There is a guy that won with not much money by standing at the same street corner over and over with a sign “I am running for X, pull over and ask me questions.” Then anyone that pulled over he would record and put the tape on social media.

It will also help if you get a solid base of supporters that are willing to go door knocking for you.

Go to as many events in your town with lots of people and start talking to people.

Door nocking and yard signs are the way to win. It's also nice if you can get a copy of your state voting records, to use in organizing things. It's a public record data base here in Oklahoma and cost about 100 dollers to get a copy.

Make sure you don't have anything in your past, that they can manipulate.

If I were to run here's what I would do. I would acknowledge that most voters are not politically savvy. They vote for familiar names. So put your name out there as much as possible. You will get a lot of hate but you will get a lot of love. Be like Trump. He knows a lot of people hate him but he puts his name on everything. And it works.

Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, 4Chan, Instagram, Tik Tok ... if you haven't started yet you might already be too late.

Understand that we live in a great time when the country is divided nearly half and half. This is great because you already know that no matter what your stance is on any issue 50% of the people will hate you. And that's awesome. You know you don't have to waver to appeal to those people. (This is something Hillary was bad at - she tried too hard to appeal to everybody so she pissed off her hardcore supporters by saying things to attract people from the other side of the aisle. She might have gained a few supporters from the other side but they didn't balance out the supporters she lost from her own side.) Know who you are. Know what you represent and stand firm with those ideals.

Watch videos of powerful people from the past giving powerful speeches. Don't copy them outright but learn some of their gimmicks.

If I was running I would pose it like this: "Is it really possible for an average Joe to run for a political office and win? Join me as I go from start to finish . From the minute I announce my campaign until election day. You will see me being interviewed by all possible funders and supporters. I'll put together a team who will interview people on my campaign trail. Because I understand that elected officials are public servants who are elected by the people, for the people, to do the will of the people. I have ideas of my own and I will share these ideas with you but public service isn't about talking - it's about listening. I WILL LISTEN TO YOU. What do YOU want ME to do? Talk to me! Let me know!"

Call your state Republican party (only because they're the only game in town besides Dems) and find out what candidate classes they have. You can also contact the Virginia Project and take some of their zoom candidate classes or ask if there are similar groups in your state.

Most important of all, find one or two pressing issues that the voters in your town care passionately about - job opportunities and drawing new businesses, sensible planning and development, transportation issues. If you offer a solution to problems that your neighbors really care about, all the entrenched politicos won't be able to stop you. Editing to add - surprised so few people cite this. This is crucial - if you don't have a good platform on issues that will motivate people to get out and vote for you, all the fundraising, door knocking, advertising, volunteers won't get you elected.

Gather support from friends, especially those who are active in the community and leaders in business or other important facets of your town. Then rub your shoe leather down to shreds knocking on doors and attending events where you can talk to and meet voters.
