Many of the top Google execs came right from intelligence or darpa. It’s a revolving door. Pay for tech development with taxes, the pay a private company to use the tech.
This, and I can't believe this doesn't get talked about more often. There is no way AI\ChatGPT just appeared in 2022. Most advances in technology come from DARPA\Military first. GPS. Computers. Internet. Radar. Drones. I'm guessing the military has had, at least, ChatGPT style AI since the early 80s.
the NSA has been collecting every phone call, email, and text message since after 9/11. How the hell does everyone think they parse and analyze all of that? It would have to be some form of AI.
