How do I know? Because my two older brothers worked at JPL on Ranger through Voyager. I later worked for NASA in planetology as a scientist. I have touched hardware that is now way far out in space. My brother's name was inscribed with the other people's names on a piece of hardware that ended up on the moon.
I have to think some of the people pushing the idea are trying to make us look like nuts.
It is reasonable to send up a dummy instrumented with sensors to detect the many kinds of radiation found in space to design better space suits etc. I'm not ok with a lot of what NASA is doing that is wasteful, but this thing actually makes sense for them to do it.
You don't know though - you merely believe through abject appeal to authority. And frankly, if you are a scientist you should know better :(

Would you care to have an earnest discussion with someone with different views than your own, in the collaborative pursuit of truth? If you earnestly engage, i think you will find the conversation rewarding regardless of if it has any impact on your perspectives (or vice versa - on my perspectives!)!

That's boss. I doubt many have the same qualms. JPL/NASA is a pretty sweet gig, depending on job responsibilities/security. Walking away was likely not easy, and I massively respect your will and principles.

Tough question. The normal thing is to flippantly discard them, especially when you have first hand knowledge and they have something distinctly lesser (or nothing at all!). Perhaps the more "considerate" thing is to potentially hear them out anyway, on the slim chance that you have been fooled/misled.

I assume you are telling the truth until I have good reason to question/challenge that. Also, people who rush to declare something a lie, and the speaker a liar are most often overlooking the most common (essentially inevitable) possibility - being incorrect! Can't anybody just be wrong anymore? Do they have to automatically be a liar?! I'm sorry for your past experiences, sincerely. As for advice, I wish I had some to give. For the disearnest (the agents of the psyop) there is no remedy, for the earnest (useful idiots, confused) sometimes deescalation and polite discourse can get through!

As for narrowing it down, why don't we start with what evidence you have for outer space existing in any way, shape, or form! Based on my study, such a place is entirely fictional and a total violation of the scientific laws we know of.

My Playstation 1 had better graphics than that "footage". Not to mention the astronaut that said we were watching a simulation, can't remember which one said it. Then the little things like there was no delay in the audio, or who set the camera up on the moon to watch the landing. Definitely some things that make you go hmmm. Just point your normie friends to the official moon landing YouTube channel and make them tell you its real. Not saying we didn't go to the moon, but what was shown on live television was not the real moon landing

Do yourself a favor and watch the moon landing footage. If you take the time to do that you will immediately break the spell they have over you. Just watch it. It's a hilarious garbage movie that couldn't be possible in any capacity. They need you distracted so you don't actually watch the footage with fresh eyes. It's 2001 space odysee level of cgi. Getting people to simply do this can open the road to dialogue of what else is a complete lie. I always like to ask myself what else am I not seeing before I try to preach to others to wake up. I am curious about one thing. On the moon your weight is one sixth of what it is on Earth, and there is no air resistance. Your muscles are still developed for Earth, meaning you will be stronger, six times stronger?

I was sitting in front of the TV staring in wonder as the first step was taken on the moon. They even got through the Van Allen (firmament) radiation belt. Now they have lost all the data and the technology to go back.
Another example of how stupid/gullible they believe the masses are. (Unfortunately, the past two years - heck, the past few decades - have proved that FAR too many ARE that stupid/gullible.)
They didn't just "lose" it, they willfully destroyed it and knowingly told their subcontractors to destroy all their records as well (rather than house them at the national archives, smithsonian, etc.)
