I watched an interview last week and she was saying people tried to kill her. I'll try to find it. I think the person used to work at Fox, Megan something I think. She doesn't take crap from people and I respect that.

Fuck the r/FuckCars people. Personal vehicles must remain. Even walking is better than rail.
Rail is fine on it's own. It just can't be a "replacement" for anything. These systems work because there is competition and the system that does the best job for any part of the requirement gets used.
Meanwhile.. Freight is fully monopolized, Amtrak is a government run monopoly that rents from the Freight people. American rail, out of all of them, is poorly suited for passenger service.
Oh.. and the CEO of Amtrak is appointed by the Secretary of Transportation and must be someone with several years of rail industry executive experience. The position only pays $1/year, but there's up to a (last I checked) $500k/year bonus for meeting certain targets.
In any case.. systems without competition suck. Although, Amtrak sleepers come with a free steak that isn't all that bad. If your train doesn't break down and your service cancelled.
Rail is good and dandy. You can move large amounts of cargo, large numbers of passengers and do it for cheap. This works really well on the scale of Japan with bullet trains for example.
More ways to commute for people is good; you never know when your car will need repairs and you can't afford/can't find/don't want to spend the capital on a rental.
A subreddit like "fuck cars" sounds stupid because they would appear to believe that cars are bad, but that's retarded. Doesn't mean rail is bad.
