That said, Trump going to jail would put him completely shielded from everything that's about to happen. So, i wouldn't be surprised if they did put him in jail. It's all part of the movie as far as I'm concerned.
Plans also change. This could be the plan for the moment and they shift as each side reacts to public response to the info.

Dude survives getting shot and then survives one of the nastiest prisons the US has to offer? Sounds like a hell of an underdog story to me personally.

Trump has the single greatest bargaining position to run that prison any inmate could dream of having.

POTUS can only (officially) pardon for Federal crimes. It is Governors that have the power to pardon for State crimes. And I believe Rikers is a state prison/jail. Then again, anything is possible in a movie like this.

I have always thought that President Trump would be incarcerated just prior to the election to take him off the campaign trail and to give a talking point for the Dumbocrats. DJT would have SS (Suspect Service) detail outside his cell for protection. He will be released on bail only after his immediate appeal is granted, but this will be stonewalled through the month of October with a release date just after the election. I believe this will be an abysmal failure. The recent additions of RFK, Tulsi Gabbard and other ex-democrats are there to fill in for DJT in his absence since they can draw crowds. I see no one else who would draw a rally crowd during his lockup…. Just my crystal ball and tingling sensation lately.
I don't think Tulsi or RFK Jr. could pull an equivalent crowd even in Trump's name.
Both of them still get a lot of conservative push back.
Not equivalent crowds but contributors that can keep the Trump Train moving. Nobody can draw a crowd like President Trump. Personally I don’t “trust” Tulsi or RFK, Jr but they do add excitement to the sheep.
