TLDR - I've gone out of my way to avoid ads whenever possible for about seven or so years now. I believe that exposure to advertising has more of a negative impact on people than most might realize, and I highly recommend considering an 'ad detox' if you have not tried it before.
--
For a specific example, starting (or at least accelerating) in the 1990s, cereal and other junk food companies began targeting kids in their ad campaigns. This is abhorrent and has had significant negative health consequences for the population. Eating sugary cereal as one's daily morning meal is akin to snorting a large quantity of cocaine, studies have shown sugar to be as addictive as cocaine, at least in some ways.
Another important example is with shutdown mania of the past three years. I didn't experience this myself, but I heard from others that advertising channels were blasting "New Normal" messaging over and over across all channels at the beginning. I feel that a big reason I have been able to maintain my sanity and coherency throughout this, in spite of incredibly difficult personal circumstances and experiences, is because of my intentional avoidance of ads.
Ads (and media at large) are also used to degrade personal sense of self, which helps create zombie 'consumers ' of the products and services increasingly only provided by behemoth, monopolistic corporations. Women are frequently degraded or portrayed as sex objects to be dominated by men (see also my posts about Nazis/Nazi degradation of women, and about porn). Men are objectified both in a similar sexual fashion and in certain harmful stereotypes, such as the 'emotionless provider'. This is of course reinforced through all mass media including corporate news, movies and shows.
It's also important to note that the effectiveness of ads is only enhanced when people are exhausted and distracted, which many people are to an increasingly significant degree.
I could talk more about the negative influence of media at large (increasingly serving as a parental or guiding figures for youth), but I will leave it there for now.

God bless and PRAY PRAY PRAY!
I don't watch TV.
Ads are not a problem.
^This right here. I haven't watched TV in years. My wife still does and I'll plop down for a minute with aspirations of trying to spend a moment with her, but usually the first commercial that comes on makes me cringe and sometimes even gets me downright angry to the point that I need to just walk away.
I work swingshift, so it's easy for me.
But I didn't watch much, before I worked this shift.
We don't own a TV and haven't seen a TV advert for around a decade.
We have had no cable, satellite, or local TV connections for years but do watch streamed shows we choose without ads. I noticed the deception and general mind infection caused by advertising back in the 80’s when I was like 10. When you are excited about food as much as I was, and still am, you notice real quick that the Big Mac on TV looks a lot better than the one you get served. New from them on commercials, all advertising for that matter, was all mind trickeries.
I have been blocking and avoiding every possible advertisement that might pass my way for decades. I can't imagine why anyone would not do this.
The sole purpose of advertising is to control your thoughts and actions for the benefit of others who probably do not share your values.
I recognize myself.
No advertising here.

We dont watch TV in our house, except for very occasional HGTV. It's striking whenever we put it on to see ads - like every 2nd or 3rd ad is for some drug, and half the drug commercials are for AIDS medicine - they'll be gay guys kissing on screen etc, impossible to watch TV now if you have little kids. Also, what % of population has AIDS that it's profitable to run ads to them? Are they anticipating something?
It is impossible to watch tv with an 8 year old. I told him they want to brainwash you with their ads. The really bad ads are on the Hallmark Channel too. The shows are supposed to be G, but the ads are the complete opposite. AIDS ads... Football games now have ads by Ritz Crackers about Trans... Basketball games have really, really bad ads. Like they are targeting young boys... Kids learn by modeling. They copy what they see! If they see it they will copy it. So, we busy ourselves with other things... I bought him a puppy and we play a lot of games, draw, read good books, exercise... I'm tired, but at least I know his brain is free.
Don't forget Joe Camel campaign, cigarette ads for tweens. Fast food, two hundred dollar sneakers and then Posh Spice began posing with large pricy hand bags in your face. Most people can't really afford it but by it anyway and feel that they should have theirs, as they do work hard. The ads make you I think it's something you should have, brainwashing it up to a 'need'. Most society in debt from stuff. I hate shopping. The ads and merch in the aisle make me NOT want it!
I don't watch tv and limit my exposure to radio ads.
So I have been able to avoid the disinformation for a while. I had that elevated sense of being able to read between the lines as I was driving down an empty road in May of 2020 soaking in the Florida sunshine.
I didn't feel superior than others rather fortunate that I could see the propaganda for what it was with the plandemic.
Ad brainwashing is surreptitious, and subtle. Normies don't realize what it's doing to them. I can't stand ads, they make me make feel physically ill if I keep hearing them.
This is me but I started about 20 years ago. Even during rush I waited till the show was over and would stream the commercials free version.
I purposely don’t look at billboards when driving.
Ads offend me in so many ways.
Same with the billboards.
The tv shows played in between the commercials are just as bad. They promote a degenerate lifestyle.
They aren’t even trying now. The premise of the show is secondary.
Watch the first few minutes of a show called “Lone Satan 911”for a laugh. It has every promoted woke cliche except a tranny drinking a Bud Lite. It does, however, feature as one of the rescue team, in full make up and heavy lipstick a Muslim Woman dive into a river from a bridge to save two helpless white kaffirs.
Sorry. That’s Lone Star 911. Don’t know how Satan got in there.
Yeah I've never understood how we've let the one thing that peopled hated most about entertainment dictate to what we are allowed to be entertained so they can then put ads on for everyone
When I gave up TV. Five years ago. I had no idea what would happen. The comfort and ease I would get sitting down an watching my shows. Fortunately, my shows became rubbish and I could not stand it. It took some time to find a new routine but I did. Now years later when I do see TV, in waiting rooms or at a repair shop I'm jolted by what I see. WTH am I looking at. OMG is that on tv. It's all rubbish, trash and crap, walk away. Your life and time are better spent on your family. My children are growing up, and we play cards and boardgames. Make memories, they are the next generation. Sounds corny but it's true. TV programming it what they call it for a reason. It's YOUR programming they are talking about.
Way ahead of ya!
Cut your cable. We did, about ten years ago. We've never missed it.
I haven't watched regular commercial television in a long time, I sometimes watch films and shows without ads.
Apparently it makes people paranoid.
Not only TV, but also Radio.
