About 4am, I turned on FOX 8 in NOLA. The reporter was saying something to the effect of "Who cares about a football game? Who cares when Bourbon St. reopens? People died. We should be thinking about their families and friends grieving."
Hopefully, he still has his job.
When the mayor said the street had been “cleaned” and ready to reopen, I was horrified for the families of the loved ones. “Cleaned” as if their loved ones blood and bodies was dirt, an inconvenient mess.
The Sugar Bowl brings in millions in just a few days. These city officials won’t let a terrorist attack keep the city from cashing in. Too many in politics will always put cash above blood, especially if they get a kickback. There’s still no excuse for not allowing sidewalk memorials or letting local CSI work the scene to gather evidence.
How were they supposed to clean the blood off the street? You do realize that some streets and sidewalks here are still cobblestone? They couldn't leave the blood there. Would become a very stinky health hazard for the rest of us. New Orleanians have deep respect for the dead. Ever hear of Jazz Funerals? 👀 And is the entire French Quarter supposed to just shut down completely for days? Weeks? Months? Screw all those small business owners? And people who spent money to see the Sugar bowl? Oh well, screw you too?
New Orleans had Mardi Gras after Hurricane Katrina. We celebrate the lives of our deceased by continuing to live. We include them in the events. We don't walk on our dead. Have you ever seen our beautiful cemeteries? Smh
Of course they have to clean the blood from the street. If there were flowers or candles or SOMETHING to show reverence for the innocent murdered human beings memory, that would show compassion and love for the victims and the victims families. I haven’t seen that yet. The failed leadership of the City has screwed the people and the small business owners. This should never have happened. It’s horrible for everyone. I’m so very sorry.
The mayor is called "LaToya da Destroya" for a reason, and it isn't a good reason. They tried to recall her. Like Newsom, with ALL the support, it just didn't pull thru.
I believe several streets surrounding the attack spot are closed. I don't watch TV, so don't know about flowers but we don't do things like anyone else in the world. What will most likely happen is once things have settled down a bit, they will have a Jazz funeral and procession for the victims. Bc that's how we do things here. Streets will be closed and thousands and thousands of New Orleanians will go out and parade or watch the parade honoring the dead.
Do they spray down the street and clean the street of blood, brains and remains of murdered human beings every morning? No! Do you hear yourself? It’s not just another day of cleaning! it should be a day of mourning the innocent murdered victims and their families deserve that respect.
I get where you are coming from as far as having a day of mourning I just don’t understand why you are so upset they cleaned the street rather then letting rats and what not eat the remains.
I’m upset that it’s business as usual, nothing to see here, just get back to partying and spending money, no need for the horrifically murdered people to stop the party. It’s not about the cleaning, it’s about the disregard for human life.
Would you rather have ghouls walking through the scene?! I’m sure there will be some kind of respect paid to these poor innocents and their families. Louisianaians are kind and considerate.
You would be incorrect. South Louisiana is primarily REPUBLICAN with the city of New Orleans being Democrat. Only the city. We have republican super majority STATE CONGRESS (both house and Senate), republican governor who was elected outright in the primary.
I do know that back in the 80's and 90's the New Orleans police department was, probably, the most corrupt in the nation to say the least. I don't know if this current head of the department is or has gotten them straightened out but hopefully it is. With information like this it doesn't seem like it. I haven't heard much about their PD in many years so it might be good and they might not be involved in the day to day activities of washing the blood away and making decisions about the college game being played. If the PD is good, the mayor may still be corrupt or some of his administration still is. I am only guessing at this as I am unable to confirm anything about it.

Same thought I had. Zero compassion for the victims or their families
Bread and Circuses must continue.

Everything should come to a full stop ‼️💔😢
Everyone who has ever said this is dissapointed with the results. It doesnt happen.

We’ll wait and see what happens…..
That will truly speak volumes, to the families, the Country, the World. These people mattered and their families grief matters. You do you!
Well actually we were told by the police to not go to st Louis cemetery. They wouldn't go there in daytime, armed. It's that unsafe.
There are MANY cemeteries. My family tomb is in Lakelawn.
Gotta make way for the fans of the ball fondlers.
P.S. I’m sure they will have the street properly blocked off now. Idiots.
What do you want them to do? Permanently close Bourbon street? Leave the blood stained streets there?
I mean they spray down and clean that street every morning. Are they blocking people from putting down flowers and what not?

You want the world to stop. It doesn't. This is why compassion.
Maybe pause?
It sounds like it’s the spirit of blasé nonchalantness from the Newsomnian leaderscum at the helm of Nawlins.
They’ll get their day, and it sounds like the need for both resolve and memory will be met, and that just the local ways aren’t known.
Permanently ?? We’re talking about respect for the dead. How about a few days at least! But $$ over lives….
I feel the same as you. I felt sick watching that press conference
Me too. Such disrespect to the victims and their families.
Everything should come to a full stop ‼️💔😢
Seen the same thing in iraq after an vbied. Only they cleaned up in 4 hours. 28 dead and not a trace of blood. Opened back up like nothing happened.
Traumatized people seek a return to normalcy.

I love the people of Louisiana. They are victims too, of failed leadership. Their City, their famous Street and their businesses are damaged.
What do the Mayor, Police Chief and DA have in common?
I agree, we do have failed leadership in our big cities nationwide. South Louisiana is predominantly democrat so that explains most of those problems.
You would be incorrect. South Louisiana is primarily REPUBLICAN with the city of New Orleans being Democrat. Only the city. We have republican super majority STATE CONGRESS (both house and Senate), republican governor who was elected outright in the primary.
My apologies.
One tumor can do so much damage to the body…

Bourbon street. Beyond evil. They will serve a child. They have absolutely no reservations about their actions. None.
Saw memorial today.
The country wins only if the gdp number goes up. Consuming is the prime directive.
Now you get it. Every click, baby.
“Let them play football” the new version of “Let them eat cake”…..
