Nice move. Custom firmware are stronger security than most built-in firmware. Assuming the code of the firmware is Libre Source (Open Source).
For those not familiar with firmware mumbo jumbo, it's the software stored inside each router. For stronger security, it is important to update it periodically. Same for any devices.
Asus Router with OpenWRT firmware
My favorite routers are Asus. The ones with Libre Source firmware. For example, this ASUS RT-AC68U at:
Question plz : I believe it was wireless B that was allowing us to connect in 2004 up to a few miles away, I briefly had set it up, entirely thanks to My late mentor/old business partner. Could one still buy a setup today and is it reliable?
My first impression of DDWRT is that it is stronger security than a built-in firmware. But DDWRT has weaker security than OpenWrt
Why? Because the source code of DDWRT is mostly a Jail Software (Proprietary) and partly Libre Software (Open Source). In comparison, OpenWrt is mostly Libre Software. This means OpenWrt has much stronger security and stronger privacy. Source:
If you think that's interesting, 4 years ago, ai could turn any lightsource a camera sees into another camera, buy taking how the light bounces in the image it can predict the new view and objects. Good enough to read a playing card from the missing side
But .. but .. but .. if you have no crimes to hide why wouldn’t you want an Alexa in your house ?? ( my Mensa / liberal sister is a MORON- actually set up a cleaning/ de contaminating station to “clean “ her groceries during Covid ) I live in the country- grow vegetables/ have a bloodhound and sigh...
Question?
I just purchased a new router and when I hooked it up it said 5G was the preferred hookup.
I told hubby NEVER use 5G so we went with the one we had previously, which is NON 5G.
So here is the question - is the NON-5G going to track us?
I watched some Spanish show on Netflix ... I think it was called Money Heist. It took place in Spain. Something they showed w/o any sugarcoating for the audience was how the police could access any camera anywhere at any time. Doesn't matter if it was a computer, cell phone, security, etc.
I was kinda surprised they did that. It made things "too real" for people unfamiliar with that little "feature" of modern technology to digest. It reminded me of the end of the one Batman flick where Morgan Freeman threatens to quit if they ever use the cameras in Gotham the way they did again.

And this is why I am stoked I learned how to put custom firmware on a buffalo router back in the mid-2000s Purrs like a kitten to this day

Benefits with this router:
Frequent & free firmware security updates
Easily turn off the wireless. Using a physical button on the router. A digital button within the control panel.
Optionally physically fully disconnect the antennas. Then just use wired connections ;)
High quality product. But still affordable.
One hell of a reply, my good sir!

DDWRT is what I use on my router. I've had zero issues at all and it has built in VPN capability along with all the security bonuses.
Ditto.
Thanks for sharing :) I learned something new.
DDWRT also support my router at https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Asus_RT-AC68U

That logic works just fine until you realize that your continued existence is in the way of the NWO.

My understanding is that any Wi-Fi, including but not limited to 5G, spies on you.
The 5G is a higher resolution spy sonar camera. Think of 1G has a VHS spy camera compare to Blu-ray spy camera.
If you need stronger privacy, I suggest a router WITHOUT any Wi-Fi.
My favorite one is ASUS RT-AC68U. Details in my other comment at https://greatawakening.win/p/16bihqeEBp/x/c/4TvA9j7Orrz
Thank you!
All wired everything. Helps with electrosmog too! And no remote access hijacking the airwaves :D
Reminds me of one of the recent Batman movies. Insane how much access those in control of this data have.

Doesn't load for me anywhere
I couldn’t load either link given, tried turning off vpn, and tried another browser.
