The redditor actually asked: Why is every Roman statue white?
I'm not talking about race, pretty much every Roman statue is just completely blank and some of them have barely visible eyes. Is there a reason why there are no colours and they're just completely white without colour?
I don't think it's retarded for anyone trying to enrich themselves in the truth. Those who look for what they don't have will always be closer to it than those who think they have it and never look.
There's diorite, the stele of Hammurabi predates the Romans by a thousand years so it's very tough, but very hard to work. Marble is relatively soft and easy to carve. That softness might contribute to the paint coming off. They used to paint buildings too, like the Parthenon.
Honestly this almost makes them look even dumber. I assumed the poster thought the choice of material was to represent skin color, but seeing they actually just don't understand the concept of sculpture truly peels back the layers of stupidity.
Uh not really lol. Do you think they have a post asking why chocolate is brown? If your anti reddit bias made you assume they meant race that is on you.
I saw a colorized version of Roman busts and someone asked:"Why are they so white?" and some hero answered: "Because life is not a Netflix movie". Thank you, sir.
Fun Fact: They were indeed originally painted but paint can't usually last thousands of years. Some sculptures do actually still contain traces of their original paintjobs. You can find images of repainted roman sculptures.
Ugh, it's sad a person saw this, clipped it and posted it and was dishonest enough to cut out the full question. This makes us look retarded.
The full question.

Saturn / Satan worship. The cake is a lie. 5-pointed star. Eyes Wide Shut masks. Masonic checkerboard but orange instead of black. Arrow is a pyramid with sun behind it and maybe an all seeing eye at the top?

Omagerd
You can't just ask people why they're white! /Meangirls
I have proudly never had a Reddit acct. It hurts to roll my eyes so hard. It has to be mostly bots, but the humans are disturbed.
That about sums up reddit, yeah

Oh. They used to be painted, but that wore off.
Really? So we have any that the paint did not wear off? I’d really like to see that.
I thought becyase they were carved out of marble, they were kept that way.

Wow. That looks cool.
Looks like an ancient Roman NPC
Yeah, there were a few that survived buried in mud that had paint, they're very lifelike colors and bright, it's pretty cool.
Did the sun fade out the paint?
Not really, just 2000 years of exposure to everything did it.
I'm not sure really... I remember reading an article where they did a microscopic look at statues to recreate what they would have looked like.
Artists of the Renaissance were inspired by Roman sculptures and tried to imitate the white marble form, not knowing that it was originally painted.
I figured that's what the meant.
Still a retard lol

"Why couldn't they find some black rock to making black statues? Reee!!"
That aside, many of those old statues were likely painted and some traces of the paint that wore off many centuries ago can still be detected.
I think there's a black rock in the middle east that would make a nice George Floyd statue.
I'm sure everyone involved would enjoy having some nice plump juicy lips to kiss. Plus it would be so inclusive.
GOOD ONE

This post is completely dishonest
So many posts on this board are willfully submitted out of context by their OPs. Half the time they'll get stickied too. Feds do be doin fed shit
One day I got annoyed by it and tried to correct a few, I got a 3 Day ban within an hour. Free speech zone indeed!

A lot of old Greeks and Romans did in fact color their sculptures. It’s not that stupid.
Uh not really lol. Do you think they have a post asking why chocolate is brown? If your anti reddit bias made you assume they meant race that is on you.
It’s very obvious that they were going for a race angle on this one. Don’t gaslight me
OH MY GOD Karen you can’t just ask statues why they’re white!
Doh should have scrolled a bit more lol.
How do meteors always manage to land in craters?
There is hope! My Reddit indoctrinated and vaccinated son is considering asking for a Republican ballot in the primary in two weeks.
Omg that is hopeful!!
Wasn't always that way. I miss The_Donald :(

Reddit actually causes Retardation, by design. It would also appear that its effects are cumulative.
(sighs) there's a lot to unpack here...
this has fuck all to do with reddit, obviously. That's like asking why everyone on this .win is [any particular single trait]. Stupid.
I hope he got a satisfying answer.
Why are all skeletons white? Secret racist underneath?
Reminds me of something I saw recently: we are all born ignorant, but it takes a lot of hard work to remain stupid.
It comes down to io vs. ae... otherwise just an anagram
Because the paint has worn off? :D
We don't use the R word. Kek. Jk.
Because the paint chipped off...
Fun Fact: They were indeed originally painted but paint can't usually last thousands of years. Some sculptures do actually still contain traces of their original paintjobs. You can find images of repainted roman sculptures.
Reddit? More like Retardditt
I'm going out on a limb here, but the answer: Romans were white. Is that shocking?
Ugh, it's sad a person saw this, clipped it and posted it and was dishonest enough to cut out the full question. This makes us look retarded.

The Greco-Roman temples were originally painted in bright colors.
Time has just bleached them white.
