In 1960, a hardy group of prep school students boards an old-fashioned sailing ship. With Capt. Christopher Sheldon (Jeff Bridges) at the helm, the oceangoing voyage is intended to teach the boys fortitude and discipline. But the youthful crew -- among them confident Chuck Gieg (Scott Wolf), timid Gil Martin (Ryan Phillippe) and self-satisfied Frank Beaumont (Jeremy Sisto) -- are about to get some unexpected instruction in survival when they get caught in the clutches of a white squall storm.
The Filmmaker, Ridley Scott, had a Bell on the twin- masted sailing ship, Albatross, engraved with "Where We Go One We Go All".
Ridley Scott's brother, Tony Scott was also a Director of " Beverly Hills Cop II, "Crimson Tide" and "Top Gun" among others.
Together the brothers had a Production Company named Scott Free Productions and were working on a film version of Bill O'Reilly's best seller, "Killing Lincoln".
Tony Scott had a wife and twin sons. He jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge which spans San Pedro and Terminal Island in Los Angeles Harbor August 2012. Wonder what he saw/knew working with evil pedo scum like DeNiro, Tarantino & Will Smith? Did Hollyweird DS threaten him to do something so awful that he'd rather jump off a bridge?
So many questions. I believe Q wanted us to watch the film to see how all team members must work together to achieve success because Where We Go One We Go All.
Can I nominate Animal Farm as a kid-friendly (but not little kids ... Maybe 9 or 10 and up) lesson on communism? Or just read the novel together as a family.
I read the book in 5th grade, it was burned permanently into my young brain that COMMUNISM BAD.
SPOILER ALERT:

*
I'll never forget the horrific images created in my mind of the horse getting sent off to the glue factory or the pigs dressing like humans.
Also check out Mr. Jones. About the journalist that uncovered the holodomor, who's close friend was a young George Orwell and used it as the inspiration for Animal Farm.
I liked the message at the end where it is stated that some times bad things just happen, you don't need to invent some reason to blame someone.
,,,abd sometimes some multi-generational families get hold of the rings of power and no one man can stop it, and we can not pin the blame on any one man or generation, and our societies run aground. It would not be the first time, but it may be more global than ever before. We will carry this together. May the great awakening carry the whole of mankind resist the tyranny being brought down on the world, and may the Lord grant that we see the storm comes down on them, and may we all do our part to bring our world out of their vile clutches, by the grace of God.
The ancient secrets of how to read the waves and follow the stars. A lot of Christians scoff at paying attention to the stars. I believe there's something to be communicated and received. Waves are vibrations.
America is a sinking ship. People are going to sacrifice their lives. Maybe vaccine deaths?
Bad players will take advantage of the deaths.
There will be tribunals for the good guys.
Frank and his dad are weasels. There were other weasels too.
I'm too sleepy to recall other important stuff at the end, but this quote:
"In the end it just comes down to one thing. You can't run from the wind."
I've felt the wind communicate with me somewhere around 10 times. I think there's consciousness in it. God. Some kind of nature spirit. Some other force I haven't been able to articulate yet...
But I've definitely felt it and would bet my life that it was something legitimate that I've felt. Mushrooms and other psychedelics were the gateway that opened up my doors of perception to experience it.
Whatever tragedies come around as the swamp is drained won't be the end of the story. But I'm excited for it. The good guys win and I hope to be a part of it!

Watched this in the 90's. It's a powerful film. Pretty intense in some places - you'll know if/when you watch it.
Same.

Indelible on your hippocampus.

There is a new film adaptation currently in the works. I prefer the book to any of the existing films 👍
Which version? The old animated one, or the 1990s made-for-TV movie using actual animals?
I was thinking the old 2D animated one. I didn't even know there was one from the 1990s.
Good, because apparently the animated one is far superior.
FYI an anon book club just sprang into existence. I've never read animal farm either. Let's add it to the list.

Wow. Much JPEG.
Well. That's what I get for pirating instead of paying for the material.
Looks like Blu Ray and Streaming is available from Amazon. Buy now before the internet blackout!

The sound cuts out right at the 45 min mark! Lame. Both sources of the video are the same file.
Ahhh. Much better:

I remember the part in that movie where they had to kill the dolphin. Sad scene.
Sound cuts out around 45minute mark. Can't figure it out. Frustrating.
