Not afraid to say this made me emotional. I never post here. Only small comments. But I live a very, very lonely life. So sometimes interacting here even just a little bit makes me feel like my life isn't a big dumpster fire for a while. I appreciate all of you people from wherever. Bless you all.
I'm right there with you, fren! I have terrible anxiety which leads to panic attacks when I'm out and about so this place is like my window on the world where I can chat with neighbors (i don't know my IRL neighbors because they have all moved away because of the economy or passed away). I, too, am grateful for all the smart and kind hearted frogs in this community.
I take care of my disabled husband. 10 strokes in 3 months. Dementia, aphasia, barely talks, watches motortrend all day to keep his BP down. Kids are all gone. I only get out for emergency groceries and pharmacy. I'm a life long empath. I feel every single thing. Going out is a huge pain in the ass. Easier to talk to ppl online, because I can mostly separate the feels out of the content this way. Might as well be a bot I guess. My big companion is a chihuahua named Steve. He has a bad attitude but at least he's someone to practice my voice on lol
I pray our beloved u/Mary911 sees your post and comes with her wisest advice to soothe your pain, Dear. Until then, have a hug and flowers, LQdy!π€π
Bless you for caring for your husband. Too many families force ailing family members into nursing homes. Don't think of Steve as having a bad attitude. Think of him as being a lovable curmudgeon!
Oh he's a good dog(mostly)...steals cookies from toddlers and revenge-poopz in the hallway from time to time, but he's right by your side if you're sick or hurting or upset. I will never put my husband in a home. It was bad enough having him in hospital and stroke rehab. His best therapy has been among loved ones who actually know him and care, and he recoils at hospital staff. Being defensive against hostile braindead robots is no way to rehab.
He sounds like a wonderful companion! Who amongst us hasn't taken cookies from toddlers or revenge pooped in the hallways? Lol.
Nursing facilities are terrible places (not necessarily the fault of most of the employees.) The ones with most patient contact (CNAs, housekeeping, etc.) are low wage workers who are frequently overextended and sadly not treated well by their fellow employees. I was the HR manager in a skilled nursing facility so I had a ringside seat to the circus. My philosophy as an HR person was that my position was solely overhead so the lowest workers are the ones who are the producers who pay my salary so I always tried to help them whenever I could.
Yeah...my oldest was a cna in a LTC until a year ago when she refused the clot shot...she was their most popular cna..put in the most hours, took all the extra shifts, treated her residents like gold. The ppl above her treated her like a faceless number and I hear they felt it when she left. They're still trying to get her to come back. She loves the residents, she'd love to go back for THEM. but the corporate abuse got too much, and constantly standing by, watching the ppl die of the shot was taking a big toll. That kid is a hero to me. As are alot of the cna's in those places.
I sympathize with what you are doing as it shows you love your husband very much. And with all his disabilities, you must really be starved for someone to talk to such as your little dog Steve; even though he can't talk back. And it must get monotonous watching/listening to motortrend all day to help keep his BP down. You are one loving, giving woman who makes great sacrifices for your husband. I really don't know what to suggest to you, as it seems you can only do so much, but if you and he had some moments without the television, you could read some Bible stories to him. I find these very comforting. You'd be surprised what dementia patients remember as I used to keep my neighbors wife who died from it. She couldn't remember what she had for lunch, but she could remember things from her past. And if your husband was brought up in the church, he will not forget God. Perhaps it might even bring a smile upon his face. Anyway, welcome to our board as we are a caring group of people. Anytime you need prayer or suggestions or someone to lend an ear; we are here for you. And remember, YOU ARE A VERY WONDERFUL LOVING CARING HUMAN BEING. God does not forget those who make great sacrifices for caring for others. God bless you.
Thank you and you're right about what they do remember...he was literally raised in a church parsonage...his dad was a Lutheran minister. He seems to remember all the hymns, order of service, and more popular passages. Before his strokes he always used to tell us all to remember that the shortest, most important sentence in the Bible was this: God is love. And that has been the basis for most of his life's decisions. I've never known a more loving human being, ever. I know that though we are being tested, our love and faith in the Lord is strong. I tell him what I tell my 2 yr old granddaughter when she's struggling: you've got this. I guess I should tell that to myself too. Thank you for responding and taking the time on this lonely stranger. I don't often fall apart, but today has been difficult. Definitely a test. Hopefully one we will pass.
You are okay. We all have moments when things don't go right and we get down in the dumps. But you come to the right place to get lifted up. Praying you are having a really good night. Tomorrow will be a new day. God bless.
It's ending a little better than it started π
If this is a contest between chihuahuas with a bad attitude I win. My last living dog is an 18 year old chihuahua, he'll be 19 next week. Cataracts, hard of hearing, two lipomas (but he's too old to survive another surgery), and his incontinence is off the chain.
Please read all of this threadβs comments once again, our daily prayer is the key to not being alone.ππ»π
Thank you!
Thank you!
I shall pray for God to put more of our love in your heart, Fren.ππ»
Thanks and bless you. That made me cry too. Glad nobody can see me lol
We donβt want you to cry, we want you to join our daily worldwide prayer organized by our best Fren u/Slechta5614 ... I join daily for the 20:00 Central European time session and it changed my life to know good people were praying with me for us all everywhere. This synchronization is a marvel.
I personally join a minute sooner so I have some time for an « Our Father » then a « Hail Mary », then some personal praise to our Good Lord.
Oh gosh, what is that in central time? My brain is wrecked. Bless you, sweetheart. If I'm ever able, and figure out the timing, I'll do that.
Central time it would be 7pm. If you tend to forget stuff like me, I encourage you to set an alarm. It really helped me. Hope to have u join us. Feel free to reach out if u ever need prayer or a fren to vent to. Love you God wins
The alarm is also the reason I begin a minute sooner, so I am 100% with you when it begins.ππ»π€
Just ask u/Slechta5614 ππ»β€οΈπ₯π
This put a smile on my heart and face. Keep praying. Keep spreading that light. Love u fren. Thanks for the kind words and for helping us spread this prayer movement. God WINS
Youβre my Brother in Christ, Fren!ππ»
Please contact u/GodFirstBro_ and give her the details she needs (as well as a hug and flowersπ€π) because she needs to know what we know.ππ»
Will do. Thanks fren. God bless u. Love u
This is beautiful and true, but I will add that you never know how God may work, and what we have expected to be always nameless and faceless may miraculously become quite real and familiar before the curtain falls on this remarkable period of history.
He is able to do infinitely more than we could ever ask or think. π WWG1WGAWW
Well said.
Love this! πΈ
Well, being in South Africa, u/Purkiss80 can see the Southern Cross, which I never saw, and cannot see Orion, which I can see from the Swiss sky.
Beautiful meme otherwise.ππ»
Thank you so much...None of us is truly alone and just a little note to all here who are feeling alone, up/down whatever it may be you must know that you have 100's of frogs here from all over the Planet who listen and care...That's why we do what we do...We are Not Crazy...ππππ»ππ»...Stay strong...
