As a been keeper, I'm not really too worried about this. What they are saying is that bee colonies out in the wild might be euthanized, in order to control the spread of mites.
Far more problematic is:
Where did the mites come from? How were they introduced? Who or what is behind this?
Distribution:
Varroa destructor is not established in Australia. Australia is one of the few countries in the world to remain free of varroa mite.
Due to our unique geographical isolation, Australia has enjoyed freedom from many of the agricultural pests and diseases that other landmasses are plagued by.
Up until now, Australian bees have been free from the vm. Perhaps I've become overly suspicious. aka tin foil hat syndrome. But, given how the WEF is trying to destroy independent and non-corporate agriculture, the outbreak feels suspicious to me.
Australia is an island. It enjoys what is probably the best agricultural and biological separation of any place on the planet. As such, we don't have a LOT of the pests, diseases and problems that plague other parts of the planet, including Nth America, Europe, and Asia.
One of the benefits of our isolation has been that we have enjoyed freedom from many of the pests that infest the bee populations in Nth America and Europe.
Australia has been the only inhabited continent in the world free from Varroa mites. Until 2022.
You want to sit there making excuses about why destroying the bees isn't a bad thing. You're full of shit. We have areas that crops get pollinated in the mid-west only because they hire bee keepers to ship in their hives for the growing season. You are either a shill or an idiot.
I guess the introduced bee mite issue wasn't fear pushing enough?
Now their also encouraging everyone to track their heritage livestock (which does sort of sound odd because i already thought this was a thing between pig pass etc. But I guess the new flocks you breed aint evident unless you admit it ๐ ๐ค
Just a side note, Iโve hardly seen ANY bees this summer. Iโm out in farmland/forest area of WA state. Itโs been enough to notice that there is almost total absence of bees. Itโs just weird.
That's depressing. Not sure what to think of this. Could be bullshit scare events, could be something introduced artificially to kill them off. Could be the environment being inhabitable for them.
Nature is so hardy, really incredulous to believe they're dying in mass.
I've been so concerned this year. There is a noticeable lack of bees, wasps and yellowjackets, and a huge increase in flies and spiders! I dont care for the wasps h yellowjackets but they at least keep the 'other bugs' population down.
Seems drastic. Just passed it onto the natural beekeeping group I'm in, will see how they respond. With rage, I imagine.
Yeah, I'm not an apiculturist and I'm outraged! I get mad when I see someone go out of their way to kill a bee.
With all of the other creatures that could kill a human that populate Australia, a 'feral bee' seems like low fruit.
No, the concern here is that 'feral' bees can be breeding grounds for bee disease, for bad natured and aggressive bees, etc.
The character of a bee hive colony can vary quite a lot. Some hives are very friends, easy going, others can be aggressive, and destructive.
Can't wait to see the reddit response to this lmao and how it's magically the right decision after years of bees keep the world alive posts.
Feral? As opposed to what, the domesticated kind?
Yes.
I think you people we just told to your faces they are going to starve you.
Communist Russians killed all the farmers, 6 million Ukrainians starved.

Timing seems highly suspicious.
From your experience, are an infestation of mites common in bees?
So you're saying mites may have been artificially introduced in the environment?
Bees have been here on planet Earth forever. From my naive knowledge, seems very odd to me, bees haven't evolved to deal with pests.
THERE WAS scares about bees dying off en mass but that news just suddenly died out all of a sudden. Really suspicious.
Varroa mite. They're destroying bee populations. Paul stamets found a cure for the mites using mycelium from mushrooms.

Here? In the middle of NSW?
How? Who?
The mites are everywhere, and have been for decades now.
No in Australia.

With the WEF attempting to destroy non-corporate agriculture everywhere, this new occurrence is highly suspicious.
Without pollinators a lot of crops could fail, and not just man's cultivated crops. A lot of the food for wildlife is pollenated by bees as well.
The cry for years has been that the bees were going extinct, and now some dumb ass has the brilliant idea of killing them off?
Bees are only one of thousands of species of pollinators.
Well alright then let's just go ahead and kill off all the bees. I'm sure we won't miss them at all.
Why not kill everything since redundancies in nature ate everywhere?
That is exactly what your side would like to see.
My side?
What drugs are you on?
Obviously not the same ones you're taking.

Sounds like a false dichotomy.
But I think the false dichotomy of your argument takes the cake.
Re-read my comments.
Australia IS the model of when the inmates run the prison.
I love our Aussie pedes though.

Australia can't afford to lose their farm crops... Very little terrain is farmable as it is.
Is this to give genetically modified bees to take over?
Maybe they mean 'africanized', but it's no longer politically correct to use that term.
Yeah, probably this as those colonies sometimes sting on sight.
Honey is natural medicine. Canโt have that.

Just put heaters in the hives until summer.

After they've combed every square inch of land looking for feral bees, they can go looking for the feral ants.
FEAR BS PORN at its worst.
