Why isnt the name of the Cargo carrier who owned the chemicals that were deliberately set on fire known? That seems a bit sus to knowingly ship toxic chems and not have precautionary packaging or be notified immediately to participate in the cleanup unless...it was deliberate.

Any info? Any thoughts?

Norfolk Southern was the carrier, but I'm guessing you mean the owner of the chemicals. They might also have owned the tanker cars.

Yes that's correct. Who paid Norfolk to transport that massive load of toxic material and to where was it intended (if not for a possible planned derailment)

Railcars are generally owned by leasing companies that own the cars and lease to the railroad. I'd imagine this arrangement arose as a way of improving ROIC of the rail companies by offloading a large asset base to a third party. Unclear to me who has ultimate liability in the case of maintenance-related disaster.

I wonder though if people dealing in toxic stuff have to own their own cars, or if there is some special arrangement for them.

No the manufacturers don't have to own the shipping containers. It would be no different if you sold a carton of eggs on ebay and they were received broken and 3rd party asks if you or the chicken that made the eggs own or made the box the carton was shipped

Railroads have liability to conduct their business to the appropriate standard of care. Whether they did that or not depends on the circumstances. If, as I have seen elsewhere, they were alerted by some kind of fire or heat sensor but instructed to continue on another 20 miles until implosion, and that ends up the proximate cause of the derailing, they will for sure be liable.

If they were not privy to the type of cargo they were hauling, that can impact whether or not they are liable - assuming it changes the standard of care. Ohio is a comparative negligence state. Which means you are liable for the % of harm a jury assigns to you as fault. You can bet that plaintiffs lawyers will sue anyone that touched that train and let them fight it out. Railroad will likely seek contribution from other possible tortfeasors.

There’s hazmat being transported by both rail and truck 24/7 at any given time in the US. Presumably they were properly labeled as hazmat, the issue is mostly the carrier disregarding safety measures whilst transporting this hazmat, and possibly further in getting proper info on specific chemicals involved to first responders, as this wouldn’t be a first in a hazmat incident.

Maybe the whole thing is a complete hoax? That movie white noise follows the same plot. If patriots are in control this would be a major fuck up if real, or great theatre contributing to the move to the precipice.🤷🏼‍♂️

I just assume everything I can not see with my own eyes is fake... and maybe not even then.

Assuming everything that you can't see with your own eyes is fake is just as asinine as assuming everything you can't see with your own eyes is real.

It's easy and requires no thinking.

Why don't you drive over there take a nice deep breath and chug some river water and report back if it's real.

The name is Norfolk Southern. Not being snide but you can learn this in approximately 60 seconds of googling.

FYI: I did Google and came up with nothing but vague regurgitated news articles and only the name of the transport companies NOT who owns the actual cargo B.O.L. THIS is the reason I ask.

I made this post yesterday? Also added Maersk in my comments. I have no clue though if connected or not Fren. Didn't get much traction, so I'm guessing probably nothing. I'm still new to all this and not great at it. Won't lie. If it helps great. Let me know.

Trains routinely carry toxic substances all around the country. There are all sorts of hazardous materials regulations for it. I think it's the Department of the Interior that deals with that type of thing. Maybe the Bureau of Explosives and Hazardous Materials. Interstate Commerce Commission. And I'm sure the EPA has their own red tape to be dealt with.

You might try starting with some of those.

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I'm getting the impression that people are thinking that it's somehow sketchy that a train was hauling such a large load of toxic substances.

It's not. It's the main way toxic and hazardous materials are transported around the country. We certainly don't want the highways jam packed with tanker trucks full of all that crap, waiting to get hit by some idiot driver.

Well the alternatives are shipping and trucking hazmat materials. And it is very rare to transport hazmat materials via the air.

That is good.

What is concerning though is the lack of urgency to clean up the disaster area.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– ImaSueDeNym 2 points 3 years ago +2 / -0

Is there a lack of urgency? What are we basing that on? A lack of reporting by MSM?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– GA_Logic 1 point 3 years ago +1 / -0

According to independent scientists there is a lack or urgency to clean up and secure the area.

But looking into this particular load and who ordered it can prove a lot. The OKC bomb started with a large order of fertilizer. That in itself is not uncommon but connecting all the dots tell a different story and conclusion or...collusion.

Norfolk Southern

Norfolk Southern only transports the cargo FOR others. Like trucking companies, UPS, USPS...WHO is the owner of the cargo? Not sure how to access a Bill of Lading with Norfolk to identify the shipper via the transport carrier.

Why do you believe that the owner is important in this situation?

Would it be suspicious if this large container of chemicals was purchased by a gov agency? Would it be sus if this was a "1st time purchase" order/shipment to or from a certain company? Who owns the company? What ties have they with politicians, terrorist groups, DS, CC, Biden, etc?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– ImaSueDeNym 2 points 3 years ago +2 / -0

I don't see why anyone would go to the trouble of purchasing a large container of chemicals in order to perform some illegal act with it.

It's not like there is some shortage of huge tankers of toxic chemicals criss crossing the country every day to choose from.

Ok, so let's look at shipping yards they may have come into from overseas. I know Detyens shipyard is one in the Southeast. CHARLESTON SC. Other than that. You have ports in TX, Savannah GA, Virgina. Where else?

Each tankcar has a label/placard system with certain coding & hazmat info to easily identify the materials in case of an emergency. This is required by law & I’ve yet to see one not in compliance while cruising the neighborhood stopping at tracks daily/every other day. Just do a quick online search of some of the placard codes next time you are waiting at a crossing & it would blow your mind to know what is traveling around the community every day. UN1170 for ethanol, UN1017 for Chlorine to name a couple & show the naming convention. The thicker wall/smaller body tankcars are typically the scary ones.

I’ve been in the tankcar manufacturing industry for years & it is not common for the customer/product owner to be discussed or identified in these scenarios. Primarily, the carrier (in this case NS) & manufacturer of the car take the heat (receive Federal Rail (FRA) investigation & govt crawling all up their asses). Many of these end users/buyers are big oil & gas producers, polymer/plastics producers— Chevron, Phillips 66, PPG, etc. Very likely this is just a routine buy for the end user. Not to say it isn’t fishy, whatever’s happening with this deal. The lack of coverage and lack of “muh environment” by the left is crazy imo. My personal belief is this is just an unfortunate scenario with no real “evil purpose”. Maybe everybody is too transfixed on aliens to care.

I would suggest looking into the names of the box cars carrying the chemicals. Ie: I named Maersk as one. There are many others I don't know the names of. I also mentioned Cargometric in my post, maybe they have names of who they use? Also I posted yesterday a thread of NS , and who they got some of the box cars they used from.
