Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way

Any idea who owns Ground News? They boast about being an aggregate news source that provides balance, but they beat the daylights out of climate change. Some liberals use it, claiming it's an unbiased source for information. They reportedly were co-founded in 2018 by former NASA engineer Harleen Kaur, and app developer Sukh Singh. It's hard to find any info on who actually owns them, but they seem to be tied in with Apple a lot.

~The Sphinx
Is the sphinx some type of a band or something like that?
Because they’re used to be a guy on here that I would always say the Sphinx has spoken. Like he was some kind of Nostradamus. Anyway, I think he got banned. Just wondering if this was a reference to that person, or an actual band or somebody called the sphinx. Lol!
For those hear that, no… Take a walk down memory lane. Lol I had forgotten all about that.
The Sphinx
Oh, that is so cool. Thank you for sharing.
Ben Stiller is a butt-ass and Paul Reuben is a perv, but Mystery Men is such a hilarious movie.
It’s sad, because I really liked some of those Ben Stiller movies.
Take time this weekend and remember how much God loves you.

For the record,I do NOT consent to anyone other than God Almighty to read and/or censor my thoughts.
Try harder! 😂
Tomorrow’s going to be your day, I promise!
Edit: I think I’m supposed to say some thing like a Lib tard…. Do Better!
Note: In perfect satanic reversal mode, "progressive" today is actually regressive, ala return to the babylonian Moloch systems of old.
"Be Best". I saw it on a Whitehouse Christmas ornament.
Be best - is better! 👏👏👏
Did you get my link to that song that I sent you today?
Ever since she sent it to all of us, it pops up in my feed every once in a while, and I think of you. Thanks for being a FREN.
Lol 😂.
I’ll try! 😔
So are there any alt-med ideas about glasses? I made a post awhile back but a mod told me to move it to chat.
Anyway, was thinking that a good % of people wear another mask on their faces, and I'm tired of mine. I'm pretty sure the cabal have withheld the secret, as the famous people don't seem nearsighted like a lot of us plebes. Thoughts?
See my reply below. I didn't see you post and commented on (lovemygod).
My vision was excellent as far as needing reading glasses until I started being on the computer to play games, they went downhill in a year. Fried my retinas I think.
I had perfect vision until I was in my late forties to fifty. I could always read bumper stickers and license plates from far away. Now going down the road I can barely tell the state on the license plate. It's sad when my husband can read it, his entire family has been in glasses most of their adult lives. I think it was a combination of screens, prescription drugs and cortisone epidurals. Twenty years on meds for pain and ten years of cortisone (3x year). I was diagnosed with cataracts 1.5 year ago.
There's supplements and herb supplements that will slow down eye degeneration. Please do research from different sources. I'm posting a few links I've found. Hopefully you can prevent further damage. Unfortunately I'm past that point and surgery is my only option.

There's an herb called eyebright. Eye Bright

I have not taken this supplement. The company is good. Eye Supplement
Thanks, I don't blame myself. If the cortisone is the reason I don't regret it. I can't be sure either way. Those epidurals kept me going and with out them I would not have been active. I've needed another one for months and keep putting it off. I don't push the limit, four a year is limit and I usually do two times year.
After my father passed away, I inherited some money. I had cataract surgery on my eyes. Basically it’s just a lense replacements. It was $5000 per eye, it was the best money I’ve ever spent besides my vehicle, that I paid cash for. So I don’t have a car payment now. But I digress…
If anybody has any money stashed away, I highly recommend getting your lenses replaced. It’s been about seven years now, and I can see perfectly. I can read print on medication bottles and packaging at Walgreens. Or otherwise…
I will never regret spending that money on my eyes. It’s been the gift that keeps on giving. I highly recommend.
PS what they did for me is something called mono vision. One eye is for up close and the other one is for far away. So I don’t need bifocals. But I think you have to have a certain type of vision discrepancy for that. Just saying.
Thanks for sharing your experience getting cataract surgery. I'm ready! I have been putting off reading books, Bible and doing crafts.
I highly recommend it! Just make sure you find a really really good doctor so you get quality care. I am so grateful that I was able to afford to get my eyes done. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself besides fixing my teeth. Lol.
To answer your question yes. I went to Perkins and Delaney in Arizona. He’s one of the best eye doctors in the west.
Anyway, yes, they will just replace your lenses. I did not have cataracts. They do one at a time, and once the eye heels then they will do the other eye. It takes a couple weeks or so, to get both done.
You’re awake, but not really. They put you under sedation, but it literally takes less than five minutes for the whole procedure.
The monovision you cannot tell any difference. Your brain calculate everything for you. The only way you would know a difference is if you were to close one eye, right or left. My left eye is up close small print, my right eye is far away vision. I don’t know what the technical term is for all that. I guess it just depends on what your personal vision is though. That’s just what I qualified for and what worked for me.
Anyway, back in the day it was $5000 an eye. But to this day, I have no regrets. My vision was so bad, I had to wear contacts and glasses to drive. Always had an eye infection and just irritable eyes.
With all the money that people spend on frivolous things, just putting a few dollars away each month, and saving up would be worth every penny. I don’t have to worry about contacts anymore, losing glasses, finding glasses, and just the overall frustration of feeling inadequate when you can’t read some thing when you need to.
This is the office I went to. It’s been almost 7 years now, and I could still see better than most people. I’ll be 60 this year so I think I’m kind of kicking ass in the eye department.

Pencil pushups are helpful.
Thanks! I've known people who have benefited from vision therapy. Have you heard if it does anything for myopia?
By the way, in looking up some pencil pushup videos, I found this for myopia: https://endmyopia.org. Fellow has a blog, Facebook group and YT channel. Writes halfway between a "keep clicking until I charge you" and Robin Williams style. And offers real stuff without charge. No verdict yet, but I'll check it out. Promising website name, though.
NO - I Am Last !!!
This is what happens when you working at night, I’m for sure going to be last each time. Try harder next time. Lol!
🤣😂🐸
Please provide the addendum. I’m confused and disappointed.
Also, your comment about people being disappointed, and for it, potentially to be real.
This is the thing. I’ve had a lot of disappointments lately. I can’t even begin to make the list. So coming to the general chat, and talking about being disappointed, in a joking manner, really lifted my spirits. It gave me such a belly, laugh, and such camaraderie amongst all of you - it was the one thing that lifted me out of my disappointment.
Thanks for pointing that out, because it was exactly the case. For me anyway. 🥰
👍
🎉🥇🎉
Congratulations!
Whoop whoop!
I will never let you down! 🤪
I saw Depeche Mode at The Pacific Amphitheater CA way back in the day. I was in my 20s and I’m going to be 60 this year. But it was a great concert. Fun times. Great song! Thanks for the memory.
