They will eventually steal money from the taxpayers to pay interest on all the money they owe taxpayers. Figure that one out.
If you contact your congress critter about this, you are required to sign some sort of privacy waiver, whatever the heck that is, for them to help you.
IRS ain't talking to anybody.
They do this, not providing people THEIR OWN MONEY, while gas and food prices soar.
Swamp critters everywhere. FIGHT TO WIN THE MIDTERMS!!! Work for good candidates. Work as poll watchers, poll greeters, or election workers.
If you think the IRS is hiring 87k agents...you don't understand comms communication. You will stay confused and angry until you learn comms. This is a revalation from my own personal experience.
thank you! yes!
The U.S. government doesn’t pay interest on the money it takes in from taxes. They aren’t like a bank. If we owe them money, yes we are penalized on it . But no. They are not. Unless you mean interest on borrowing money from other countries to pass these crazy bills.
https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/taxes/tax-refund-late-irs-owe-interest for information on how the IRS pays interest when it doesn't send a refund in time.
The new agents have nothing to do with the IRS and it’s current operations. They are effectively gestapo agents being placed in an agency with almost no rules and oversight. They will be sent to target those that the government deems a problem.
Those saying “you won’t have anything to worry about if you pay your taxes” are naive. The tax code is so complicated and subjective that dirt can be created on anyone. Secondly, most of the rules they will enforce don’t exist yet. Expect new rules in the near future to hand over your gold, silver and other assets to the federal government. Those that don’t will become “criminals” overnight.
This is why I pay for damn near everything in cash. As for gold/silver, the only gold/silver I invest in comes in the form of a cartridge/projectile.
If you can't make it yourself source it yourself, or physically hold it in your hands, it's worthless.
Filed in March - paper return because Turbo Tax wouldn't accept my farm accounting as accrual (not cash). They owe me several thousand. Crickets, so instead of contacting them (every agent has a different story and no documentation of any of it), I sent a copy of the original return with a memo on top. Crickets. Hopefully I'll get the $$ eventually. Until then, I'll do everything I can to owe THEM instead of having them owe ME. What a mess. I pity the new administration who has to take this department over when we finally kick Biden to the curb.
Funny how it works. You owe them + interest. They owe you, when they get to you.
You do know they shredded thirty million paper returns?
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=irs+shreds+30+million+returns&t=h_&ia=web
Yes, I read that. My understanding is that the 30 million items were supporting documents and not actual returns, but reading that is why I decided to send a second copy of my return instead of calling them. It apparently worked - I got notice today from the bank that an automatic deposit of my return is scheduled in the next few days.
Congrats. Color me skeptical about the IRS not shredding actual returns of those citizens due a refund. Either way, good that you resubmitted the return and got your refund.
the more the bureaucracy swells, the more inefficient it gets.. so it swells more... and well yes it's a snowball + hill situation and we're always the ones at the bottom
I use the withholding calculator to cut off my withholding to keep it near zero. Nice little xmas present.
Did you notice that when you owe them money they are very quick at forcing you to pay or seize stuff, yet when they are the one who owe you money it always take forever to get paid.
I gave up on expecting a tax refund this last two years
I just got my 2021 refund a few days ago. I had to wait until January 2021 to get my 2020 refund.
Good article. I know you submit things to A. Dog for Unleashed. Hope you'll send this to him.
Good idea. Will do.
Damn you and your inconvenient logic.
They owe me 5k.
Me, too
Shit. That's a pile.
Still havnt received my 2016 refund. Every one since then but no 2016. I mailed it in. Should have done electronically.
Nobody answers the phone at the irs. You have to contact by mail and they still never reply.
Shut up and comply!
Yes, we were supposed to get a 1400 or so return because we never got our last stimulus check.
We got a $17 return and I had to chuckle.
Thankfully, I have no kids and we can pay our bills, or that would have stung a lot more than it did.
Filed paper return in April and nothing. Status on their website says we'll be lucky to get it in October now. Not holding my breath. Unfortunately it's also holding up state return. Yay...
Are you aware of this?
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=irs+shreds+30+million+returns&t=h_&ia=web
Ugh, no I was not. Thank you! Articles say it was 2021, and ours were submitted in 2022. Who's to say they didn't do it again, though?
Ah, you're right about the date. Right also to suspect they might have done it again this year. Look above at anon summerstormAK's experience with them - resending your return with a note might get them to respond. Best of luck, in any case.
I saw that and was wondering if it would confuse them if we submitted them again, but electronically this time. Kek! Assuming they ever get around to processing the paper returns. Seems this is their way of forcing people to submit them electronically. And thank you! ☺️
Yep. My wife and I started the divorce process last year. Because we both moved out, they made her prove who she was. She did, and they’re still holding on to our return.
