HOW DARE WE feel guilty of polluting that much when we’re not?

I can see how Philippines, is surprisingly large in water waste here. But I would think, china and it’s magnitude of manufacturing capability, is doing significantly more damage to the water than what is being portrayed here, through chemical byproducts and such. And let’s not forget, all those plastic junk floating around in water or even in landfills, I would suspect most of them would come from china
I wondered that too. I suspect maybe there are some twisted statistics and weaponized empathy at play here to get The Philipines on board with whatever this group is selling.
They don’t really have to try hard it’s well known the Philippines conform quite easily and bend over to corruption and it’s populous are very very easily deceived.
I was totally unaware it was such a problem from the Philippines. I never woulda guessed 3x India.
For anyone that has seen the coastline of the Philippines, it’s surrounded by slums. Not just the slums contribute to the mess, I don’t believe Philippines have a good waste management. Everyone’s rubbish eventually ends up in the sea, and it’s disgusting. Even in some “resorts”, the beaches are disgusting. I would only trust waters away from Manila and other bigger cities.
yeah, not to mention that the pasig river is very much polluted
I've been to Vietnam and Thailand and can confirm, the waterways there are choked with plastic waste, and every other kind of waste. Every fish meal you eat is sus. At some markets, they run metal detectors over, prawns, for example. They're testing for lead content. No joke
Indonesia is right there with them. Non existent waste disposal and everyone drinking from plastic bottles...
The article is wrong
The Yangtze River (China) pollutes more than all of the other rivers combined..

China has a lot smaller landmass-to-coastline ratio than the phillipines

I've read much of that waste is from Africa.
I wonder how much is from USA and Europe.
Most of that waste, in the pacific came from the us and was shipped to China for recycling. They took the money and dumped it straight into the ocean wear the natural currents took it out of the harbor.
I read that in an Asian newspaper years ago.
It was so bad China refused our rubbish a couple years ago. I bet we send it to Africa now
Yes they started to refuse it after it made the press. All the plastic in the Pacific's comes from liberals trying to recycle, if they just buried it like normal people it would not have been a problem.
You couldn't make up this stupid shit if you tried.
To be fair the media was blasting the benefits of recycling for decades
But they made up the false narrative that their was a problem putting them in Landfills......
I don't see America in that pie chart.
"Rest of the world"
I can't speak for other countries, but yeah the Filipinos just through plastic down. In most places there aren't any trashcans as they will dissapear to be repurposed. Plastic sashettes are how many things are sold. Coffee with creamer and sugar, just add water, toothpaste, shampoo, soap. laundry soap, downey, everything just about comes in small packages, in fact larger packages like shampoo often cost more per oz.
Everybody and their neighbors want to have a Sari sari store, which is basically a grill in a window or a small outbuilding where they sell small quantities. You can buy 1 egg, 1 gram of salt. They still have soda in glass returnable bottles along with plastic bottles that cost more. You can pay a deposit OR more common they will pour the soda into a plastic bag and give you a straw. Why pay 25 Peso for a plastic bottle of soda when you can get the same amount of soda for 15 peso?
People earn 5 to 7 bucks a DAY money is tight! So tight that they don't use toilet paper.
I know it seems counter-intuitive but these garbage rafts are incubators of life. The open ocean is mostly lifeless. These rafts provide nurseries for countless fish and other species.
People in poor countries aren't spending much time thinking about the environment, they are worried about day to day. Most people in the west spend more for their lunch at McDonalds than the poor countries have to feed their families on, and that isn't just Man, Wife, and Kids, often other relatives also living off that one persons pay.
They pay monthly salary and theres no OT, no second job, and getting one job is quite a task. Some local food might be cheaper, but most food sells at global prices and if its cheaper then the quality is lower.
I almost got jumped in Philly because I (sarcastically) picked up and handed a van of black Muslim women and their kids the mountains of trash they threw out of their van in the parking lot of the shopping center.
Nobody GAF about recycling when all they care about is consuming fast food and shopping.
we came back from Costco and after unpacking and transferring everything to containers and such we were left with one big garbage bag of all the plastic and cardboard packagings.. nuts.
Guarantee that's the result of regulations. Plastics/petroleum lobby at work
Somebody sure is PULLING SOMEONE'S LEG and it ain't ours...HMMMMM!!!!
Guess the dems want everyone to believe that they are for the environment...uhhh NO...
FYI on Electric Cars...I do hope that everyone realizes that there is NOT ENOUGH LITHIUM in the WORLD TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES that are being used NOW...ref. below!!!

Look up “bunker fuels” too
They should do the Paris accord then
Need to abolish the Paris Accord
Still, limit your plastic use. Micro plastics get into everyone's bloodstream and turn you into low testosterone, moody androgynous beings that get taken over by globalists.
