Microsoft reportedly laid off it's internal DEI team.

At least they did the entire team, which I would say is inclusive.
And equitable. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
Microsoft is nothing more than another damned spy tool. They are so deeply embedded in our countries infrastructure they should just be taken over once a new government is established.
We need the 4th Amendment reaffirmed, and ALL these spying POS shut down permanently.
I am a Microsoft Software Engineer.
The key to stopping this is the legal system in my view.
From their standpoint... All the data collection becomes useless if they cannot use it legally against us.
So if they have the legal rights to shut down our bank accounts due to what we say. That's crossing the line.
If they use my information to advertise to me things that I actually care about. I don't have a problem with "targeted ads" that make sense.
I understand your point of view though.
The 4th Amendment gave the right to privacy in all things to the people. Not to some SOB wanting to sell me something. They have zero right to collect any thing that I don't give them express right to gather.
This isn't about what they use it for. It is about my right for them not to gather it.
I see your point.
Data collection is pretty broad in scope.
For example:
When I look at the webpage https://greatawakening.win/messages?type=unread
The querysting added to the link of "messages?type=unread" is a form of data collection.
This data collection is used to help the site owners determine what to display to you.
To have any form of dynamic behavior on the internet. Some form of data collection has to happen.
I agree that all data should be PERMISSION based that allows you to opt out of something.
When you click like on Facebook / Twitter. In order to show you information that you care about. Twitter has to collect data to determine that.
There just isn't a way around it when it comes to producing dynamic experiences.
If you read the data collection policy of this site, it doesn’t look bad at all.
Basically they log IPs at last login in case there’s a legal issue, and that’s about it.

Would be nice if a lot more sites were like that.
Most do have a data policy.
In fact.. Google will penalize seo results that don’t have a privacy page.
In my view: Data collection is not the issue so much.
It’s them trying to put in laws that will allow them to use our data against us.
Data itself is worthless. What you do with the data is where the value is at.
The data to make a dynamics experience on webpages does not have to be archived, and associated directly to you. It can be strictly tied to when the profile logs into their programs. The data I am concerned about it what is collected, stored, and mined to build a profile of who you are, where you are, and who your associations are.
It depends on how the program logs are structured. Logging to a flat file would slow performance.
A small structured SQL database is better. Or even a DB like MongoDB.
If they stopped learning who you are.
I am not sure how good of a customer experience you would get.
For Example:
On Facebook.
Most of the Ads I don't care about. I do tell Facebook to send me all the ads related to business, computers and fitness.
So literally 90% of the ads I see are in business, computers and fitness. They do show me games on occasion.
So if they don't know who you are. I think a lot of the content will come across as irrelevant and spam.
I don't use any of these platforms for ads. I don't need corporate America trying to sell me anything online. I get enough of that crap with their robo calls.
The purpose of an Ad is to make you aware of something.
Without ads.
It would have to be word of mouth.
How do we know something exist if it is not shown to us?
Because they didn't hire enough black Eskimo midget trans-lesbian muslim amputees?
Need some sauce for that please. Got a link?

Doesn't mention laying off "it's entire DEI team", just "A" DEI team, FWIW.
You mean they won't have to start every meeting now with pronouns, descriptions of their clothes and skin color, and apologies to the long-dead local indigenous populations? That should make their workdays shorter.
I guess Microsoft will suck just a little bit less. I guess it's a start.
Any chance of the same thing happening at Satan's own Alphabet/Google/YouTube?
More of a chance of the ex-employees being hired by those companies.
They won't change. https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2023-black-lives-matter-equal-opportunity-corporate-diversity/
This seems to be a trend in the corporate world. Do they sense that defeat is imminent and they now scramble to reposition and save themselves? Wont save them from 13818.
