I've always felt that after both parents had to start working the parents left too much of child rearing to the schools (and perhaps used the TV as a "babysitter") and look how that worked out..............
Many children of divorced parents who continued to fight were raised in front of garbage TV.
No, not Beavis and Butthead. I'm talking subtle things, like the family dynamics in Miss Doubtfire being normalized, females like the one in Liar Liar.
This subconsciously tells you that "Moms are bitches." Then your mom comes home pissed off from working as a single mom, and what stereotype does she unconsciously fall into?
This is how the Mockingbird media programs - When you aren't looking.
I used to watch TV, like all the main shows at the time. All the conversations about did you watch ___ last night etc. (HS in the 80s.) I quit when I got to college and only had one stint (when I had free cable in an apartment) of "relapse."
So when I look back on the shows now, I'm amazed at how much little shit was in there, chipping away, back then. One example, everyone watched "The Facts of Life." Well while memory is fuzzy by now, I remember there was a hinted-at (I don't know if ever confirmed) lesbian character, and also the normal, pretty character was generally portrayed negatively - IIRC these two being at odds was one of the main themes. At the time, this seemed like ah good for the underdog etc, but now it's a whole other angle.
Of course, not all shows had some undercurrent like this...often it was just vapid entertainment. "Cheers" would be a period example here. It's justified as "looking at real people and real life etc" when in reality it's "you don't need anything inspiring or heroic, just some - VIRTUAL mind you - drinking buddies." How many people went to bed feeling THEIR lives were fulfilled by this?
Needless to say none of this has let up, I'm just glad I lost interest. I still can't believe when people make a joke and I'm like "huh" and they're like "HAVEN'T YOU SEEN THAT COMMERCIAL?"
And don't get me started about Seinfeld. Here come the downpoots but the most vacant of the whole lot. $1M an episode for what he admitted is about nothing.
Ugggh I could go on for days...but back to your point yes I bet we could look at popular shows in each era and find tons of the little insertions and I guarantee it's a trend - probably an exponential curve would be my guess.
The sexuality in all those shows blows my mind. I was young watching Friends and Seinfeld and watching reruns today I can't believe how much went over my head!
But seinfeld was sooo hilarious, as is curb your enthusiasm with Seinfeld’s creator and main character, Larry David. Yes, he’s a horrible leftist human being but his humor and writing skills are top notch. My wife and friends say I’m just like him in many ways and maybe that’s why I like his show so much, since I can totally relate to the way he sees social situations and doesn’t just let things slide.
Total East Coast/NYsarcasm. It’s an art form. If you aren’t like, you don’t get your balls busted.
But if you have ever watched 5 or 6 Curb Your Enthusiasms in a row…it’s really easy to see why Larry David is divorced. He’s a real asshole. But constantly…all day long. Every day.
But I do like seeing the humor in everyday life. Maybe “absurdity” is more apropos. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I also love Fletch and Young Frankenstein and The Jerk.
This is a really important point. Did you hear Bannon’s CPAC speech? He draws the line from 1971 getting off the gold standard to getting credit cards, then two parents both working, then car payments, then leasing card because you can’t afford a car payment..,all due to the Fed printing and printing money to keep their grift going.
This makes it seem like all those things happened because of the grift needing to continue. My thesis is that these things were planned to happen to cause an intentional breakdown in the family unit.
I was totally flabbergasted at how the line was drawn between 1971/Nixon/gold standard…and where we are now.
We may have gotten there ourselves via research and deep reading, thinking, etc…but to be so clear as to make those connections in a few minutes…because I’m not sure how ultraMAGA or Dark MAGA CPAC is.
I’m curious as to how people felt about that speech…was it a shock? Were there a fair amount of “end the fed” fans there? It seemed to get some vocal support. I remember both Ron Paul and LaRouche (Nationlize the Fed)…
Whatever the s whole thing is really moving into overdrive. Buckle the F&$% up.
There might be something to only going back so far a bit at a time instead of trying to get people to see the whole thing all at once (or, a bigger stage of the whole thing, really).
Oh yeah! Totally agreed. But we are in a far different place, mindset, etc. than 30 years ago. And 100 years ago we were really innocents. Or not born yet at all.
Yes but I believe we are seeing the backlash now. Many moms going to work at home and realizing they were sold a lie. Also many utilizing things like etsy to make a little money with their cool parenting ideas and products
I feel like Covid had some silver linings. In fact…many really critical silver linings.
Moms or parents at home could see and hear what their kids were being taught, what was being said in the classroom, how bad the education level is—CRT and transsexuality/why are your pronouns? Many people were like…WTF is this crap? This led to a backlash, the fruits of which we are beginning to reap now.
since a parent had to be home because the kids needed supervision (and couldn’t be parked at school all day) moms were home w their kid and maybe quit, or were laid off, or could work from home. They were able to be around their child/children. The house was a little cleaner. They may have had time (no commuting) to cook better food, maybe make and enjoy a meal together..
this change of pace may have had a larger impact on moms. I’m convinced that this 3rd wave feminism and women in the workplace stuff was for MOST WOMEN a total load of BS. Most people (men and women) are not going to be superstars in their very important field (they just aren’t). It’s not like every person is a groundbreaking surgical master…or has such a critical contribution to human advancement…that they simply must not be allowed to stay at home…working to create a healthy and stable home life. That is the exception, not the rule.
Women have been told that motherhood and keeping the home fires burning = slavery and patriarchy! The real slavery is working as a cog in a cubicle in a nameless, faceless building, clearing maybe $100 or $200 a week more than your babysitter/childcare costs. That is a waste of time. Worse yet are the ones who didn’t have a family because “I don’t need a man!”…yet the cats and the wine never fulfill that missing thing…
fathers or dads may have realized that they are far more efficient at home, commuting to work and wasting those hours is an expensive waste of money and time, and they really liked having a homemade sandwich and seeing their family. 5hey may have even decided with their partner that one of them should be home with the kids. Maybe they could downsize?
I know this applies to white collar workers, in dual income families, who are both married and have kids at home. So that is about, what 15-22% of 29-54 year olds. So this certainly doesn’t apply to blue collar workers or people who need to be somewhere specific to do their job (critical workers, anyone?)
But i do think there were some changes in assumptions during covid…it may be subconscious…but there were some shifts, I hope.
Sorry—this wasn’t just meant for you…probably should have been it’s own post! Lol.
What changed was not necessarily all on the parents and their parenting but the government, music industry, movies, schools: government drug running, child trafficking, gun running, indoctrination and mind control; schools teaching disrespect for parents, the flag-no Pledge of Allegiance, telling kids they have rights-no discipline in the schools and teachers punished; vulgar and violent music, video games and movies.
I see both sides on this one. I'm well-versed in the whole PMRC thing (I have Zappa's testimony saved somewhere etc) and that whole debate. And Tipper Gore really sucked absolutely.
On one hand, yes, these things were improperly vilified, like blaming rock music for suicides and all that nonsense. But on the other hand, it can't be denied that FPS games condition people for, well, first-person-shooting. And we've accepted far too much violence as entertainment. And, it can't be denied that there is TONS of programming in music - certainly today more than ever, see Vigilant Citizen site for example. It's weird now that while they were after some kind of puritanical streak regarding sex etc, they were actually right about the satanic stuff - which was subtle at the time vs now (interesting angle considering above post about TV etc, no?)....
Is it a possibility that FPS games and SSRIs worked well together to achieve a long-term goal of the slaughte4 of innocents and a potential public outcry to outlaw firearms?
I did not know that the US government was intentionally poisoning liquor to assist in the Temperence movement/Prohibiton. (Incidentally creating a sophisticated black market for alcohol and organized crime)
Why is it so hard to believe it could happen again, but this time, with the most important obstacle to a takeover of the US—personal ownership of firearms…
Like I say, I see both sides on this one. I'd even argue that the violence in video games is intentional in the respect of conditioning those who are ready for it/susceptible to it, as opposed to those versed in morality (whether sourced from religion or philosophy).
The same could be said about learning how to shoot in the military, or getting lessons from your pa, or firing BB guns, airsofts, or paintballs.
I think the bottom line is, if you have the right morals, the problem isn't Slayer or Megadeth, the problem isn't Doom or Mortal Kombat, or Freddy and Jason.
I'm sure if I said the problem was that husbands weren't disciplining their wives when they got out of control, OP would be up in arms. (Which I don't believe btw)
But this is exactly what the Cabal wants doesn't it? For everyone to walk in line and blame their scapegoat taught to them by their regularly scheduled programming. I have to admit that I am shocked that after all we've been through these 2 years, to see a stupid comment get so many likes.
This shows you how far off from The Awakening we actually are.
It's like people got their brain numbed by CPAC this weekend and reverted somehow! Sheesh!
Agreed, it was not just the parents…but all of those things together…at the same or similar times…almost like it was in coordination…as part of a plan? Wait. That’s nuts. It’s nuts, right?
Or is it just so crazy that it might just work?
Because no one would believe that it wasn’t just a coincidence that this all worked in concert to achieve a goal for the wealthy and powerful, while increasing the misery for million-fold more.
I’m far less inclined to believe in coincidences after being here a few years.
I remember being 13 and walking down the road with my friends all of us has .22 rifles going to do some plinking at an abandon rail yard. A cop pulled up and asked were we were going and we told him, he said hop in and I'll give you a ride. It was like 95 degree's out. That was a different time. Here we were 4 young kids with loaded rifles riding in a cop car and the cop had ZERO worries about us.
I remember driving to school with kids that had guns hanging in the back window of their pickup trucks and ammo under the seat. I don't remember them shooting up the school.
I've always felt that after both parents had to start working the parents left too much of child rearing to the schools (and perhaps used the TV as a "babysitter") and look how that worked out..............

Not my style in the slightest. I thought it was sooo stupid, full stop.
Agreed

You mean, after the globalist scum engineered society so that it became a mandatory 2-income household?
This is a really important point. Did you hear Bannon’s CPAC speech? Yes! It was a brilliant speech and said MANY things that NO one says in public!
Love Mr Noir's tweet!

He didn't go back far enough. It goes back at least to when Woodrow Wilson sold us out.

And parents
Okay, Tipper Gore.

But it doesn't condition you to shoot your family or your school.
That comes from lack of moral respect from both sides of the home.
That, you will find in the Bible, but not in OPs comment.
Gov poisoned alcohol to enforce prohibition

Yes this is very true! Raised around guns my entire life. I respect what it can do in the hands of a person that respects life.
I remember driving to school with kids that had guns hanging in the back window of their pickup trucks and ammo under the seat. I don't remember them shooting up the school.
TAXED to death. Hard enough to put a roof over their head......
Shooting clubs at school, rifles kept in school lockers, and guess what, no school shootings.
Let’s bring that back.
👋
Nailed it🐸👌
television.... music videos.... movies... all glorify gun violence and show life being just a choice of convenience.
When our government stops messing with our kids and creating degenerates in pétri dishes, thé shootings will miraculously end.
