Thor bombed Guardians was boring. They even blew the soundtrack. How the heck do you blow decades of great music?
But Park attendance is still high. For some reason; people will pay almost any price to take their families to make memories
My advice, take it or leave it, Universal in Florida offers far better bang for the buck.
I saved for years to take my kids on an awesome vacation down in Florida. Got on some Florida message boards and asked if I should take them to Disney or Universal and the answer was overwhelmingly Universal. That's where ended up going and we had an AMAZING time. I can't imagine Disney being any better.
About 5 yrs ago my wife and I did both, 5 days at Disney (and $~5,000) and 3 days at Universal at a fraction of the cost
We were blown away at the value of Universal. Poolside rooms at the Universal Resort, food was better and way cheaper. And the all-day Express Pass meant we enjoyed rides and didn’t spend all day in lines
We will be back with the grandkids
So happy you had a great time; and likely saved a lot of money. Disney is immersive and has fantastic rides - but the wait times (assuming you can get into the parks) makes the value untenable imho. And I have been to WDW over 10x for vacation. Back when Downtown Disney, Port Orleans, Adventurers Club and the free refills on the resort Aladdin mugs were all the rage. It’s not at all the same; which is a shame
That's awesome! Don't get me wrong, I'd still like to experience Disney one day since I've never been. But we definitely didn't regret our decision to go to Universal.
Like you, I feel like if we're going on vacation we're going to do it right. So we got the fancier resort and the Express passes. We barely ever had to wait in any line. The one ride we had to wait for was Hagrids Motorbike because it was new and they didn't allow Express passes. Which, btw, ended up being our favorite ride. HIGHLY recommend you go on that one! It was so fun.
On the whole, it isn't, but some of their individual rides are unmatched (Avatar: Flight of Passage and the Rise of the Resistance.)
Lego Land is a legit alternative to Disney. 💪

Just in time for summer, guess they aren't expecting big crowds like they use to get. Though there still are lots of people that have no idea what's going on or don't care and will still spend all their money taking their kids there.
