Tonight is the night that Paul Revere and William Dawes, 248 years ago, rode out of Boston to warn the Minute Men that the British were headed to Lexington and Concord to disarm the citizenry. Tomorrow is the Shot Heard Around The World.
I think mine were nine generations back from me … I am the 11th from the guy that came from Scotland. His grandchildren played parts in the activities of April 18 and 19th.
That is such cool family history. One of mine is cool but a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time… my great great great grandmother was at Ford’s Theater the night that Lincoln was shot.
Correct. And honestly, as soon as all this bs is over and we have full liberty again, I want to pursue my happiness in life and work exactly like back then.
We have elected lawmakers and they think that it means to create ever more laws and restrictions 24/7 and all 365 days.
Their next task has to be LAW-REDUCING and they will be called LAW-REDUCER!.
Imagine that. The whole "pursuit of life, liberty and happiness" tenet of America. Interestingly enough in this context, it was "property" before being changed to "happiness". I think both are valid in their own way. It's the core tenets of our country that need to be restored. It makes sense though, considering we were usurped long ago. Time to bring back America again!
I didn't knew that, do you have a source or link, so I can read about it? I would like to have more information on that, how it was changed, who did it and how that came about!
Longfellows wife died after her dress caught fire. Thanks to those who invented flame free fabrics and I think the government mandated that. Government CAN do something right on occasion.
Fun fact for the day. The Northeast was so settled in colonial times that even Vermont had been stripped of its big timber. The sugar maples which are responsible for the vibrant red leaves in the famous fall foliage now were allowed to grow because the other bigger trees had been chopped down by the early American settlers.
He didn't tell them to take up arms and attack, he was alerting them they were being attacked. At night. By hordes of British regulars and German mercenaries who already had shown extreme disrespect for colonists, whether or not the colonists were cooperative or loyal, by seizing property and food and drink, beating and hauling any dissenters off... Can't imagine why they'd be so keen to know the redcoats were on the march.
I agree. I never said he said. Just wondering if after yelling, the British are coming, he had added some part about being comfy, not worried; if it might have dampened the furor with which the patriots defended themselves.
They met Samuel Prescott coming back from visiting his girlfriend. She was a sister to a minuteman that played a role in the activities of the following day. Prescott was captured and died in captivity. The minuteman brother died of swamp fever during the war. My linage goes through a different brother that survived. When the British retreated from Concord to Lexington they burned the family’s home and clock factory resulting in my family suffering 1/4 of the country’s losses on April 19th, 1775.
After losing one wife, then his second wife of 6 children, Longfellow wrote after his son was hurt in the civil war......
I hear the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
I thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of a Christendom
Had rolled along th'unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
And in despair I bowed my head:
"There is no peach on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace of earth, good will to men."
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is NOT dead nor doth he sleep;
The wrong shall Fail, the Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men."
His faith after all the sorrows he suffered in this life are an inspiration to me that I will remain faithful regardless of how I may suffer at times and that he is always there for me.
Naw couldnt possibly have been because Revere, Dawes and Prescott dont roll off the tongue when reciting a poem.
I completely understand the role 33rd degree Freemasons play in this epic but I refuse to believe that the Patriot Freemasons were working towards evil. It is an absurd notion. People raining doubt on our Founding Fathers are working a narrative that goes against MAGA. Evil men dont write documents like The Declaration and Constitution. They dont found Nations on the principles espoused in those documents.
You history is accurate your conclusion is utter garbage.
Longfellow's poem was masonic propaganda. Washington expressed wariness of masonic propaganda and other founders expressed concerns too, The founders lived in a time in history when the Weishaupt illuminati were infiltrating the lodges. The founders were not the same people as the masons that came after them.

My 6th great grandfather answered the alarm at Lexington. Proud of my Patriot!
I'm proud of him too.
I'm proud of all you pedes!

Sons of the American Revolution will help you do your lineage and locate documentation. (DAR as well) Finding out where you came from is pretty cool.

That last sentence..... I'm ready
Same here!!!
Back when ordinary citizens could still afford a house
Back then ordinary citizens claimed a place, chopped the wood and built it together with family and friends.
Yep, exactly. And no EPA or government entity telling them where they could build or how they could build.

They haven't worked 365 day in the last 10 years combined. I guess their laziness has some value.

I've always liked that poem.
I have ancestors who were involved in the Revolution, though details are, unfortunately, somewhat sketchy.
What if Paul Revere had insisted people not take up arms but instead remain comfy af.
He didn't tell them to take up arms and attack, he was alerting them they were being attacked. At night. Are you suggesting violence?
Did Paul Revere?
Did you?
Nice try CIA man. Just pointing out different strategies in history during revolutions.
Huh. Mr. tough guy (that's you) suggests violence, but turns out to be too much of a pussy to admit it.
Next time, put down the bud light, and own it.
remember when I psoted on this forum two years ago, a job listing on Indeed for a National Guard Vaccine Deployment Specialist ?
question for the group: That posting is in my post history, how can I search only my archive to bring up the indeed posting ?

One of my favorite Christmas songs, and despite the two months solid of repetitive holiday tunes on the radio, one which I seldom hear.
Unlike "All I want for Christmas is you", which I'd be happy to never hear again...
This is a profound post fren. Thank you for remembering to us the gift of Christ's birth in this difficult spring.

Longfellow's history is inaccurate.
