I can't speak to whether or not this is a good idea. Maybe it's just symbolic and even that would be worth it.
I do know that Biden killing Keystone basically killed pipeline and oilfield construction jobs across the US overnight. Here in WV, within a week of Biden acting, men started streaming back in, suddenly unemployed, from all over the region and country. Devastated many families, and then the Bidenflation that followed for the next four years was just insult over injury.
It's going to take a lot to get those jobs spun back up again. Hopefully the salaries will make it worth the risk for these guys and their families.
It's partly symbolic, but the main thing is it sends a signal that America is back in the energy business. The US is sitting on the world's largest natural gas deposits. We may as well use that energy since we have it. No need to buy from others when we can create the jobs and energy here. We were energy dominant under Trump, meaning we were a net exporter of energy.
I am in favor of clean uses of gas and oil. We have the technology to make engines run cleaner, go further, and be more efficient. There is room for using gas and oil while also not dumping pure smog into the air like China does.
As energy comes down, shipping comes down.
Since everything is shipped, costs should come down and this should help with lowering prices, i.e. lower inflation.
We sit on the worlds largest oil reserves as well. Research the Green River shales. There are over 2 trillion barrels in these shales. Thats more oil than has ever been discovered elsewhere plus every drop ever used.
But its not only here. There are huge untapped deposits throughout the west and even in Kentucky and southern Indiana.
And then places that we have been told are tapped out like the Permian Basin wells are refilling which really puts the 'fossil fuels' thing to the test. I am a believer in abiotic oil.
yep. that song Rich men north of Richmond comes to mind when i read your comment. devastation is probably the perfect word for what the Biden administration has done to this country.
that's why i hope those government officials that the DOGE is going to clean up, find out what devastation really is. those clowns better not try and take any of these energy jobs away from we the people. they need to clean toilets, houses, etc.
This happened in many industries not just oil. And yes, the losses weβve endured due to employment, health and inflationβ¦. How will that be recovered?
Right now all that beautiful crude oil is shipped on the railroad barons railway. War in buffet. Warin made shur o bummer killed the pipeline. So he can continue to drown in cash from oil tanks shipped by rail. See, no pipeline no oil. They gotta pay the robber baron for oil. Capiche.
... even though no companies are trying to build it anymore.
The pipeline's permit to cross the U.S.-Canadian border was first rejected in 2015 by President Barack Obama. Trump in 2017 reversed that decision and approved the border crossing β only to have that decision revoked by Biden in January 2021. After that, TC Energy, the pipeline's developer, said it would no longer pursue its construction.
Don't let them distract you.
The moment one of the other oil field players see an open field with $$$ ready for the taking, that project will be up and running in no time.
But but but it's much more green and environmentally friendly to transport it all on thousands of train cars instead!!! Reeeeee!!! Climate change and earth dying and shit
Disclaimer: I know nothing about the petroleum industry.
Can he even do this? Technically/physically, I mean? What's involved in restarting a pipeline that's sat inactive for 4 years? I would imagine a lot of integrity checks, cleaning, test runs and the like would be necessary before it can actually start working.
(None of which would be an issue had Brandon not fucked everything up.)

Those jobs will get sucked up sonfast people's heads will spin.
Follow the money. It's always about the money.

Says Warren Buffett who owns all the trains!
Time to bring the pump prices back down to where they were between 1/20/17 and 1/20/21. This is a first step.
If the steel that was laid is gone, it was not by any company. It would cost way more than scrap.
