In 2017, Trump did take a military 757 to DC, I believe this is customary, but CALLING it AF1 when he hasn't been sworn in yet is either A) just jumping the gun, or B) proof he IS President.
Trump is the president-elect. He is sent a government plane for his ride to DC for his swearing-in. That's all this is.
Any plane that is carrying the president is given the call sign Air Force One. It's not the name of a certain plane. It's any plane that carries the president and it's only AF1 if the president is on board.
I loved that, too! It touched my heart. He's grieving for his wife who passed away one year ago on this past Jan 9...the same day Melania was at Carter's funeral. 💔

The plane he flew on today was not the 747 with the heavy retrofitting that is normally used as AF1.
That was either a 757 or 767 and looks like the one normally used as AF2.
Some folks were definitely confused because they were saying, "Trump is flying on Air Force One! Does that mean he was already sworn in?"
No. It wasn't even the same plane. Things like this matter.
