So, Dmitri Alperovitch was involved with McAfee. That's interesting. We haven't heard much on McAfee for a long time. I wonder what happened with his deadman's switch? Although McAfee is supposedly dead, nothing has apparently ever come of it.
My question is, is he really dead or did he fake his death?
Find out whether the deadman's switch was activated and you have your answer. Either it was triggered by McAfee's death and someone got hold of the data and is keeping it very, very quiet; or McAfee is still alive.

I suspect that McAfee really does have a deadman's switch. It's a good bet, too, that he's in witness protection. If anyone's going to have the goods on people, it's going to be someone who has had their own security software installed on millions of computers. Heaven only knows how many backdoors he added.
To add to this, Alpervovitch was into adversary targeting. Offense instead of defense and if you mirror that, then possibly they went in looking for info.

Last I read, his body was still in a morgue in Spain and hasn't been released to his wife yet. This was about a month ago.
He faked his death once and supposedly his body was never released to his wife. My opinion, for what it is, I think he is still alive.
I agree. Likelihood he is alive is greater than him being dead.

Perhaps he was in the same position as Elon -- his wife was his handler.

All to be used as leverage or to be sold to enemies and friends.
McAfree was one dodgy oddball.

This is firmly in the realm of a directly connected SSD (Solid State Drive) that while expensive at that point in time, is both available and discreetly portable. A USB3 portable drive has a theoretical speed of 4.8 Gbps (4,800 Mbps); So even if we were able to hit 25% of the bandwidth - the bottleneck should be the SSD at that point in time.
I question if an outside network would provide this connection speed. it almost had to be someone physically connected to their network, imho

Another name to research is Bill Binney. He was in the NSA until 2001, the technical director from 1997 until 2001, and became an outspoken whistleblower regarding the surveillance of American citizens. He created the NSAs Thinthread program which they scrapped in favor of a contractors "Trailblazer", which he describes as a "bastardized version of Thinthread" that removed all the encryption of Thinthread.
