I have a family member who is recovering from being a junkie. I believe that addiction is a form of self-medication gone wrong. Quite possibly there is an underlying parasite that made you feel off in the first place, and there may have been a trigger, for example, a friend's suicide, which was the case for the person mentioned.
So as @UpwardBound suggested, a little antiparasitical action won't hurt, and might even help, bigly. In any case, keep up the good work. One day at a time. Have you started going to the gym and supplementing with food and vitamins etc. to build up your muscles? A regular schedule can be a great boon in recovery.

The second I feel a tickle in my throat, I take a shot. If you don’t like the taste, make a Ritz cracker sandwich. Lightly break it up in your mouth, swish some water in your mouth to soften, and down the hatch.
When I had the “delta” I had the worst cough in my life. After 5 days I got a chance to use the horse paste. With in 4 hours after, felt like 1/3 of the “weight”/pressure left my chest.
