Don't upgrade the operating system on any Apple device. You are getting way more than you think.
Look at switching to Linux when your current operating system no longer works. The instructions on this are on various places online, and it doesn't look that hard. (Any input on this would be appreciated.)
Most fun of all, contact Apple Computer. Spyware is Super Woke. You know what that means... But they are relatively hard to contact. The chat people are clueless and don't understand English. AND, the best thing is to contact a bunch of Apple Stores. https://www.apple.com/retail/ The page finds the close ones based on your IP address. If you click on the store, you find the phone number. If you want to call many of them multiple times, I won't stop you.
Their sales are down 4% (https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/05/apple-reports-second-quarter-results/). They seem to be bragging about that. Don't look for logic. But those are rookie numbers!!

Why would your current OS stop working? How would you switch after it stopped working? Why not encourage people to start learning Linux now. Why not just inform them that unlike Apple and Microsoft, Linux doesn't collect telemetry. Even then linux isn't yet a viable alternative on Cellphones or Macbooks.

The root of issues like the one above is that the #1 technology for every major software corp is of course, AI.
AI needs to be trained and for that, you need data. Real data. And that means as much of your data as possible.
Now consider that these companies are in a race against one another to build the best AI for their particular niche in the marketplace. That competitive pressure leads to a lot of short cuts and "looking the other way" when it comes to privacy and consumer rights.
This same battle is going on with Adobe right now whose new terms & conditions allow them access to all of your art (and more).
This is one of the new battlefields and I would encourage people in the strongest possible manner to get up to speed on this issue and how to fight it. Doesn't matter if you're non-technical, we need your voice.
We've been warned about AI for years, but now the rubber is hitting the road. We're hitting one of the first battlefields with this privacy fight.
Wouldn't it be nice for the cabal if they could figure out a way to be able to quietly search and destroy anything they deem misinformation or bad on people's home computers without them knowing? Wouldn't it be so convenient for them to work towards a system where you have to prove to AI that you are a human in order to use the internet? How would you prove you're human? Everything is tightening on the future mark of the beast system.
Does big tech really think spying on every single person is gonna produce the most reliable data for AI training, without filtering the garbage of shitposts, tumblr fanfics, parody blogs, and character roleplay forum threads?

I think the Fauci files are coming. I think those files are keeping Musk alive personally. Moreover, he also has millions of their various DMs they've made over the years. He's a target they could easily remove since the media now hates him and would cover up anything done to him. However, I think the only reason Musk had an apparent change of heart was because HIS neck was on the line and those files keep him alive (they have to be tied to a dead man's switch or are in the hands of others at this point).
I cannot disagree with anything else you said though. I am not a Musk fanboy. If you could guarantee that things like Neruallink were used for only good purposes, I might understand the need for that stuff (you could, in theory of course, give a blind man sight with the technology ... eventually). However, tech like that will be used for nefarious purposes the minute it hits the market.

Open source is the goal. But not always attainable on the hardware side. I use 10 year old laptops but buy junk ones to have lots of spare parts. I run Linux so I'm not tied to any software vendor. For phones I buy unlocked Samsung devices and then run lineageos formerly cyanogenmod. Lineageos.org

Let's get real here. iOS and Windows (and Linux is ok for now) - are product offerings - they offer what they offer and there's nothing we can do about it, EXCEPT - either opting out completely (you don't NEED any of these devices) - or buy something else.
Not long ago, 99% of people had zero TRUE need for a PC or cell phone. Now every dbag has one.
Again, the issue is distribution. When a linux phone is so easy to get that you can find it at wall mart and it has the same sex appeal and 'why should I buy one" question answered, you've got it made
