First, realize oppressive forces are making you feel that way on purpose. Don't give them the satisfaction of seeing your despair. Get out of bed and put on your pants. Even if you don't feel like it.
Second, pick something to do and then do it. Want to go to college? Then do it. Want to get a job? Do it. It doesn't have to be perfect to start with. Just get off the starting line. You can always change course later.
Finally, find a way to do something else which feels productive. Learn a new skill; get involved in something. This can only benefit you in the long run. For example, about 3 years ago I got a new job with a significant pay raise. This job was offered to me by someone who I got to know thru a church activity.
Be reliable and honest and things will happen for you. Life isn't really too hard if you're willing to do your part.
Sad thing is. They really have put no thought into the alternative.
Ask them if they'd like to go back to hunter gatherer days and they have nothing if they dont make it with their own hands, including the tools needed to do so. Want food.Hunt for it. Want it to keep? Want ice? Want AC? Want lights? Wanna go back to the days when there were no grocery stored to just go buy food from?
Maybe mankind is too far removed from the days when survival wasnt a guarantee.

Even with a full time job there are a lot of hours available for other things. There will be time for other things. Most jobs involve working with people and customers. It’s not always work. There’s time for stories, jokes, and laughter at work.
Even though I had a career I also said, I work to live, not live to work. If you don’t want to have a job to pay for necessities of life then just be a bum. Live on the street and be a drain on society. Your choice. It seems like the younger generation, at least many of them, are doing just that. The only way you get a free ride is if you steal resources, money, goods etc from somebody else.
Get training and experiences while younare young. STAY OUT OF DEBT, live simple and search out what you want to build the foundation of your future on. Try different trades and if you can find a service to provide that you can be your own boss, all the better.

40 hours is easy… it’s the 15 hours of lunxh breaks and commuting that gets ya
This is me when I lost the job I love
But don't forget, you get two weeks of vacation time - unless you are a single parent, then you have to save that time in case the kids get sick.
Never had a JOB that was less than 60hrs a week until after I turned 60.
Had a couple that were 70-75hrs back when the kids were very young. Still found time for fishing, hunting, electronics and other hobbies.
Have had a great life!
