd/even days based on your license plate and only if you had 1/3 a tank or less. I vowed I would never pay over $1 a gallon. Sadly, I had to but as a college student at the time it really hurt.
Fortunately I had an economical car: a 1973 Chevy Vega. It got 30 miles per gallon of gas and 30 miles per quart of oil….
The gasoline that is at stations, in trucks, and pretty far back in the supply line, was refined and purchased for distribution many weeks ago. Station owners just raise prices on the news they hear! I used to work at a grocery store, and the owner would have us re-stamp (long before bar codes :) ) the price of coffee when the news of "coffee prices are going up due to ______)" would be blasted by MSM (only media at the time). Then, when whatever was supposed to drive the price up subsided, he would keep the higher prices on the coffee long after that.
Actually the rack prices change daily and sometimes more than once a day. Taxes on top of the rack price are about 42 cents a gallon. So take the rack price, add 42 cents and then everything over that is profit
Yes, the multiple changes per day is further evidence of them charging based on news, rather than their cost. I guess the profit margin isn't high enough for one station to charge significantly less than others to get more business.
No I’m saying that the rack price is actual cost that the operators at the gas stations have to pay. Maybe the news and future barrel price does get involved when calculating the price but the actual costs do change and it’s done at the same time everyday. I’ll start posting the rack prices daily when I get them for the next few weeks
How could there be daily price changes, other than the owner deciding to change the price, for gasoline in underground tanks that are only filled every other week or so?

And yes the margin on fuel is basically nothing.
Gas Buddy was $0.20+ behind on pricing yesterday.
Fuck joe Biden.
This is what build back better is all about.
The old odd and even days. Depending on the digit on your plate what day you could get gas. Great not this again
I can has discount?
Gas crunch and environmental regs consolidated the pumps into the hands of the big companies. There are many abandoned full service stations from this era and many mechanics used to also sell gas
I'm glad I locked my fuel oil price back in the fall! I had the option of locking in at $3/gallon, and was pretty sure things were going to happen to raise the price, even though at the time, it was about $2.40/gallon. At that rate, I'm still paying about $400/month just to heat (minimal heat) our not very large house (but not very well insulated :) ).
I just checked and it is about $4.50/gallon in my area now!
thank you for that. If I hear you correctly, be resourceful. whatever resources one has, utilize to leverage profit and reduce cost.
