Yes, they are wrong about the direction of the cheating but they are questioning which is a good thing. How else might the corruption of elections be exposed? I don't think that paper ballots will be the whole cure but there is absolutely no reason to continue using machines. If you wanted to run any open and transparent system why on earth would you pass all the data through a black box that no-one can fully understand?
People say that code can be walked through and checked but just think about, say, Windows. When you look at the processes that are running in the background, what do they all do? Can anyone name every driver in the system? How many processes are running that do not even appear in that list of processes?
