A shoutout to anyone in the prison island of Australia, particularly to the capital with large masses of drones and zombies. You’re not alone.
Took the plunge and bought a 102mm Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope. Long focal length, can hook to a tablet to track stars. Pretty sweet deal. Planets are in a rare linear alignment, hoping to get a glimpse of the two harder ones, Uranus and Neptune. Right now to the east Jupiter is sitting majestically about 40 degrees above the horizon. Track a little to the west and Saturn pops into view. Neptune is somewhere in between them. Scope is due to arrive Sunday. For those interested, it's a good way to pass the time. I have had reflectors previously, and an old refractor. This scope combines the best of both. Looking forward to spending many nights in beautiful east Tennessee exploring the majesty of the heavens.

Had a conference yesterday with my 8th grader's English teacher and asked her to please refrain from telling her class that she's a lesbian who is marrying another woman (she volunteered this information to the kids), and furthermore, she (and all teachers) should refrain from teaching any sort of ideology. I really thought I was diplomatic, but she got angry. It made her even angrier when I asked for a reading list for the year; her response was "of course you want to control what I teach, but you're going to have to take the curriculum up with someone else because I just teach what I'm told." This particular teacher refuses to address parents as parents, she refers to us as "guardians" even when talking to the students. Fun times....I truly despise public schools (and I will absolutely take my daughter out of school if ever I have an opportunity).
We have a couple of teachers in our school that don't broadcast their sexuality [lesbians], but it is known that they are together. They are flying really low below the radar, but I have a feeling when word gets out they're going to be looking for other jobs because the parents here aren't going to stand for that shit.
Maybe you should...... maybe think..... about making that opportunity.

I will do that! I know the situation. My kids father wouldn't let me leave the state for 7 years and then he left the state and abandoned them. I wish he had fled A LOT earlier.
We know our gov't has clandestine groups and means of getting things done. But I've been wondering how plausible it is for this following event to have played out.
A person I knew was at the younger end of the age spectrum for service during the Vietnam war, and had gone to college instead of enlisting. While I'm not sure of the specifics, I'm guessing that's how it played out without his conscription. Maybe they didn't get his number in the draft. At any rate, he told someone close to him, while he was nearing death (about 14 years ago) that he had been recruited for a military operation to go to Vietnam, or perhaps another area over there, to take out a general or a higher up, as they couldn't technically do it officially. He was chosen from his college because of his knowledge with guns, how they knew this, I do not know. Others were chosen from different areas too. Apparently he was there awhile, but not too long for his parents to be suspicious he was gone from school. That was what I was told when I asked.
In his adult years, he was a bit reclusive and didn't like gov't. He buried guns all over his property in case they ever showed up. He was always a depressed person. Maybe he carried this around for years?
I believe this was all divulged as he was dying from a liver ailment, as I didn't know about it until a few years after he died. And I will add to it that I remember his tellling us in a conversation about his DI (drill instructor?) giving him directions but he wasn't enlisted, so he didn't have to listen. We were perplexed because we had no idea what he was talking about and we knew he never served in the military. It may have been delusion from his illness. I have no idea.
What do you guys think? It's intruiging and I've always wondered how true this may be.
I would believe everything he said on his death bed. All this sounds very plausible. You should talk to the people who listened to him first hand and try and get a complete and accurate account of what exactly he said.
I had a friend who could not get sober, he tried, but the VietNam war just did him in, he would tell me that if I knew how many men got shot in the back from their own goverment, I would be considered dangerous by the government. I remember that well, I know that he drank to keep something suppressed. He may have been telling the truth.
The only time I saw my older brother cry was when he came back from Vietnam in '72. Some kid spit on him at the airport and called him a "fucking baby killer." It was bad enough that 'Nam really screwed him up [his initiation ceremony for killing his first "slope" was to drink whiskey out of a boiled skull] but to have to face that when he got home almost broke him. He turned to drugs, lived a rough life, kicked it and turned to Jesus, but the damage was done. He died this past March. Even though we had a falling out, I tried to help him. You want to talk about a raw deal, that was his life. Those guys were doing what they were told, and the upper ups got away with it all.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. He dealt with more than most people ever will.
My person wasn't known to be a heavy drinker until he had an accident and messed up his knee and I was told the doctor told him the best medication was ibuprofen and whiskey. I have always thought that was highly embellished. No real doctor would say that. But I believe that combination tore him up. He was a smoker as well. He may have been exposed to AO. Who knows!

Sigh, after a totally dry summer, the man I buy cordwood from finally is delivering it, it has rained for a week, (Thank God, we need it) and it will continue to be wet and damp for at least a week. I do not get it stacked indoors, in the basement, until it has been aged at least 6 weeks outdoors, but now it will have to be under tarps , which protects it from rain, but does not dry it up that well Putting it inside is not an option, the dampness from it will fog up all the windows upstairs, and can cause mold. I had spoken to my wood guy back in July, and now he brings it. I have a real good stove, and about 1/2 cord of nice dry wood, to help get the greener wood going, if the fire is hot enough, it burns fine, been doing this for years and my chimney is clean, but gee whiz, it kinda sucks this late in the season. Prayers for rain will be changed to prayers for a dry October. Its 42 degrees this morning, but no fire, its not cold enough, lots of baking will warm the house well enough. But gee whiz!!!!!!
It' no necessarily....wet. Sitting in the rain does not make the "green" or Uncured. It can sit out in the rain all year and still be "dry" or "cured".
I used to heat like that when I lived in maine.
Nothing beats it for warmth, its radiant, and once the stove has been going for awhile on very cold nights, everything is warm to the touch.
I get the feeling lately that patriots.win is primarily stoking fear that is opposite of what I was seeing with covid. There is so much on there now that are short clips, unsourced, click bait headlines, incorrect information, flooded discussion, etc... that seem to want to stoke fear and anger. It's the same techniques I see with fake news.
At this point every bit of news at a local, state, and national level feels like its intended to invoke a response.
"Our Side" is not immune to the propaganda machine either. Good discernment. Turn off as needed.
When the time comes we have to show them the way. Until then, I can understand why they are so afraid. If they dont understand or not willing to accept that there is a bigger Plan at play, they are doomed in their thinking

Curious to see what others suggest...
Here's a call for help. My family and some cousins have gathered for a funeral so we're all in one spot. All travelled back from overseas.
However we have planned for ages (before the scamdemic and building permits takes ages to get) to rebuild our old houses and to collective pool our resources to do so.
Well, our building permits are out and got the go ahead to get things rolling. But I didn't expect a relative to suddenly pass and so, thought because of covid, I didn't think they would do anything yet until things have calmed down (another half year before they come back).
Now, I firmly believe the scumbags will tank the global economy, after when the GOP takes back the house and senate, or if they get very desperate to get rid of Putin, point being, yes, no one can tell the future but I honestly have to plan for them to get so desperate they pull off something nasty to tank things.
So, I have to convince my NPC cousins and family to halt their reconstruction ideas because if they start, what if everything comes to a standstill and everyone is holding a bag of shit: prices of building materials go through the roof, builders leave, materials can't be delivered etc ... not a good place to be.
WITHOUT, giving them the low down on what's really happening like the great reset green new deal, what convincing data point that I can I show NPCs to say that there's may be a massive crash and they need to hold off for now?
I don't want to get into the WEF and vaccines because that really would open up another can of worms, and I don't have time for that yet.
@Home depot a 6' 2x4 price per stick ($3.50) a year ago and compare to today ($8.00) Wood is a commodity so will Eventually come down in price after this Biden BS. That's could be more than double what your family was planning (maybe) and that's just wood, other materials, plumbing, electric, roofing, concrete & labor has also gone way up. Maybe that will convince them to hold off for awhile. We have been remodeling a house and we are just finishing up, thank goodness most was done before Biden, so now it's just small finishing items. Even back then we were using items from the REbuilding center.
Here’s the thing- if you hold off on what seems like a very important long term family project, it could get stalled for other matters, as well. Someone could get hit by a bus or idk, weather events, anything really. Look at your smaller world rather than the bigger world right now. This seems like an outstanding project. Look at the pluses and minuses for the whole project(s.) Is this going to be really beneficial in the long run? I don’t think housing is ever going to be cheap. Wouldn’t it be nice to have that security of having a family homestead you control for the most part? Don’t let the world stand in your way. Lumber is down, plumbing parts are cheap, so is electrical for the most part. You run into a lot of money with tile, countertops, roofing materials, some flooring but the biggest costs come from hiring contractors. If this is diy, you’ve got this! It’s really necessary to hire qualified pros for big electrical and plumbing projects but so many demos and renos can be done (with some online tutorials) yourself.
You have to go with your gut as well as what is best for all of you. Pray on it if you do that. You’re experiencing a stressful time so put it on hold a little while but I would not scrap it. I’ve done a ton of work on my own to my 45 year old house, even lately with prices being higher. They don’t seem unreasonably high compared to food and gas though. Idk where you live but I think it’s a fantastic idea. Hang in there.
I have "Heard" that lumber prices are down a bit. Do you have dry secure storage? Are you familiar with dollar cost averaging? you might consider building a stockpile of building materials slowly so that you can accomplish some reasonable amount of work without getting yourself in a jam.
I'm really grateful for this thread. Sometimes there are things that need to be posted, and sometimes there are things that just need to kinda need to be .. as we say down here in GA, word vomit. I was listening to Jason Ratz on Bongino today and he had a caller than mentioned his 401k and started crying. I felt so bad for him and started crying too, also because a month+ ago I was in tears looking at OUR 401k fatally bleeding. I was going to retire this year but I guess I won't be, and I am way Past retirement age. But I trust Heavenly Father will help us take care. I've started canning and freezer and growing a garden again. Gonna be busy the next few years but hey, you know what they say about idle hands!! I have to find the positive somewhere or I'll be crying ALL the time as well.
