Back when California was Beautiful. It also leaned heavily Republican
Yeah, it is difficult to imagine that Ronald Reagan was Governor of California at one time! I guess the last good governor that they have had. Pete Wilson and Arnold were very lame; even though Republicans.
Girly men
When freeways were actually free. Before Willie Brown, Gov Brown's first reign and his establishment of public employee unions that have robbed the state blind, and before Rose Bird the criminals' welcome mat.
BINGO - We have a winner!
I remember visiting San Francisco when it was a livable city, staying at the Mark Hopkins Hotel, walking the streets in safety, never seeing a bum or a pile of shit on the sidewalks, taking the trolley cars to different places, dining in great restaurants, and thoroughly enjoying myself. I wouldn't attempt that today for any amount of money.
^^^ This^^^ Same with my Favorite, San Diego. Last time there was two years ago...Some streets the smell of Urine was overpowering, and also had to dodge a few human Piles ON THE SIDEWALK :(
Before I retired, I used to have to go to kalifornia a couple of times a year, on business trips. Of all the cities I had to stay in, San Diego was the only one I really liked.
Sorry to hear that it's gone the way of SF and LA.
Yes...It is my FAVORITE town...Not going back until the State is "Cured"!
I am with you 💯 % Fren. The Golden State is now a pile of “fools” gold.Very very sad 😞
That right there is a golden quote, thanks.
Yes, great quote!
Wow! I wish I knew that San Francisco!! And I was born and raised there. It was never safe.
ETA: I'm a Gen X
I am GenX, left the area in 6th grade, but I remember riding bart to an oakland As game with my older brother and group of friends, parents dropped us at bart station. Maybe it wasn't safe then, but it would be suicide now.
Back then BART was safer than riding Muni but now it's all the same.
Well, I'm a bit older than you. I saw "Bullitt" starring Steve McQueen when it premiered in movie theaters, so...
In a single theater, right? No multiplex! Loved those old movie houses.
Yup. Long ago and far away. I miss the America that I grew up in.
I grew up in anaheim and lived near SF in the 80s. Pier 39 was always fun to visit. You couldn't pay me to visit either cities now.
I was born in San Pedro, CA in 1952, when I was growing up it was just like "Father Knows Best" and "Leave it to Beaver". We never locked our doors and all the "moms" in the neighborhood made sure ALL the kids were fed and taken care of. I left in 1989 and moved to the NC mountains, best move I ever made.
Thank you for sharing Anon. I grew up in Sylmar next to San Fernando. We use to go to the San Fernando Swap Meet when it still had an Airport right by its side. I now live in Vancouver, Washington and I am thinking of moving yet again because of the DemonRats that run this state and are turning the beautiful scenery into a cesspool of homeless camps. Cheers 🥂 Fren
I understand the sentiment, but at the time this picture was taken, the Democrats were a ragingly racist party still committed to ideas of racial superiority and many to segregation. They were Americans then, that's true, but they're Americans now too, and their ideas haven't advanced or improved one bit. We need to stop believing the fairy tale that the Democrats tell about their own history.
I think what you intended to talk about was patriotism, and my question then, is can you be a patriot, loyal to this country built on ideals of equality of opportunity for all citizens if you follow a political party that explicitly seeks to deny that equal chance to some? Think carefully, because they still want to do this today.
Yes American Patriotism is implied in my post.
Of course the communist Democrats want to be American as much as the Illegal Invaders being offered equality of opportunity so that they can get their unearned California Drivers licenses and Bank Accounts without having to be Americans.
It’s a very complicated equation. Regardless of the fact that Democrats are Communist Americans and some American Patriots believe in the Communist fairy tales we need to press on and keep pushing for American Patriotism not Communist Propaganda by fighting for what we strongly believe in. We need to be as stubborn with our ideals as they are with their lies. Maybe even more stubborn.
Their fairy tale of a communist 💩 needs to be stopped across all platforms. We need to fight for our beliefs even harder. A man and a woman created in the image of God is a hill I will die on.
Nevertheless it all begins with being a REAL American Patriot first 🇺🇸 . Just because an illegal jumps the fence does not offer one the equality of the TRUE American’s Opportunity.
Let me be perfectly clear… I agree with your sentiment as well.
I grew up in Los Angeles and San Bernardino in the 70s-90s. Left when I was 21 thinking I'd take the kids to see it someday. That day never came, and never will. I miss how the beaches were then. It's tragic what's happened to such a once beautiful place.
Evil will be punished Fren, in Gods time.
I keep reading and hearing in commas that it will be “BIBLICAL”
Knowing that and reading these scriptures always comforts me:
Deuteronomy 32:35 King James Version
35 To me belongeth vengeance and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.
Romans 12:17-19 King James Version
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Barely... I remember Reagan fucking up on immigration.... so most of my life has been a massive blue commifornia.
He made a deal with the dems and of course, they didn't hold to their part of the bargain.
Don't forget, he WAS a democrat first... he idolized FDR...
He was an enigma tho... he also carried a well worn copy of "The road to serfdom"
In 63 through 66, I was in the Navy and spent several of those years in San Diego, San Francisco and Long beach-all I had to worry about was getting gypped by some stores. I spent time wandering the streets and often renting a room for the night just to be alone for a bit after the crowded conditions on a light crusier.
10-15 years later, I lived in Chinatown and watched as the Rodney King riots invaded and wrecked things-I would go to the train station for a journey south and the filth was depressing. I will never return, the hills are alive with the sounds of demented shrieking..
That was before Obama turned them into what they are today!
Pepperidge farm remembers. :(
