Exactly. I am a business owner myself and I wouldn't hire someone just base on his/her color? I wouldn't ask a babysitter for a dog sit nor ask a mechanic to come fix my toilet. Howls.
I work in healthcare. So does brother in law. Since Trump 1, it’s been coming. Equality, which if based on merit, was the entry point. And perhaps even before that, with Obamacare, which our business model gave them the template, it may have started. During first year of Biden, all I heard was “equity”. That’s when I knew.
The shareholders was the govt, regardless of what you thought. Our CEO, making 30 fucking MILLION dollars, did whatever they told him, and most likely was part of the driving force. They thought they were going to be in power forever. Fuck the “customers”, it was about the scratch from the never ending taxpayer.
It was, but still remains if we allow it to survive at all, was to engineer social change. Doctors and nurses are all minorities. Because you know, fuck actual care. And the leadership is bought off to go along.
I have stories of the shit they pulled from an admin level which was just incomprehensible.
The civil rights act effectively created a second constitution. Not to say that its heart was entirely in the wrong place, as with prohibition, but virtue cannot be legislated, and it created severe conflicts with the constitution.
They should never have caved in the first place. OF ALL INDUSTRIES! You want the kid that made an A+ on his A&I (mechanic) exam or the one that made a C+ fixing your airplane? Flying your airplane? Controlling your airspace? How many “near misses” or runway incursions have you read about in the past 3 years? Still not ok, this letter doesn’t make unqualified (as to ability) leave their positions does it? I quit flying—survival instinct I guess.
Now we need Trump's DOJ to enforce the law on the companies who participated in this racial discrimination:
The law forbids discrimination when it comes to any aspect of employment, including hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoff, training, fringe benefits, and any other term or condition of employment.
There is a good reason why they mix Ethnicities in a work place environment. There is much less unity and therefore much less likelihood of an organized strike or union creation. Up in Sudbury, Ontario they mixed the Miners with Ukrainian, Finn and Italian workers so they could not communicate easily and therefore not organize. It's more about control than anything about Diversity.
Did anyone actually read the letter in the X post? It just says that Southwest is not going to interpret diversity requirements as quotas in the second bullet point, right before immediately saying that they will increase "diversity" if those quotas aren't met, in bullet point three. This is hardly the death of DEI; they're just using corpo-speak to say they're going to continue to use quotas.
I have been a pilot in the Corporate side for well on 35 years now and over the decades I have seen the Airline Industry morph into something that I decided 15 years ago I never wanted to be a part of...no matter what the pay scale! Primary reason for feeling this way is based on one word..."Southwest!" Southwest...took a very prestigious, upstanding and professional industry and just plain ruined it! Southwest has been a DEI Airline for 20 or more years now! My guess, based on my well traveled experience with SW is that 90% of their flight attendant staff is either gay, tranny, or otherwise mentally unstable. In addition, their code of conduct, dress and interaction with the public is entirely unprofessional.
I have known numerous SW pilots over the years and almost to a man/woman they were anti-social or just plain weird! I have yet to figure out how SW screens their pilot candidates, but based on what I have seen the actual screening protocol really must involve picking people who have some sort of unprofessional, anti-social quirk about them.
Not sure what others experience with this airline has been, but take away the low fares and many domestic locations served (both of these are really not much better than other domestic carriers...for instance you may get more choices to fly from OAK to say MCO, but you will not find one non-stop between those city pairs...can you say UNITED!) and you have a very unprofessional carrier, with a marginal safety record and the chances you will be abused/repulsed by one of their flight attendants is more likely than not!
Meritocracy imagined the machines, Meritocracy designed the machines, Meritocracy built the machines, Meritocracy drives and/or pilots the machines.

Check the CTA thread.
My question - Why did anyone go DEI? Anyone with a brain could see it would fail. What good did it provide for the customers or share holders?

Many of us left the military because of this as well. It was organized destruction
When you can't destroy a nation from the outside, you destroy it from the inside. You gut its values and ruin its infrastructure.
DEI was part of destroying the USA from the inside.
I'd say it actually provided a lot of good. It showed We the People which companies hate us, and helped us to choose to avoid them.
Look at Universities. From job applications to website information- it’s everywhere. We can thank Larry Fink fu or in through Blackrock
This was always illegal
Civil rights anyone?

In fact, affirmative action was a violation of the Civil Rights Act.

Exactly this. Next do doctors and teachers.
Merit, Excellence, and Integrity 4 ever……..MEI
Amen.

Cool. So Southwest Airlines admits to discrimination in hiring and promotions for years... up until this recent change of heart?
Anyone who works for Southwest can now sue them for discrimination.
Make Aviation Great Again
Excellent. As the parent of a white, male pilot in training, I can honestly say DEI practices were worrisome.
White men always figure out a go-around. It’s what we do… analysis, adapt, plan, execute and flourish. It’s why we are hated.
The damage is already done. The marxist are already on the inside.

Wow! So the "Tower of Babel" model?
DEI Tsunami on its way!!!!
Well, dei IS racist so...
Now stop them from getting warefare. Force them to earn a wage.

too late, the cancer is already inside
About fucking time. Let’s make sure no other bullshit words like “opportunity” get put in and this happens again, only disguised.
