I'm right there with ya. I recently got off SSRI meds after over two decades of abuse by the medical system. I got chewed up, spit out, and now I'm a wreck that has to rebuild his life and hope that the lasting side effects eventually fade.
I would be lost right now if it weren't for my loving mother and family. I know a lot of people are struggling with similar problems and they don't have a support system. I just wanted to reach out to these folks and let them know that they're not alone.
Things are rough right now, but we will get through this together! We were chosen for this battle, that's why we have the sharpest swords and the thickest armor.
I love all of you beautiful humans! God bless every single one of you!
Saffron is proven to work for depression and anxiety, but without the side effects. I can personally attest to its effectiveness. 8 to 9 strands into your morning coffee. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/inner-source/201601/saffron-emotional-health
I was where you are. Shelf full of failed pharmaceuticals and my life in tatters. I fired the quack psychiatrist, because he obviously had done more damage than help.
Experimented with several remedies and ran into a study on Saffron for depression. It was a game changer.
Just watch for fakes. Saffron is deep red and trumpet shaped. Drop a strand into hot water and the dye is yellow.
On extra rough days, rhodiala can pull you out of the slump.
The best part, no zombie feeling. You will still have your full range of emotions.
I have some saffron in my spice collection so I'm gonna start using it today. Funny that you mentioned the zombie feeling. I was drugged into apathy for so long that I'm having trouble actually experiencing full emotions again! Being able to properly feel and express emotions for the first time in my adult life is jarring.
Life is meant to be enjoyed. You're now on a path to healing.
Embrace that newness, try to look at the world as a child does, with curiosity and wonderment. See a flower, really look at it, touch it. It's a beautiful world with lots of mini- miracles all around us.
Fantastic point! Gratitude and mindfulness are so important yet so easy to forget. The simple abundance and joy of life is a beautiful thing indeed.
"Zombie feeling". I never put it that way, but that is accurate. Back in the mid 1990s when I had my two kids both times the doctor put me on Zoloft for post partum. Both times I took it for about 10 days and then stopped, telling the doctor: "I would rather feel like shit than feel nothing." Watched my stepdaughter go through that after her first baby and then was so happy to see her refuse any antidepressants after her other three babies. She had experienced that same "zombie feeling" and was not okay with it either. Generally speaking, the medical system is a meat grinder. Wise to avoid it if you can. And if you can't, make sure you have people with you to guard you.
God bless you. I pray that you will return to full emotional range with joy and gratitude abounding in your perception of life. Even when things are dark, we live in a world full of beauty; sometimes we just have to look for it. :)
This is exactly where I am too!
where do you get your legit saffron from? my friend uses it on his eggs and says it makes it taste 10x better.
Where does your friend get it? Did you ever find a source for saffron? Thanks.
no. I haven't lol .fren prob gets it at a local store as he is in a big city
Just did a search. Reddit cullinary thread has someone recommending this place for the real stuff, but it's pricy they says
https://www.rumispice.com/products/saffron?variant=42812308881584
Oh, thanks. I'll check it out. If you ever do try it, I'd be interested to hear what you thought about the results. Thanks.
Awesome! Thanks for the info friend! I'm trying various natural ways to correct this so this is really helpful
Where do you buy your saffron from? Any specific type you need?
Hi, did you ever find a source for saffron?
No I haven't found anything. I haven't looked too much into it yet though. Maybe you can find some on Amazon? Not sure
Alright, thanks.
I use saffron gummies they help me focus. I’m not knowingly depressed.
I've been eating a ton of saturated fat and exercising to help combat all the nonsense my poor brain has been through. It really does help and I can't recommend it enough!
Pretty of good sleep and sunlight too. “If it can always be worse, then it can always be better too. Just figure out which way you want to work towards.”
Funny you mention that. I just came in from dancing to RHCP in the sun for like 45 minutes lol. It's sunny and in the high 30's today so the mix of sun and cold felt fantastic.
Cbd and prayer fren. One day at a time. You got this. With God all things are possible.
I'm actually gonna order some cbd flower soon. Thc bothers me in anything higher than a moderate dose, but cbd has been really helpful.
I pray constantly, it helps me keep perspective and remember that His plan is amazing and I'm fortunate enough to be part of His works.
You have my prayer
Thank you so much 🙏
I hope you say nice things about yourself in your head. Positive self talk really helped me. I give myself the same grace I give others.
I try to stay positive but it's hard sometimes. It's all too easy to adopt a victim mentality with this sort of stuff and that's never healthy. Thanks for the reminder to be a bit kinder!
always, and i mean always remember Who loves you. He will never leave you nor forsake you, ever. if the King of kings and the Lord of lords loves you, who else can fill that void? just look at nature and remember He is the One that gave us this beauty to enjoy. and when a really bad day hits, think of Foot prints in the sand, that when you see one set of foot prints, that is when He carried you. God bless friend!
Thank you! 🙏
many blessing to you my friend. He never said we wouldn't have tribulations but he did promise to be with us through all of it.
I lost what is left of my brother due to the system. He did the brain shock therapy to try and help and nows he's a shell of himself. Combat deployments are a motherfucker.
I'm so sorry to hear that. It really is a system of death and destruction. It grinds people up, extracts all the resources it can, then spits out the remainder. Millions have been harmed just in the US alone. I pray that folks like your bro and everyone else that's been used and abused get to see the day of justice.
One of the biggest motivators for me is seeing how this whole shit show ends.
So much truth in your statements about the system. They say the number of vet suicides per day are closer to 50. Then you have fentanyl crushing people and immigrants gone wild going on.
As far as justice goes I know there are multiple law suits that are going to rock the socks off most of these clowns.
It's a multi-pronged issue for sure. The rot has seeped into pretty much every aspect of our society and we're all just waiting for the day it either falls apart or gets fixed. More people are waking up every day and that's why places like this are so valuable as a resource right now.
Truth is a precious thing always, but especially now with so many lies being spewed about.
I suffered with depression my entire adult life. Recently I discovered that my body wasn't making enough GLUTATHIONE, that was the main cause. Ever since I began taking glutathione I literally feel twenty years younger; depression is gone, body feels great, twice as much energy.
It saved my life.
Wow, that's remarkable. Glad to hear it!
Hi frens. Vervain was the go to plant for depression before the late 19th century, there has not been very many studies on it since, but here is one for you.

I recently got off all of my psych meds. It was about a year ago. I highly recommend ketamine infusions for treatment resistant depression. It has completely changed my life, I have a part-time job now, and I’m able to function as a human. However; I give all praise and glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If I had not been walking with the Lord, I don’t think the ketamine would have worked. You can’t just do the ketamine, and expect everything to get better. You have to work on yourself, study gods word, and be in some type of a fellowship with other believers. Be it going to church, but more importantly, a home Bible Study specifically for women or men.
I’m so happy to hear you’re getting through all this, and thank you for this wonderful post. Yes, there are many people who are suffering with depression, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, Autism, etc…. I’m glad you got off the SSRIs, they’re horrible.
My mental health is strong and robust, unfortunately the effect of living in a profoundly sick society for years on end have had an effect on me.
A lot of my issues do come from the fact that I'm 35 and have lived my entire life in a clown show society. My depression started not long after being forced into public education and getting my first real glimpse of society.
Don’t let clown world get you down. Remember that Jesus said we’re not of the world, we’re just in the world. Take it as a challenge to navigate the bozo nonsense while keeping your identity, dignity, meaning, and principles.
Only stupid people look with joy at the present and with hope towards the future. Judging from statistics, this group consists of about 66-75% of the populace.
When I see internet anons claim to be elite insiders and say that humanity is on the cusp of a great leap both technological and societal - But we need to get rid of the self-righteous sociopaths first, so they don't tear down the splendor of what humanity could be...
All I can say is I see their point.
I use something called EFT for "emotional freedom techniques" or just "tapping". Helps a lot. There are other things that can help as well. Praying Medic just put out a book called Emotional Healing Made Simple that has a method he uses that also works well.
If you have trouble sleeping, listen to audio scripture...the Bible will lift you up.
This will be controversial, but my wife decided to try Ketamine “prescribed” and it has had an incredibly positive impact on her wellbeing and life in general.
She is one of the most determined humans I have ever met and “had” spent over a decade trying to work through all the different routes one can take to alleviate mental health struggles. Her struggles stem from a violent ex who would beat her, violently rape her and then manipulate her into believing she brought this on herself (the scumbag loser was sent to prison). She also grew up in a home with a truly narcissistic abusive father and this lead her to staying in that horrific relationship. I’m sharing the causes of her struggles because I want ppl to have a good grasp of how terrible it was so it’s not assumed whatever happened to them is worse and this story is irrelevant to their journey.
Anons,, I believe there is a direct correlation between the Great Awakening and all the info that’s coming out on the use of psychedelics and drugs like Ketamine for the treatment of mental health issues. From a 20k foot view one can see all of this clearly and it’s amazing.
I encourage anyone suffering from mental health issues to look into this and seek a professional trained in using these options to start the road to recovery.
I love you all and hope that this helps!

I heard about Ket for depression a decade ago, but not since. Its nice to see this treatment is still here.
Wise use of your "Free Will" is both your power and your solution. We are all wired identically in this way.
I'm blown away by the amount of positivity, support, and knowledge in these replies. You people are fantastic, thank you so much!
Hello! I will be praying for your healing, Fren. There is such wonderful advice on this thread, and I thought I'd add to help you and so I can easily find this post again. To help repair the damage to your brain, I suggest you eat coconut butter or manna; the ketones in it will directly feed your brain. Taking probiotics will help greatly too. Here is two articles on the brain and Alzheimer's disease; both articles go into great depths about nutrition and precursors to neurotransmitters. It may give you an idea on how to go about healing your brain. There is a connection to the gut and brain, so please focus on your gut health. Avoid any grains, as most of them are filled with toxins and pesticides. A good diet to follow would be a ketosis diet or the Whole 30 elimination diet to figure out which foods affect you negatively. Eating eggs and beef liver (from organic sources, of course), is going to be key in helping you to feel better and thrive. Eggs have the main source of choline in our diet, and choline is so important to your health. Beef liver has the highest concentration of Vitamin A from a retinol source, and this is also very key in you health. It also has a bunch of B Vitamins and other vitamins you need to be able to change the neurotransmitter precursors into neurotransmitters. Be wary of your sources of water. Try to do an easy detox too; someone here had mentioned increasing glutathione levels, and that is key to reducing the toxins in your body. If you have great gut health, lower the amount of toxins you are exposed to, and have a great diet along with the awesome exercise plan you have already in place, you are going to thrive, my Fren. Best wishes of good health, prosperity, and peace to you. Take care. -PM17 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9785743/ Speaking of bioavailability of polyphenols, you can use Life Extension vitamins (they have PayPal in 4 which doesn't require credit checks and you can pay in four installments overtime) which tests the bioavailability of their vitamins. It is a really good company. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6394610/ P.S. Here's some easy secrets we use in our health: Another thing that might help you is red clover tea, which is a good and gentle blood cleanser. Rock rose tea (cistus incanus) is also a really good and gentle tea. Both are high in polyphenols and antioxidants that you may find beneficial. Do your research, of course. God bless you and your healing.
God bless you, too, fren! Keep the faith!
I hope you are able to detox from the ssri quickly. Going forward on your journey to mental health without pharmaceuticals, I have witnessed some treatments that were helpful for some situations.
This is not medical advise and I'm not a doctor.
Past Trauma? Try EMDR (counseling therapy). If your the trauma event was severe enough to fracture your personality (DID diagnosis), then the integrated family systems (IFS) approach (aka parts theory) is probably a good idea, otherwise skip IFS as it really shouldn't apply to someone whom doesn't have DID.
Unexplained anxiety problems? ...Vitamins and supplements may help. I think others have covered that in this thread.
... Neurofeedback therapy may help (involves the fascinating interaction of the brain with normal stimulus and targeting via stimulus the 4 brainwave ( alpha, beta, delta, theta) ratios to align in a way that has been statistically identified to be normal for a well adjusted ( no anxiety / depression / etc) person. This treatment should involve some counseling so that if the root cause pointed to something identifiable that can be discovered and addressed rather than just being an imbalance of some kind, then the root cause can be targeted in counseling instead of treating only the symptoms.
... The Listening Program (Advanced Brain Technologies) is literally classical type music played into fancy headphones that uses the soundstage of the music to affect brain patterns of activity. It seems weird but it can be very effective for resolving unexplained anxiety or depression. Also it's really helpful for improving spectrum disorder (autism, adhd, add, etc) stuff and for helping you to improve executive functioning, communication, and many other aspects.
Sadly, I live in the sticks and the best treatment I can currently get is therapy sessions and appointments to see a psych.
My county doesn't have a city in it lmao, it's nothing but small towns off 200-5000 people. Mental health services are incredibly lacking here.
That being said, thank you so much for this wonderful reply and the knowledge contained within. I hope if another frog is dealing with these issues that they can explore these treatment options.
I'm sorry to hear that. Please be aware that I'm referring to counseling licensure rather than psychology or psychiatry licensure.
Great advice!
EDMR changed my life.
Also, I’m a HiFi nut and I can definitely see how high end headphones and classical music could have a positive impact on your wellbeing. I’m not into classical music but I have noticed that when I listen to classical music through a good set of headphones (think Focal not Beats) I listen longer and actually enjoy it. I think it has something to do with being able to listen so far into the music (soundstage) and actually hear timbre as it’s suppose to be heard. You become entranced by the details that you normally wouldn’t hear and that draws you deep into the music, regardless of being a classical fan or not. The best way I can describe it is,,, magical.
Well this is a little more involved than just the music. First the headphones have both the over ear cans and a bone conductor headphone device that is on top of your head. Next the music is moved around in the auditory space (left / right / above / below / in front / behind) and instruments are recorded on different channels so you will hear one set of instruments or perhaps only one instrument by itself away from the group moving around and getting louder or quieter, softer or brighter. Then other instruments are lowered or raised in volume around it and apparently this literally has impacts on brain function.
The songs are color coded (blue, green, orange, red) and colors target different brain functions. The program lays out a very specific song order and a person goes through the music typically one song a day. At first others will notice a disorganization in the targeted area for the person. Later (2 to 6 weeks or so), others will notice large jumps in progress and ability within the targeted areas. It's really crazy to see happen. Imagine someone on the spectrum whom is not verbal / barely verbal / not responsive verbally. You start doing this music program and the person suddenly becomes a chatter box. After you finish the program, there is no regression, your brain rewired / reorganized itself into a more efficient system of processing. The music doesn't force this reorganization to happen in only one way, it just provides stimulus in such a way that a more efficient processing path is created and that new path unlocks new abilities that were inhibited by whatever was going on previously.
