So I just saw this post from yesterday:

Last night my Ford Bronco wanted to do an update and said the same type of things (your car won’t be accessible, etc). Never had that before in the 8 months I’ve owned it. Anyone else with a different model or brand get that? Anyone else find it strange Chevy and Ford both have the same type of update put out at the same time?
My daughter-in-law just bought a 2020 Chevrolet Suburban because she has 5 kids and her old vehicle just wasn't running good nor big enough for her family. She and my husband, her's is out of state in the oil fields, had to read the manual to figure something out. The key doesn't work like a key, you simply stick it in and hit a button, or you can start it from your smartphone. I told her if I had to read a manual before I could operate my vehicle, I simply wouldn't buy it. I wish they'd bring back the old 2 and 4 barrel carburetors without any computer systems. Today's vehicles are too complicated for most of us old folks.
Fuel injection is better, by far, than carburetors on ICE. Fuel injection tech peaked in the mid 90s - they had wide-band O2 sensors, and simple computers.
Turning cars into software platforms over the last 10-12 years is where everything has taken an evil turn.

What about all those window's updates, what they really doing in your PC, not a geek.
Computer geek here. I use "O&O ShutUp10" or "OOSU10". Im able to easily block all their ports and host files and whatnot they use to backdoor our data.

Thanks, the check is in the mail
Ever since I read “One Second After,” by William Forstchen about an electromagnetic pulse attack, I’ve wanted to get an older car, probably pre-70s. Any car with a computer will be rendered useless if an EMP attack hits. I suspect such an attack is likely at some point.

My car doesn't do any updates, and if i ever get one that will do updates, i'll be talking to someone to help track down the processor to disconnect it.
Been noticing an uptick in all kinds of odd updates around the home last few weeks too. PC, Apple TV, iphone,.....issues out of the blue having to reset router and modem etc. Not a coincidence, feels like something is definitely going on behind the scenes....
My car is from 2005 so it's probably too old for remote stuff. I'm not a mechanic so who knows. It doesn't have a GPS or anything. I do think it's suspicious that both companies just happened to have an update at the same time. Not a coincidence.
Maybe they are installing a kill switch.
Does anyone think they'll be able to move around during the ten days darkness?
Maybe those 15-minute cities we read about in England are being put into effect here without anybody noticing.
The infrastructure bill Biden signed mandates kill switch on all new vehicles by 2026. It's sold as a DUI prevention tech but I'm sure it will allow law enforcement to disable ignition like OnStar in the end. I just want a Hilux diesel 4x4 to last me the rest of my days.
And if we can move around I doubt it will be by auto; Probably bikes, dirt bikes, and foot Travel will have to do.
I never see anything like that. What year did they start doing this? Does it show up on your dashboard, or through an email - or what? I'd be leery if I were you.
Showed up on the screen system when the cat was turned on. Leery indeed
I just bought my husband an older truck and told him I wanted an older car. Now I know why my spirit was leading me towards this division.
It's nothing to worry about.
