Do we try to insert a new foundation without stopping the source of degradation? Why would we expect the replacement to be accepted and catalyze a behavioral change?
I would love for there to be another way, but stepping back and watching as the house collapses on top of them seems to be the only way they learn. [Probably can expand this analogy, we have a crane set-up to support the load...with a touch of slack. Lesson is learned by those who need learning, but all is not lost and we can lift things back up and restore the original foundation after.]

Whatever he is planning, I don't think it will be about throwing away our founding legal document and replacing it with something that the 'Pentagon approved'.

A reasonably strong constitution? Gov is like 60% of GDP right now and can't or won't accomplish anything.
