Archbishop Vigano has written encouraging Christians to fast for three days—January 3rd to 5th—“to propitiate heavenly protection to the United States of America against the subversive attack of the deep state.” (media.greatawakening.win)

This comes in response to a letter to the Archbishop from J6 lawyer Joseph D. McBride, who proposed the fast for the sake of the nearly 1000 people who’ve been arrested in connection with J6.

depends on who you are and what you're capable of. while food is historically a very powerful fast, there are many other things you can fast from.

i commonly fast from food but it is also possible to fast from other worldly items... meat, video games, cigarettes, booze if u drink daily, social media.

just make sure that whatever your fast consists of that you have properly told God what the purpose of the sacrifice is and in moments of temptation, remind God of why you are continuing with the fast.

my wife has blood sugar issues and cant fast more than a meal without health issues,

more commonly she gives up coffee or gets up an hour early to pray ( yes, fasting can even be giving up sleep)

Without calories Im just very concerned about how Ill obtain the energy to concentrate at work :/

Sounds like you have never fasted before.

I have. In fact, I started a fast on Sunday to start the new year (no idea the archbishop was recommending it).

On Day #3 now.

You will not be weak or lack energy to concentrate.

Day #2 and #3 you might get hungry, but push through. If anything, you might find you have more energy and ability to concentrate.

Maybe not so much the first time because you are so worried about what will happen, but that is all imaginary due to the fact that we have all been indoctrinated that it is a horrible thing to do.

It is not. It allows the body to cleanse.

You will never know unless you try it.

As long as you're not super skinny already, a three day fast is not difficult. Drink water, black coffee, and green or black tea (no sugar or cream added). Have some good pink Himalayan salt on hand and use a bit of that on your tongue if you get really hungry. You want to be sure to get your electrolytes, so mineral drops like these are great to add to your water. Don't drink any flavored waters, the flavor will often make you ravenous.

The fasting subreddit has a great wiki. You can also check out Dr. Jason Fung on YouTube, he has a very informative channel on how to fast, and the science behind it.

Let me know if you have any questions. And remember, hunger comes in waves. Stay busy and it will pass.

'This kind comes out only by prayer and fasting.' ~ Jesus

Humans are beings both spirit and material/biological. Fasting is a kind of (humble) mastery or spiritual warfare, to intentionally put spirit 'in the driver's seat'. And it's also one powerful form of 'voting' that cannot be tampered with.

There are many other effective kinds of fasting: on bread-and-water (many worldwide fast on Tuesdays and Thursdays - the days Jesus was betrayed and killed - to ask conversion for the world); the total absence of food (for set hours or days);

minimal plain food (abstain from delicious or savory food - no salt, spices, sweets; drink watered-down coffee, etc.; also as you have said, there are minimalizations/fasts from online activities, entertainment, etc. + doing acts of goodness and mercy, giving alms to help people, etc.

.....................................

There are extended complete fasts, as when Jesus in the desert ate nothing for 40 days.

Secular fasting has been done also, such as by Gandhi, to increase the people's 'soul-force' in support of a just cause - such as the Great Awakening. (That's why political 'authorities' sometimes try to stop fasting by force feeding. But the moral/spiritual intent remains.)

Or for a city/nation-state, this 3-day severe/completely successful version is in Jonah 3:1-10:

Ninevah repents:

3 Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim to it the proclamation which I am going to tell you.”

So Jonah got up and went to Nineveh according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was [an exceedingly large city, a three days’ walk. 4 Then Jonah began to go through the city one day’s walk; and he cried out and said, “Forty more days, and Nineveh will be overthrown.”

5 Then the people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.

6 When the word reached the king of Nineveh, he got up from his throne, removed his robe from himself, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat on the dust.

7 And he issued a proclamation, and it said, “In Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles: No person, animal, herd, or flock is to taste anything. They are not to eat, or drink water.

8 But every person and animal must be covered with sackcloth; and people are to call on God vehemently, and they are to turn, each one from his evil way, and from the violence which is in their hands.

9 Who knows, God may turn and relent, and turn from His burning anger so that we will not perish.”

10 When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their evil way, then God relented of the disaster which He had declared He would bring on them. So He did not do it.

If you haven't done one before, drink water during your fast. When you are feeling incredibly hungry, drink some water. Pray.

Remind yourself why you're doing it whenever you're hungry.

Having done different kinds of fasts (water, liquid, Daniel fast, dopamine fast, noise fasting, etc), I have found the most powerful times are where I'm alone, reading the Bible, journaling, and worshipping. I'll add in some cleaning here and there to break up any lulls, but overall those are good days.

I prefer Jewish style fasting where it's sun down to sundown, instead of wake up and sleep style (full day fasting).

I may try that next time.

Celts also count the day starting from sundown the night before.

If you happen to remember, keep me updated!

Last fast I did sundown to sundown and just read Leviticus. I never read straight through before. What was the most boring book on the Bible became very interesting, and made me appreciate Jesus sacrifice, and just how meticulous God was about setting up the Messiah for down the road.

For American Catholics, a proper fast is one meal per day, and up to two small meals that together are less than one full meal. It is not terribly strenuous.

Im sick currently and need some quercetin so I think ill use a protein shake

If you are currently sick, then all the more reason to do a REAL fast.

No protein shake. You will recover your health faster.

Fortunately, I just happened to begin a fast last night at 10 pm! I was figuring to take it through tomorrow and adding another day for the sake of freedom and my health sounds fine by me! I have only done a three day fast twice before and while the second day can be rather tough, once you get over that hurdle, the thrid day is hunger free; for me at least! Both times i could have taken it to a fourth day, but I am fairly thin anyway and no need to get crazy! Almost everyone has enough body fat to feed themselves for a few days! Just stay hydrated!

What is the point of fasting? Does it allow us to channel our energy better or something? I fasted inadvertently for the last week while I was sick, didnt notice much.

It enhances the spiritual life by eschewing worldly things, and encouraging humility and gratitude.

Yeah, being malnourished for days will accomplish...exactly nothing, but OK

This is basically the same as someone saying "Praying to an imaginary sky God will accomplish...exactly nothing"

This couldn't be more wrong to anyone who believes in God and what the Bible instructs us to do.

Basically...pray and fast.

Fasting to encourage humility is not only scriptural, but has been a fixture in Christianity since the beginning.
