Simultaneously extracting labor so they aren’t a total tax sink. While giving the ones who will eventually get released. Skills they could potentially use to further themselves and be productive legal members of society. Instead of reverting to their old habits.
In that clip. It looked like Landscaping, Painting, Cobblers, Artistry, Jewelry making, and Sewing. To name a few.
I've been saying this needs to happen here for ever. Our infrastructure is in shambles, our cities are loaded with trash and graffiti. Plenty of non skilled labor to be done. The ones that excel get to move up and learn a trade that can be used upon release. It would work for all the homeless drug addicts too.
Looks tremendously empowering. Much more pragmatic and satisfying than even many of the best regarded Western jobs.
There's something about walking through a neighborhood and seeing the product of your work all around you. Imagine how much programs like this increase the odds of post-incarceration success.
Right? I was thinking we could ship some lefties over there to serve their sentence, see how they'd be able to pave streets with one hand while waving their pride flag
I spent some time in ES in March, and I think of it as the Philosopher King has broken the witch's spell that was hanging over Salvadoreanos... all that chaos from MS-13 + civil war + bloodshed in the streets were not really homegrown phenomena, it goes against their instincts to be violently tearing each other apart. The whole thing was their version of a military industrial complex, except the corrupt beneficiaries in ES were using the highly lucrative business of anarcho-tyranny of the gang cabals, instead of our version of corporatized geopolitical war policies to feed the beast.
Now that the bad hombres are taken out, the tone of their society is awe inspiring. Energetic, peaceful, productive, and generally ethical (except of course the usual scammers). The reform initiatives with the prisoners (not just the hard work ethic and skills training, but offering spiritual counsel as well through an evangelistic presence in the prison), combined with heavy investment in youth programs to divert the younger generation from going the same path of violence for a quick buck, its all like this comprehensive exorcism.
Another thing that they should do is reform one of the most detrimental aspects of modern society, television.
On state tv, ban all soap operas, rap music, and heavily vet any Hollywood filth.
Replace with documentaries (no pseudo science climate crap), arts, theatre and classical music. Nationalistic history, civics programs and “how to” programs to influence pride and a sense of belonging while encouraging individual freedom.
The other crap can be shown on private tv and heavily taxed / licensed. Thry should also be banned from ad revenue in an effort to expose who is funding it (we nose who it is).
I really hope El Salvador is a kind of test bed for all the new prison/criminal related policies that Trump and his allies will like to implement in the US upon return.
I’d love the idea of having prison labor crews go around every city in the US and scrub off all the graffiti.
plus the idea of the prisoners learning a trade and feeling respect for themselves after they see what they can accomplish outside of crime. all win/win.
Now that I’m thinking about it, Trump did say in a campaign video that he would enact “beautification projects” for our crumbling US cities and infrastructure. I assume that includes restoring collapsing cities like New York City, Detroit, LA, Chicago, scrubbing off all the graffiti, and restoring/refurbishing once famous buildings and public spaces that had been left to rot since the 70s
This is astounding. Bukele never fails to impress. The "punishment" involved with jail/prison should absolutely be for giving back to society in an equivalent to what has been taken away by the prisoner.
Loved this interview ,, I’ll watch again, thank you for posting ,, I have such limited time as most , but if u can squeeze in the time , this is the time to squeeze ! Time Well spent !!!
His father 100% converted to Islam later in life, but President Bukele himself is not exactly. More like a Christian leaning monotheist. This mingling among monotheisms is not unusual among old school Palestinians.

These are great steps to mending a broken Civilization.
Solves the argument “but without government, who would fix the roads?” Libtards often use.
I say make civil servants wear a similar uniform.
And long term welfare recipients.
Agreed. They'll never be able to work off the damage they've done. The politicians that is.
Carpenters...THIS country needs more carpenters and others who ARE BORN IN THIS COUNTRY!!!
AND bring the offshore industries, from small to large to MAGA back to this country....

This is a good idea, but for it to work here the courts must be fixed first.
This was a great interview of him by Tucker Carlson - https://twitter.com/TuckerCarlson/status/1798520181112664531

Some from Column A, some from Column B...
Not just converted. Both his brothers and father are Imams. I always hear him thanking and praising God but never mentions Jesus.
Those weren't MS 13. Not one tattoos face among them.
They're on the right track...
"You pick the cotton... I'm gettin in my muffukin Lincoln"
Cue the "muh civil rights" activitards.
Bukele opened El Salvador to money launderers worldwide. It's unfortunate that so many conservatives have fallen for the hype.
