In general, we Americans are not keen on deep historical discussions. But I think that Putin's historical background on Ukraine and Russia is important to put the entire matter in context. I thought his discussion of the historical precedents was very interesting, and it gave us his point of view. Sadly, when this interview gets cut up into palatable pieces for people with short attention spans, most of this segment will be cut down to 20-second soundbites.
I agree with you on this. It makes me angry that this is what we have been systematically TRAINED to handle. It is part of dumbing us down!!!
Well, Mark Twain once said that "God created wars so as to teach Americans geography." I'm beginning to suspect that has an element of truth.
His answer was about history and most importantly, FAITH.
He also mentioned that infamous standing ovation at the Canadian parliament for the Nazi holdover guy
Sorry for the short attention span, Putin gently smacked down Tucker each time he tried to rush to the end, too, lol.
We've been trained for quick bumper stickers, minimized arguments without context. Putin did the right thing to Slow Down and make everyone think instead of reacting to quickly, too emotionally. Whoever invented chess, you have to admit Russians dominate it.
It is imperative to understand the history, the how and why, if we are to understand why we are where we are. Putin handled this exactly as he should.
I agree and I found it refreshing to have a well thought out and meaningful answer compared to what we normally get from the media.
But why did Tucker call him Mr Putin?? He is President Putin surely.
Ha!
But really . . . his answer isn't THAT long.
So someone interviews a world leader that has access to enough nukes to glow the whole earth and asks "why did you start a war" ...
How short should the answer be?
It's ok when we talk about the founding fathers... and I do it every day.
In your defense tho... I did have to rewind it because I fell asleep for a few min...
;)
It was a 3 part answer. Historical was the first part. Part 3 was related to the NATO advancements.
The "history" part was the weakest link IMO. Same argument the CCP uses to claim land for itself "it's been part of China since ancient times, so we can forcefully take it back"
I think his point, when bringing up his 80's road trip experience, was that the people in Kiev still practice traditions of Hungary and Russia (basically they are Hungarian and Russian historically). I recall that the people of the Donbas region asked Putin to step in and save them.
Only fools ignore history and the impact it has on currents events. Maybe you should get back to viewing Rick and Morty if you can't grasp that.
America only considers the last 200 years when making decisions about geopolitics. Russia considers the last 2000 years. Sometimes the right thing to do is shut up and listen.
What was he to say? The Cabal is running Ukraine with Bio labs, human organ trafficking and murdering little children? You think that would have woke up anyone? I was surprised he didn't call out all the bad stuff but instead he showed the world he is stable, not war mongering and seeking peace. I think what he did was correct. What Tucker did not asking anything about DC is what POed me!
Yes.
MSM would have had a field day calling him a MAGA conspiracy theorist and laughed him to scorn along with Tucker. Although I kinda wish he had exposed U1 and all the other Cabal's treasonous acts, I think Putin wanted to be seen by the American public as a peace loving and articulate person very knowledgeable in history----even Tucker's personal history! Kek
Oh NO, perish the thought
Maybe we need to move beyond the ancient habit of worrying about what "MSM" is going to ridicule and trying to carefully shape our thought, word, and deed to conform to their [low] standards, hoping they can't or won't scorn us. By now 80% of everyone knows they are 100% inveterate liars, schemers, and outright traitors.
I can't believe the video proving election fraud and that J6 was a govt operation and all the exculpatory evidence that's been hidden wasn't shown the Supreme Court to utterly crush the democrat traitors' absurd foundational assertion of "insurrection." People were peacefully and patriotically protesting an obviously stolen election. End of story.
Similarly, Putin calling out biolabs and human trafficking would not be a bad thing IMHO
It’s the 20% I suppose they are trying to wake up.
But we already know all of that. Anyone who is going to watch this interview likely knows this. The historical perspective is important.
Unfounded assumption.
Just because "we" believe we know all this (however the word "we" is defined) doesn't mean a majority of the people watching the interview know it, let alone everyone.
I thought that Putin gently handed Tucker's butt to him.
It was refreshing to hear a competent, intelligent leader speak it a way that was not idiotic sound bites.
Throughout the interview, I thought Putin really needed to move more slowly so that Tucker could keep up.
Note to self, I need to study and learn more Russian history.
