Now the venue is going to sue him and the fun will just keep on coming.
Welcome my son. Welcome, to the machine.
Kudos to him for wanting to do the right thing and taking a stand... but as others pointed out, you need real infrastructure to support giant crowds - that balloons things out... parking, toilets, concessions etc
He got thrown into the deep end, he has ideals and they're crashing into reality... once he works out the math it will be all good. But hopefully he will be able to focus on artistic creation more than the business side with good men around him.
Very interesting. The whole thing. I like that he worries about the regular guy on the street who doesn't have much money, but it was he who didn't pay attention to how his paycheck had to pencil out for the venue to make it work.
Venue cost + insurance + talent payment, overhead, etc., divided by the total amount of paying customers the venue could hold = the ticket cost.
It's an eye-opener for him and I'm sure he feels embarrassed and conflicted about this mistake which was his, by the way.
$80 ticket price needed to break even assuming no costs.
It's gonna be tough to map his dive bar personality onto his stadium sized popularity.. Maybe by saturating an area with scheduled, 60 minute shows he could tamp demand down some and keep things intimate and affordable?
The easiest solution for him would be to say, I will reduce my fee low enough to give the venue a reasonable profit and the patrons a low ticket price.
The venue needs $19 per ticket to pay expenses, which leaves just $6 per ticket left to pay Oliver Anthony. That would make for the $25 per ticket cost that he wanted.
Oliver Anthony would then receive $9,000 for a one-night appearance.
It needs to be sustainable, and he will work it out. Did you see Chris Lundsford's interview with Jordan Peterson? Peterson have him some solid advice about maintaining sanity while touring and talking to individuals vs the crowd, and how some money distinction will be necessary to help separate haters from real fans... JP has learned much since he got famous.
He rejected money when he started so he better leave everything the way it was. No money for him either. I do not trust anyone. I have a bad feeling of all of this specially people who sings or sells books talking about patriotism. Q said it be careful with these kind of people..
Good man. Refund from his own budget? Wow, I've been so used to no one taking personal responsibility.
Meet somewhere in the middle.
We need wealthy people on our side. It is a lie that “good” people should not be wealthy. Make some money and do good with it!

Plumber buddy booked Anthony for $120k
Venue seats 1500 people.
$80 ticket price needed to break even assuming no costs.

Would he be OK with that?
I think he said he wasn't paying attention to the details. Which he takes responsability for.
From what I can see everything is completely new to him so you can expect someproblems.
I have to give him credit for speaking up and not blaming others.
That says a ton

He wanted the tickets to be like 40.00. Good for him. People will never forget this. And it's a good example he is setting.
This guy just might be the real deal... maybe.
Or this is all a Wag The Dog 'Old Shoe' moment...
He rejected money when he started so he better leave everything the way it was. No money for him either. I do not trust anyone. I have a bad feeling of all of this specially people who sings or sells books talking about patriotism. Q said it be careful with these kind of people..
