My daughter has a bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Georgia in Social Work so my family has some experience in this field which includes the schooling and testing for licensure in this field. Discrimination is a very real problem in many professions, but I contend it is reverse discrimination against the top testing/qualified people in certain fields dependent on race (affirmative action)...social work is affected as well as the medical field.
There have been racial quotas to fill in acceptance to schools (as well as in the work force) which has often discriminated against people with a higher GPA or test scores from being accepted in certain areas of study. This even affects qualification for scholarships. There actually was a court case against a college that was won concerning the issue of school acceptance which went to the Supreme Court...
I think this affects even the hiring practices in many of these fields. We have gone away from merit based qualifications for schooling or hiring and have instead based everything on diversity hiring based on quotas ignoring qualifications. Even categorizing IQ levels has been changed to reflect the fact that everything is being dumbed down and the most qualified are no longer the people hired...
This is a very sad state of affairs for professions that have become tools of a social agenda. There is (or was) a reason that the testing was so hard and rigorous...a certain level of knowledge is required and there should be a natural flow to the concept that the cream of the crop will rise to the top...this is a very serious blow to the integrity of many of our professions in America today.
That's weird. Seemed to me like skin color was previously the only test they used for most "services" jobs.
I'm one of those evil 50-year-old white dudes who spent most of his life building and maintaining the complex systems society relies on, including the parts built by our parents and grandparents who are long gone.
I hope many of you youngsters are preparing yourselves for what's coming when my generation fades away. Not only are we not seeing competence being rewarded, the opposite is being actively promoted. There are exceptions of course, and God bless those younger folks who have developed skills and comprehension -- I just fear there aren't enough of you to keep the world working. There are a whole helluva lot of us that just fix stuff we find, even when it might not be directly part of our job because it's part of our nature. Most of it doesn't even get documented or acknowledged, but I have a feeling it's going to become obvious when we stop doing it.
It amazes me sometimes that the novels I read when younger, which were intended as warnings, are starting to feel like either instruction manuals or documentaries.
You are correct. The perpetually aggrieved, always-victimized shitlibs keep pushing and highlighting this shit. Merit is merit. If you're not qualified to be a social worker, they're going to dumb down the test just so you can be a shittier social worker.
Look at an IQ map of the world, living in a cold environment paid off. IQ doesn't equate to being a good person, a lot of serial killers are quite bright.
Also the perception that all Asians are smart doesn't hold up well. I lived in the Philippines for 3 years and visited often as well and they don't come across as smart for the most part. However they are very happy and are kind to others as well.
Any black social worker should be LIVID about this movement!
Why?
Because they are being targeted, undermined, dumbed-down and belittled.
Every time nonsense like this gets implemented, the overall expectations of excellence for black people are lowered. At this rate, it's going to be extremely difficult - darn near impossible - for the black community to catch up.
Why would anyone do this?
Hmm. Well, a dumbed down population is certainly easier to manipulate and control.
Essentially, this is keeping blacks on the plantation.
Sadly, there are some who are so brainwashed that they welcome their bonds.
I dont understand your response at all. Who is being "dumbed down"? Surely not the people studying social work, who have to pass the test. They are being given every opportunity to show what they have mastered. If they don't do well, is it not their own fault? If the facts are true that some people don't do well on the test, whoever they are, would you want these lesser brains to be given the positions which obviously belong to smarter people?? I don't get this at all. I want the smart and talented people to get the better jobs, positions and degrees. The lesser people should pick another career. If this is racist, which it is not, so be it. And if giving someone the grade they have earned is "keeping them on the plantation", maybe that is where they belong. Sorry, not sorry.
I am saying that black people - or any other group - should not get a pass when they cannot attain the same levels of competence as others - in any field.
Instead, they should be given the opportunities to improve themselves, their knowledge base and their performance levels. It will take hard work, but it is necessary to survive in society.
Any time expectations for excellence are lowered to accommodate under-performers rather than pushing the under-performers to strive for achievement, then everyone loses.
As long as the black community - or any community - accepts lowered expectations as their norm, they will be at the mercy of those who can outperform them.
Nowhere do I suggest that underachievement is acceptable for anyone.
I think this brings into question why they supposedly did "so well" in the classrooms while failing the tests. Maybe the teachers, classrooms and the class work are the jokes?
This has much to do with language comprehension in the written word. The push here is to pass auditory learners - those who can repeat and do what they are told. This opens the door to ignoring written policy and procedures in favor of following the orders of a superior who may not be following written policy and procedures.
An already screwed bureau of government deliberately trying to hire incompetant people. Rather than die slowly let's just shut that bloated beauracracy down now. The degrees are fluff and all they do is serve a horrible system.

Ignorant people are easier to manipulate and corrupt.

All I can say from my experience is good luck.
Who is John Galt?
It amazes me sometimes that the novels I read when younger, which were intended as warnings, are starting to feel like either instruction manuals or documentaries.
We used to call it the Peter principle. It's real.
Amen to this.
IF shit like this continues, this country is doomed, it doesn't matter how MAGA Presidents we have. The rot in this country is impossible to remove.

Test anxiety is often due to a lack of reading comprehension. It is a language skill that is needed even in Engineering.
Well, it proves that giving civil service tests to college graduates is racist if the applicants are black.

Odd. No defense of the anti white proposal in comments.

Hey, we need ditch diggers too. You shouldn't be accepted if you can't meet the bar set. This is blind to ethnicity or gender. Pretty plain.
Objective standards are Racist.
Perhaps the issue is in education? Perhaps?
I think this brings into question why they supposedly did "so well" in the classrooms while failing the tests. Maybe the teachers, classrooms and the class work are the jokes?
