I learned all this by stumbling upon an article about the odd statistics of what type person gets obsessed with My Little Pony.
It didn't hit mainstream full swing until they made that one My Little Pony series that added some less than child friendly stuff that drastically accelerated it into the mainstream. But it definitely drastically predates the bronies.
It's because, for the first time, the cartoon was genuinely GREAT. Seriously, I started watching it out of spite because I was so pissed that disgusting, joke-free shows like Family Guy and Brickleberry were so damn popular--and I was stunned that I wound up LOVING it. So different from the older, vapid, substance-free MLP shows--and I'm old enough to remember the original.

Make it clear that only PEACEFUL and dignified protests are tolerated; not allowing the other side to talk, property destruction, foul language, and laying a hand on/invading personal space is not. The latter is grounds for expulsion and the requirement to pay the full year’s tuition despite expulsion, as well as prosecution for any of the infringements.
IF someone in an outta season Halloween costume but my child to further the mental illness, my child would have permission to protect themselves. Actually had a girl kicking my son in the shin hard enough to leave bruises. After telling his teacher a(5th grade) awoke hippie type; he told the play ground aide with no results. I told my son he could kick her back - and as hard as he could. Previously he'd been told to be kind to girls - mistake. Because I was an active PTA mom I was at the school a bit, I told the principal & teacher if Susie came crying to them because my son kicked her...then explained the situation & it would stop one way or the other. It did without further incident to my son's disappointment.
I hope that wasn't me! I kneed a boy in 9th grade (jr high). He stepped on my band new sandals, I had paid for them myself. It was an automatic response because I was so upset. I liked the boy & felt really bad & could tell he hurt & was embarrassed. In fact I was thinking about it just the other night. All these decades later, I still feel bad.
