I thought this would be a solid topic to share with anons as I'm sure others want to improve their own Digital Soldier skills.
I would like to know what the code anons use for posting pictures within a post. Is it simple HTML??
I would like to share that when I got started and compliling proofs together the files were very low res and would pixelate and look like crap. At the time I was using the snippet tool on my windows computer.
I have come to find that by pressing the following:
"Windows Key + Shift + S"
Allows for taking screenshots that are high quality and don't pixelate. You can edit the images with the image editor that pops up after you select what you screenshot. Pretty handy.
What do others have to share??
So for example apart of this thread:
https://greatawakening.win/p/15IXtz7nYv/what-is-the-general-consensus-of/c/
The user solarsavior about halfway down the thread embeds Q post 4951. How was this done?
I'm asking because I want to share multiple screenshots one after the next without people having to click links all the time.
It's so simple - yet I mess it up 95% of the time. Lol. I don't even try anymore.
This is legit! Got it.
Okay....say there's an image already hosted on the internet...can that be embeded?
I was trying to do this and it didn't work for me. Any other tips?
I looked for it, I don't see it. Is this something for Windows 10? I have Windows 11
LOL, I was looking in my windows settings. I found it, it was on already.

It works for users who have Community Styling turned on in their Settings but produces an error when clicked for users who have Community Styling turned off. A link to qagg (ex. https://qagg.news/?q=%23%231334 ) or qalerts (ex. https://qalerts.app/?q=%231334 ) would be greatly appreciated.

I turned it off, I could see the blue text like you said.
I could see my blue text in the posts that are blank also.

I love keyboard shortcuts. Win +shft +S will screenshot anything and everything.

I LOVE informative posts like this! Thanks u/For-The-Win!
Thanks also u/rooftoptendie! Great info! I've never been able to successfully upload a photo for a post after many tries so I simply gave up trying to post. I'm not tech savvy and have made attempts from my phone and this may be the problem so if I'm feeling brave I might attempt one from my laptop which is a HP.
I did get a chuckle when I saw an example for a folder titled "KEKLICIOUS" because as far as I know I coined the terms, "Keklarious & keklicious" . Maybe the mods could grant me a few token karma points for this as I sorely need them! 😹
+1 for greenshot
This anon family has lots of talent!
Here's one I've been thinking about after seeing the results of a damaged system having issues rendering graphic elements and failing to encrypt the visual data.
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/3886576_Embedding_data_in_digital_images_using_CDMA_techniques
Windows 10/11 and all mobile devices embed your identity into the pixels of every image you create as part of it's encryption process using visual noise. I believe this is built into chips on all new computers.
Use older systems (win 7) for memes or sharing to protect your identity.
Better yet, ditch Microsoft and switch to Linux.
Use a utility called greenshot for screenshots.
https://getgreenshot.org/
Download most videos using Jdownloader.
https://jdownloader.org/jdownloader2
Small but useful tip: Press CTRL+SHIFT+T to instantly reopen any tabs you’ve closed and need again.
This will save some time, thank you!!
Glad to help! It does come in handy.
or right click on the top bar and you can choose it there too
Alt + PrtSc will only copy the active window, on Win10. Useful if you have multiple monitors and don't want/need to take the time to crop the image further. Then paste into Paint or other editor.
Edit: Ctrl unneeded, just alt
Yes, 100%
I have a 4k screen as a main monitor and like 5 others so if I use the PrtSc key it'll result in some giant ass image that's basically useless.
What I like even better though is lightscreen. Small little additional program that allows you to set a keybind where you can click and drag to select an area, it'll save the screenshot directly to a configured folder. Love it!
I will check out Lightscreen, as well as u/catssix getgreenshot.org. Whatever program can do scrolling screenshots, that would make me happy, if that functionality is available. Snag-It has a nice array of options but is payware
I'll check em both out and see. I just use Snipping Tool currently, but there's gotta be an upgrade over that lol.
It's actually just ALT + PrtSc
Thanks, queue, you're right.
my pleasure
Also ther's a snipping tool in windows 10
I use a Java program (JRE is baked in) called "JDownloader 2" (Win, Linux, MacOs, others supported) to grab YT vids, Twatter vids, Rumble vids, Tiktok vids - works with many different video sites and can grab vids, pics, archive/zips. Pretty versatile tool, but takes a bit of getting used to. Recommend venturing into the Settings section and look to see what tweaks might be useful, but not necessary.
Plebbit I use another tool https://redditsave.com/ for videos. There are other ways, depending on what subreddit bots they are using, but this one is quick and easy. Has ability to download on mobile, see FAQ.
https://jdownloader.org/home/index
For videos you could also check out YoutubeDL if you haven't. Not positive but I think it's actually yt-dlp now. It's command line and also takes a bit to get used to, but if you mess around with jdownloader you can probably figure it out.
yt-dlp "url to youtube video", downloads the video to the current folder
yt-dlp "url to youtube playlist", downloads the entire playlist to current folder with a single command
yt-dlp "url to youtube channel", downloads the ENTIRE CHANNEL (sometimes thousands of videos) to the current folder with a single command
Nowhere ever will you find a program more effective at eating away at every last gigabyte of hard drive space you have than this one!
Yeah, I'm aware of YoutubeDL, the one I'm using is youtube-dlc - I thought it had a fork or two possibly. Definitely more useful than Jdownloader when it comes to YT vids, since it allows playlist downloads and channel archiving, which is why I looked into it originally (along with the slew of other configurable options for mass downloading YT).
I tried getting it setup on my Windows box, but couldn't get it figured out for whatever reason, even after extensive searching on /r/DataHoarder. As u/Choctaw mentioned, chocolatety is probably the path of least resistance for Win....but I'd like to get converted over to Linux full time and it would probably be easier in a more "native" environment lol.
yes, youtube-dl is froaked bigtime. yt-dlp works pretty well and to me is much faster. You can install it a few ways, with pip or apt package managers. I am not sure if there is a windows specific version but if you have python3 on your windows machine it should work, or maybe you can get it with chocolatety as an additional package manager for windows. Homebrew and brew for linux can also install it.
Yep there's a windows version and it can be downloaded through Chocolatey! Works great. Only issue is now I literally have like no hard drive space after nearly filling the 30tb array I put together about a year ago...
This, it'll download multiple sources too, not just youtube. I know it downloads twitter videos for me. Just need the url of the post.
4k downloader has all the features, works for more than just YT, lets you select the dl resolution, and you can even opt for sound as mp3 only.
There are times I have trouble reading a decode bread post instead of getting my bifocals on or pulling my monitor up to my face to read it lol. I rightclick and download the photo so I can read it and delete it if I don't want to keep it on my pc.
Really handy for reading dates and seeing small print and what not.
Along these lines, if you are reading a breadcrumb post on a mobile device, long press the picture and select open image in new tab. Can do on computer too. Then go to that new tab and if on mobile, you can pinch and zoom the image. You normally can't pinch and zoom in the post, but when opened in a new tab you can.
Thank you.
I personally think it's more important to post sources than screen grabs. If your screen grab doesn't include its source, please add it in there during editing.
It would a) cut down on a lot of fake information that gets passed around b) save many anons a lot of time and frustration trying to track down the original source and c) save you the time and effort of responding to individual requests for the source.
If you cant remember how to post a Qdrop directly into your post then add the directions to your description box in bookmarks ....for example I use firefox and Qagg.news most often.....
So my description box that I hover over before clicking reads "Qagg.news u /#q"
without the space between u and /
I use this trick for other notes related to specific bookmarks as well.
Someday when I sober up, this thread might make sense. I click the 'save' link, and put it into my 'informative' folder there. And hope I sober up someday and remember to go back and look. Kek!
I also use Discernment. Heavily. If anon they’ll know if not they’ll be led down a dead end that takes forever.
I opened a Twitter account. Got blocked by Joe Pags.
I use Google photos and when one account is full of all photos and videos / screen shots / files - I just make another free gmail address even if I never use it. It’s all free and saves your files immediately. Then it will delete them for you, but empty your “deleted” or “trash”. This gives you direct / quick access for anything you need, with dates and times ect…very helpful. Makes so much room for storage on your device. I think I have 9 accounts and counting. They store quite a bit, too. Even if you’re using something else I think this is a good idea and pretty solid in general. You can do whatever with them also in Google photos. Extract for another secure safe ect…
The only issue is the data is then in the cloud and on google's servers, and we all know how trustworthy google is...
Now i'll admit, I do use google cloud storage, however here's what I do. I have one of their business accounts for $20/mo, use google drive only, and use rclone to sync some local folders and encrypt them prior to them hitting the cloud. All google sees is a bunch of files with random strings as names, with random encrypted/inaccessible contents. I get unlimited storage, so currently have around 22tb up there for that $20/mo. My system sees all my files unencrypted and accessible because the encryption is done on the fly, anything that uploads gets encrypted before it hits their servers, and seamlessly unencrypted prior to access, with all the files 100% secure whenever they are online.
I then mount this network folder on all of my computers/systems, and essentially have truly unlimited storage everywhere.
The best tactic I've found is to not let anybody tell me what to say or do. 🤷
