In this week’s portion, Vayishlah, Jacob wrestles all night with a mysterious angel representing God. Because Jacob successfully survives this encounter, his name is changed to Israel. The translation of Israel is “to struggle with God”.
The word ISRAEL itself is an amalgamation of the names of three prominent ancient gods.
I think what's fascinating is the linguistic evolution and cross-cultural exchanges over time. In ancient Egypt, we have the worship of gods like Isis and Ra. Then, moving forward in history, you have the Hebrew term Elohim in the Old Testament. It's intriguing to ponder how ancient religions and their deities influenced each other and how these influences might be traced linguistically and conceptually:
ISIS: In ancient Egyptian mythology, Isis is a goddess known for her roles in healing, magic, and motherhood.
RA: Ra, or sometimes Re, stands as the ancient Egyptian sun god, holding a central position in the pantheon.
ELOHIM: A term from the Old Testament in Hebrew, Elohim can be translated as "God" or "gods", and it's pivotal in Judaic contexts.
It's a reflection of the rich tapestry of ancient religions and how they interplayed and evolved over time.
Tangent here. As some of you might know, I'm an amateur Egypt expert (whatever that means, LOL). The Jewish "side locks" originate in ancient Egypt.
Children and Pharaohs: Young boys in ancient Egyptian art and sculptures are often depicted with the "sidelock of youth", including representations of the god Horus as a child. Pharaohs were sometimes depicted with this sidelock, especially in rituals emphasizing their youthful vigor and connection to the gods.
Symbolism: The sidelock was a symbolic hairstyle, signifying the wearer's youthful innocence and purity. It was typically shaved off as they reached adulthood.
Priesthood and Dedication: Children dedicated to temples or part of the temple priesthood might also sport this sidelock.
It's intriguing how hair and hairstyles had significant symbolic meanings in ancient cultures, much as they do today.
Israel existed long before 1948, and was then destroyed.
This is what my pastor has to say about Israel and the Hebrew language:
For those who know the Bible is literally true: The Bible is full of prophecies that have been fulfilled, but also ones that are in the process of fulfillment TODAY. One of these is that five cities in Egypt will one day speak Hebrew: In Isa. 19:18 we read: "In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will be speaking the language of Canaan (meaning Hebrew) and swearing allegiance to the Lord of hosts...."
This prophecy was made 2,500 years ago. Since it was made Hebrew ceased to exist as a spoken language, and Israel ceased to exist as a nation. No nation spoke it. It was only an academic language, existing in books. How then could this prophecy ever be fulfilled? Further, Egypt, Palestine and all of the middle east have spoken Arabic for 1400 years. In all that time Israel as a nation did even not exist. Just the idea that Egyptians would one day speak a dead language like Hebrew was crazy.
So for this prophecy to be fulfilled, Hebrew had to be raised from the dead. Today, it is alive again! Hebrew serves as the only successful large-scale example of linguistic revival.
Today, Hebrew is spoken in nine countries.
And it is the ONLY official language of Israel. We see the fulfillment of this prophecy is just beginning. Israeli commerce will make speaking it advantageous for Egyptians wanting to do business with Israel. This is a miracle all by itself.
NO OTHER LANGUAGE has ever come back like this. It has never happened. The Bible is not just a history book, but God's road map of the future.
And another of our church members:
Not only is Hebrew as a language been the only dead language to have ever been brought back and widely used, Israel is the only nation to have even been completely destroyed as a nation, scattered around the globe, lose their land, yet retain their unique identity and come back as a nation - after 1900 years of not existing and being integrated into other cultures. No culture or religion has ever survived like this. Statistically speaking, the fact Israel is a nation today is completely impossible. But GOD!
Oh? Did you know? There are two distinct creation narratives in Genesis:
Genesis 1:1 - 2:3: This is where God creates the world in six days and rests on the seventh. It's more structured, presenting a kind of "cosmic order" to the process.
Genesis 2:4 onwards: This story focuses on the creation of Adam, then the Garden of Eden, and eventually Eve. It has a more "personal" and detailed approach, especially concerning human beings.
Scholars believe these two narratives originate from different traditions or sources, which were later compiled into the book we have now. It's a testament to the rich and layered history of biblical texts.
I'm not too into "scholars", I just let God talk to us Himself through the Scriptures He has provided.. unfortunately, many people listen to man instead of seeing for themselves what God has to plainly say. There really should not be any other approach to the Bible than this.
Sounds flat earth to me. Respectfully, the Bible itself specifically emphasizes the value of seeking understanding. Proverbs 4:7 says: "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Additionally, Acts 17:11 praises the Bereans for examining the Scriptures daily to see if what Paul said was true. To fully grasp God's Word, active study and discernment, guided by the Holy Spirit, are crucial.
I believe this is what he might be referring too...
1 John 2:26-27
These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
The first is a literary device, like a poem or edict. The second is in a historical narrative form. Genre is the difference. Scholars and "experts" don't all agree on the literary origins. The two accounts do not need to contradict or be problematic to accepting what is written in them. It is simplest to accept that Moses got the information specifically from God during the 40 years in the wilderness wandering when he would daily meet with Him.
What an excellent comment. The creation stories are neither consistent nor inconsistent. They are best viewed in the context of the historical continuum within which they were written. For instance, the second biblical creation story in Genesis is an incomplete replica of the Sumerian creation stories. The first is clearly 100% ancient Egyptian. I have been in the secret crypt underneath the floor of the Dendera temple in Abydos, Egypt, which contains the "Dendera light bulb," which is pretty much the exact creation myth that is first talked about in Genesis. Just amazing.
Yes. Twice. It's utterly amazing. The temple is from the Ptolemaic times (when early Greece ruled Egypt) but the crypt is underground. A sacred place for the priests to secretly teach their most treasured, sacred knowledge.
I do of course wonder how the crypt would have been lighted... haha
Here's what GPT says about it:
In the traditional Egyptian context, the image is interpreted as a depiction of the creation myth. It generally includes a lotus flower spawning a snake within, representing aspects of Egyptian cosmology. The "bulb" could represent the womb of Nut, the sky goddess, who is often depicted arching over the Earth in Egyptian art. The snake often represents aspects of creation and divine wisdom. This combination of elements could be interpreted as the birth of the sun or the creation of the world in a metaphoric or mythological sense.
He was on Joe Rogan, too. Also look at Graham Hancock's stuff. And apprehend the book "The Giza Power Plant" by Christopher Dunn. Here's a lecture by him:
Is it any wonder the human author, Moses, was educated in Egypt? As the story goes in Genesis Joseph was used to organize the prosperity of 7 years to later funnel all the ANE wealth to Egypt and make it the dominant country during that period of history. Later after 40 years of becoming a somebody Moses got to spend 40 years learning to be a nobody to round out his schooling with practical life experience. So we have a guy with literally the best education in the known world with the humility of one pardoned of murder leading God's people to salvation and codifying their history and culture. It's a good story.
Israel is Jacob. Nothing to do with the occupied territory of Palestine. And if you are a Christian you should know there is no difference from Jew to gentile any longer after the Christ came to redeem all of humanity. The whole chosenite bs and the churches telling you to bless Israel with money for us to be blessed is all a giant scam. Look at how long america has been sending blessings to Israel, pretty much since it became a state in 1948 and America recognized it as an independent sovereign nation separate from Palestine. What has sending them billions of dollars done for America? It seems things have only progressively gotten worst from there on hasn’t it? So much for blessings.
Perhaps you can share your wisdom. It’s good to ask questions to those who have already made the journey. It’s good to ask questions to others, when you think you already have the answer.
In Genesis Ch 35, God changes Jacob’s name to “Israel.” Once the Jews settle into the land promised by God to Jacob’s descendents, collectively the 10 tribes that settled north and east of Jerusalem (Asher, Dan, Ephraim, Gad, Issachar, Manasseh, Naphtali, Reuben, Simeon, and Zebulun) were called Israel. The tribes of Benjamin and Judah established the Kingdom of Judah in the south. The 10 tribes were disconnected from the Temple in Jerusalem by King Solomon’s not-so-wise son, and these 10 tribes eventually were “lost.” The promise was that the lost tribes would be gathered again together—possibly why the name “Israel “ was chosen for the country.
The current state of Israel is a creation of the Rothschild cabal, so it is of the Synagogue of Satan. That is why they have pyramids and obelisks there.
Pyramids in Israel: While Israel boasts a plethora of archaeological and historical sites, it doesn't have "pyramids" akin to the famous ones in Egypt. There are ancient structures and burial sites in Israel, some with a pyramid-like shape, but they're distinct from traditional pyramids.
Obelisks in Israel: Traditional Egyptian-style obelisks aren't present in Israel. However, Israel does have "steles" — stone monuments, often inscribed. While they can sometimes resemble obelisks due to their shape and function, their design and historical significance are distinct.
A lot of Christians interpret Revelation as a physical return of Jesus Christ to reign from Zion which is the City of David, old Jerusalem, which is Isreal.
I do not interpret Revelation as being a physical end times book. I believe New Jerusalem is already alive and well in the world through the sealed of God, followers of Jesus Christ.
Here's a spiritual interpretation of New Jerusalem.
Zionists want to rule the world from Isreal. That's how I see it. There is a difference between a physical zionists and the spiritual order of the 144,000.
Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
The 144,000 is not a physical head count of Jews on mount Zion with Jesus.
144,000 is a symbolic number for perfect government. Jesus Christ in His saints governs us perfectly. All of the Jewish references in Revelation are spiritual realities in the present church that Jesus Christ is Lord of. It is present time spiritual reality, not something of the future natural world.
Political Zionism is no different than the Democratic Party of America or the Republican Rinos laundering money with Israeli owned and operated companies. It’s all a dam sham.
Israel is a line of descendants of people, not a state. Israel is a line of descendants from Jacob/Israel.
Read the translation at ageoflaodicea . com
The state of Israel was purchased in 1948 by the Rothschilds (rabbit hole).
The Rothschilds named the state “Israel” is keep everyone confused on who the true Israelites are. Keep going down this rabbit hole...it’s a deep one you will not regret.
My dearest friend doesn’t believe in dispensationalist theory. He believes that God is talking about a spiritual Israel, not an actual physical one. Here is one of his videos.

The education of our preachers is no different than our schools. Indoctrination of them through 501c3 and theology schools have taught this heavy handedness. When you begin to understand who the Edomites are in the Bible and who they are in our world today, you will understand everything more clearly. Good vs Evil, Light vs Dark.

too many "word salad extraordinaires" these days who deceive themselves by their own intellect away from the simplicity of the Gospel.
