50,000 gallons. That’s how much water it took to extinguish the Tesla Semi that caught fire on a California highway last month, according to investigators. That’s the equivalent of one of those carbon-bolted steel tanks used in irrigation or wastewater. And its certainly a lot more than the 500 gallons that was needed to put out a Model S fire in 2018.
EV battery fires are such a concern that the Department of Transportation convened a whole-ass panel about it last month.
Ev’s are fake and gay. I wanna see musk design a internal combustion car.
Tiny explosions in an engine are bad for the environment. They make cows fart aswell. My ev is clean. The lithium mines have zero carbon emissions. And if everyone has an ev then we won't need petrolium for anything ever again. <insert blue purple hair screaming white chick with a female penis>
Meanwhile, brown children claw lithium ore from the earth with their bare hands...
lmin: sarcasm, right?
Yes ofcourse
EV's based on batteries are indeed fake and ghey.
EV's based on fuel cells, or some other type of electric power generation that works as you are driving could become viable competitors to ICE cars.
Did you know that train locomotives are hybrids? They use electric motors to actually move the train (which have truly insane amounts of torque) while they use diesel generators in the locomotive to supply the electricity for the electric motors as the locomotive is rolling down the tracks.
Build cars using the same basic hybrid principles and you could have a pretty decent competitor... electric motors have some big advantages, and your entire drive train is nothing more than a power cable... but you lose efficiency and therefore waste energy converting the fuel to electricity, which is why we are not all driving that type of hybrid car already.
Basing EV's on batteries, especially unstable ones, is just plain stupid.
Hybrids are way better, you are correct.
"Did you know that train locomotives are hybrids? "
Yes, I do. But they're not "hybrids" in the same sense as hybrid autos. In a locomotive, there is no battery involved.
Along with my NJ registration renewal this time came a notice that EVs would be charged $250 extra annually, with a ten dollar increase every year for the next 4 years.
Interesting. And makes sense, given the fire problem and the extra weight that EVs put on the roadways and bridges, degrading the infrastructure faster.
That new hummer is 10k pounds. The battery alone weighs more than a Honda civic. That thing will kill whoever it crashes into.
The whole Futuristic World idea is a psyop to get humanity to create their own technologically controlled prison themselves. The controllers knew people don't like prisons so they had them build their own around themselves. Phone -> Tracking Device
Home Wifi -> 3D surveillance at all times
Nanobot injection
Control/Radio Towers
Internet of Things
SMART devices
When you know you know.
It would be nice for a month to loose internet. All these kids would go outside, no facebook, no tell-them-vision. Just ppl talking to each other again.
You can add using Federal Reserve Notes to your items of convenience that imprison us. Trading With The Enemy Act of 1917. Who is the real enemy?
Probably true, although as a future-loving science nerd since childhood (along with many others), I can affirm that "building a prison for ourselves" was never part of OUR agenda. But the electronic-communication-everywhere, microchip-in-every-box, GMO, nano-pharma, etc reality of modern society DOES lend itself to a new kind of prison.
Thing is, the whole thing is scam. EV or at least BEV's do not make financial sense for the manufacturer or the customer if the cost of production was not subsidized. They are already too expensive for the normal consumer now, let alone what they would be if forced to compete without those subsidies.
The ONLY way this scam worked was government coercion that forced everyone, or nearly everyone, to purchase EVs. That way everyone is driving around the same shitbox and relied on the government (power companies, same thing) to get them around. Slowly, the old ICE cars would die off and the poor would no longer be able to drive, but that's okay because they now live in 15 minute cities.
EVs are a dead industry walking. There is no future for mainstream adoption as only 10% of this country is weird enough to buy one and, once that number was hit, sales flatlined and are now retreating due to a high rate of defection. The manufacturers are going to (already have) have such a bad taste in their mouth from this unforced error, they will abandon alternative fuel vehicles. This will be further supported by very inexpensive energy prices brought to you by the Trump admin V2.
I deal with brand new cars on the regular and I can tell you the EVs are, for the most part, poorly developed garbage. In order to make them stand out the manufacturer's have been doing all kinds of weird, unconventional designs that weren't thoroughly tested and don't work. Software and architecture are a mess, all kinds of weird glitches, updates needed all the time, modules that used to be a single units are now responsible for control of 4-5 units including themselves.
HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION: Driving to your friends house out in the boonies? Does he have a super charger? Don't worry, you have the 110v charger that came with the car. Just hook it up to his outdoor plug...oh wait, it's not water proof. Okay, run it from garage, easy. Now your car is charging, full battery in...3 days! Excellent! Isn't the future great?!
Tow a diesel generator behind it, instant electric /s/
Subsidies make us pay for.it.
An electric motor per se is good. But not with batteries, only with Tesla coils direct energy from the Ionosphere.
What’s the purpose of putting out the fire? Are there structures near by, are there forests near by? Seems to me it would burn out by it self. Now that you have 50,000 gallons of polluted water NOW WHAT
Yes, it was in a forested area.
Agreed. They may have their place, but it's not governments place to make those choices for us.
I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it: Until EVs have something better than a battery under the hood, they will always be an urban niche market.
How else can you male china rich and kill Americans
